"I was going to, but..." you take a moment to consider your response. Lingua Praestantia can be used as a language, but it wasn't made for it and it's always a bit clunky. "I just discovered she has strong Magesight. I have to think about how I'm going to handle that."

Panoramia nods. "Magic stuff," she explains to Eike, who nods. "Lunch would be a good start. Halflings consider a proper lunch to be a form of worship."
Lucky it wasn't the tall golden one.
"What? I got maybe half of that... She magic-see? …oh yeah, Windsight… good? …Handle… it?"
But jeez, poor Wilhelmina, she never gets anything to go right. Did she piss on a shrine to Ranald when she was younger or something?

Maybe we can sell it to Wilhelmina as "this way Eike is set to inherit from both of us and not just from you."
In matters of business, Wilhelmina has a knack for arranging things to her advantage. It's in family matters she has the trouble.

Spending half a decade plus in a magical apprenticeship will delay the time Eike would be ready to take over from a retiring Wilhelmina, or at least reduce her trade mogul education level by that point.
No. If Grey Wizards want to do spy stuff, they can just not use their real name.
"…oh. OHHHHHhhh."

I have the odd idea now that Wilhelmine is terrible at that one bit of spycraft, and great at everything else. As such, she posed as "Wilhelmina" while spying on Abelhelm Van Hal.

It worked significantly better than her previous spy job where she went by Wilhelmino, and while the shrinking spell she used to pass as Wilhelmini was impressive it didn't earn her much respect.

I kind of get where you're coming from, but I'm pretty sure Boney doesn't appreciate that sort of tactical voting. If someone genuinely prefers "let her choose" to Grey, then voting for that only in a direct competition makes sense. But if they want to see both options appear, they should vote for both. The vote is about communicating the preferences of the thread to Boney, and that works best if people are honest about what they want. Boney isn't a dumb machine, and he reads the thread. If Grey wins, but a significant number chose Eike and Grey, we'll probably see a scene slanted like this. "Grey is best because X, but Eike should have her own say". On the other hand, if they vote for only Eike despite wanting both, and then grey wins (and it's not super), then that might get dropped, because Grey xor Eike (that is, one of them but not both) is not such an easy thing to put into a scene.
I can see that argument for Grey+Eike chooses, but for any combination of Grey+other Order this just doesn't work with the format of the vote. BoneyM might want us to vote our conscience, but he has given us no clear way to push through, say, a Grey+Gold signal that is stronger than a pure Grey signal.

And as always, there's going to be people who vote strategically. So being honest and open about it and making sure that everyone knows how to do it instead of letting it only be an avenue for the insightful/ruthless seems more fair to me.

EDIT: Incidentally, it's a pretty fun coincidence that the term "Friend of Rhya" was first introduced in the story during pride month.
Yeah! Boney should color his avatar with rainbows. Anyways,

Thought. What if we go ask a dwarf? Like, there has to be someone whose an expert in matching up young dwarfs to the right profession, yeah?

ah yes

choosing the right wind of magic for a fledgeling wizard

that thing dwarves definitely have experience with

wait, i'm being told that there's actually a dwarven expert they can call on for matters like these

goes by "mathilde", lives atop a mountain somewhere

It'd take some explaining of the parameters and biases, but some of the skills should translate between species.

After a reread, I would like to commend Boney's writing of the mannerisms of a preteen girl, based on how easy it was to imagine my niece in Eike's place.

Hmm, another thought in favor of Eike as an apprentice, but don't we have that extra hunk of dragon bone for staff turning that we never needed? I would, of course, suggest gifting it to her no matter what college she chose—it's a nice apology for screwing up Wilhemina's plans, I think, and would definitely help in keeping Eike from blowing herself up—but if she ends up as Mathilde's apprentice we could probably turn it for her personally, and we're pretty good at that if the Staff of Mistery is anything to go by. It would give her a damn good head start.

Remember guys that how much Mathilde will suggest roughly depends on their relative votes. So if you want more than one option go be presented, don't harp on the Grey Order too much even if it is your favorite. At least not as long as it is comfortably in the lead.
I must say though, most people who voted for multiple things but included Grey Order lately seem like they voted against their interest to me. Except if the additional options were more like pity votes than a serious hope that they get mentioned alongside the Grey Order.

Seriously, nothing against the option, but Grey Order has currently more than double the votes of any other Order. And it's bound to get more from all those people who don't want anything mentioned alongside it and potentially make it more likely for Eike to choose something else after all (which is a totally valid stance to have by the way). But if that's not what you want then maybe vote to make what you do want more likely.

People should vote for the options they want. Making assumptions about how the results will be applied and strategically editing votes accordingly is a really great way for people to work really hard to achieve results they didn't actually want. I can't outright stop people from voting strategically but that doesn't mean you should be out there advocating it.

Not sure if he doesn't prefer being a Celestial Wizard or if he's just really attuned with the elemental part of the Wind whilst not being all that attuned with everything else.
Don't know if I have much to say to this beyond "I would advocate you re-read Hubert's character arc." Or hell, even his character sheet:
Stunted Magic: Hubert has completely rejected the mystical elements of Azyr.
He dislikes being a Celestial because the College culture is heavily oriented around the "everything else" that he actively has a distaste for and has completely rejected. Mathilde's primary contribution as his magical mentor was convincing him that he could actively refuse to fit into his College's culture and still be valid as a Wizard, and that only took him as far as being willing to make more use of the elemental aspects of Azyr while still completely rejecting the mystical elements.
