To be fair to Kragg he is six centuries Snorri''s senior and while he has a far lesser overall knowledge base to work with what he does have he has been obsessively honing for his entire life.
It is a bit of a question what tendency would win out in the hypothetical of Snorri being displaced to now- "stuff from further back is better" or "stuff from older Dwarfs is better".

@BoneyM

Can we enchant a gun with this to make it automatically clean itself, maybe after each shot?

If we could magically prevent fouling it might let us use a different type of powder. Or just make life easier.

Really, I'm just looking for something to combine with Enchant Item for windherder puposes.

There's no spell for it, but I wonder if Celestial college magic could make a weapon more likely to strike true.
Self cleaning gun, the gun will clean after itself therefore no need for cleaning kit.. Not a bad idea. Eugene Stoner would like to see such gun.

I'd rather a gun which is eternally muffled, and shrouded, so she can shoot in shadows and remain 'cloaked'.

Still a bit concerned for Ruprecht after the battle. Still a bit concerned in general about Cursed One von Danling. Can't quite put my finger on why... hmm, probably just paranoia.

The Windfall sounds genuinely fascinating.

Snorri's message to the modern Karaz Ankor
One: what is a "jump" in this context?
Two:
Snorri: "Thungni would weep to see this getting called the work of a master!"
Kragg, openly sobbing: "I KNOW!!!!"
Allow me.

This took 100 years and a thousand pounds of Gromril and Oathgold to make.
@BoneyM Witness me pls.

I think it'd be less about the effects as such and more about the sort of stuff only a Runelord could see or care about. Minor imperfections in the runes that have absolutely no actual impact, "20% less efficient use of energy than if you'd done it the proper way", that sort of thing. That's my thinking anyway.
Yeah, that sound about right. Reminds me of back when Kragg was making our sword and he phoned in that heat protection amulet that would last a "mere" century or so before breaking down, and it was considered such garbage that Kragg was tempted to throw it back in the fire and re-do it.

@BoneyM, is the Windfall the Winds actually descending to ground level or are they staying at the same height and the mountains are rising high enough to bring the ground to their altitude?

It does make me wonder if our sword is going to last less than eternity.

Perhaps that's the big difference between Alaric's work and Kragg's own- Alaric's was able to last 2,500 very active years. Very active.

I wonder how Snorri's armor would react to getting pulled through to the Time of Woes. I imagine the connection to the Deep Magics would play merry hell with the transference.

I don't remember, will Dwarfs put runes on guns? Rune of the Unknown on a long rifle sounds deliciously useful for assassination purposes; bonus points if we spend a couple Dwarf favor on Gromril ammo or something, since we'd ideally only ever fire the thing at VIPs.

There are Runesmiths that'll rune guns, but the Rune of the Unknown is melee-weapon only.

We don't need runes for that. Guns aren't that big and we have illusions.

That's actually a really solid idea. I think I'd still prefer a runed gun - all the best enchanted guns we could think of turn out to just be wands with triggers - but if we do go the enchantment route, I will absolutely support this being Windherded on. I think people underestimate the effect this would have on blackpowder weapons.

One thing I was kicking around before the Expedition started was doing a Windherder enchantment on a dwarf rifle and gifting it to the Hochlander. This solves the following problems simultaneously:
  • All the best enchanted guns we could think of were just wands with triggers, and we have way more DF than CF, so we probably want our ranged slot to have runes rather than enchantments
  • We want to Windherd something just so we can get some experience with the skill and maybe start progressing it
  • The Hochlander has been killing it lately with his work for us and showing some appreciation is always nice
  • @Walliseatscheese has wanted to look at what dwarf rifles are on offer for literally over a year IRL
I think @Klaus's idea of Polish, Clean, and Gleam, Windherded together with Illusion (to make it silent), would be a great choice.

There is that capital S guy that we have a grudge against but no real way of getting to or extracting vengeance from.

Unless we extend it to all the people serving him, which is a bit of a dick move.
I actually have a new theory about why he didn't provide the needed healing, thanks to Kasmir's investigation into Sylvania's local theology. Simply put, Sigmar didn't do anything because he didn't have the power to do anything in Sylvania.

I'm not very enthusiastic about a rune that is 'don't roll for misfire'.

I mean, yeah, if you're sniping Malekith, it's probably good to have, but if i spent several favours in making a awesome dwarf rifle i would be a bit pissed if the critical assassination roll had 3 rolls (misfire, aim, and reaction of target), instead of say, cleaning the chamber the day before. It could be good for repeater rifles, but do those even exist yet?

Also fuck getting more skills for shooting good, hell on the action economy and traits that could build on the traits we already have (unless master assassin counts or whatever it's called).

1 trait per arc folks and all of them seem to build on eachother to the point it's much better to buy the evolved one 95% of the time apparently.
