Working as intended. The Colleges don't have the benefit of a fully revealed tech tree to see what will turn out to be significant. All they see is 'oh, a roundabout way to duplicate an incredibly easy spell. That's kind of cool, I guess'.
I kind of want to push this research if only so Mathilde can be incredibly smug about getting there first.
We really should burn one of our deeds for an institute and then then hire Adela.

If the Druidic secrets really are held that closely by the Jades, I'm leaning further towards cashing in one of the Great Deeds to get their co-operation on the Waystones project (once Belegar actually picks it as a Loremaster Project).

I was kind of thinking it would be something we could Favour our way into, or nudge Panoramia into collaborating on. But that level of cult-secrecy is something that would need an Imperial Command to bypass. And those secrets are likely to be something that would make the difference between making the project a success or failure.
I don't think this is totally true. Consider that we collaborate with wizards who don't share how they do things, just the results of their work. Algard didn't show us how he did the sun-switcheroo trick, he just did it and helped. So, yes, it would require some serious diplomatic juju to get told the secrets the Jades know about Waystones, but it would not take that level of juju to get them to help: they could in principle freely share results without sharing process or background knowledge, as long as you're willing to trust them.

(BTW, @BoneyM, I noticed that the coin paper isn't marked with a Freshness rating. I assume it is Timeless?)

I think that, before we go spending great deed to get some magisters to help with the waystones, we talk to Pan about it.
Just, see if she has insights, advice, suggestions.
At minimum she might be able to tell us if we need to use that deed, or if regular college favor would work.

Wow, Kasmir and Eike are pushing the Dragon and Johann out of the top 4. Well, Cannals is too, but I feel the sudden pick up in interest there is strategic more than anything.

Surprising how the dragon lost its firm early lead.

Speaking of papers and freshness, there's this stuff too:

Warp Lightning observations - shared with Adela (FRESH)
Azyr Lighting mechanism - shared with Adela (FRESH)

Azyr Lighting just got written, so it should be removed. Warp Lightning may or may not be iterated to "Fading", depends on what's easier for your scheduling/archiving.

@BoneyM Are all romance votes not winning this time around barred until there is a resolution, one way or the other, for the winning ones?
I ask because we will be spending quite a bit of close and potentially intense time with Johann very soon. It might well be that we will spend months of real life chapters with him before we get to go on a third date with Panoramia even if we want to.

Possible, but I think the most demoralizing part of catching up to 15 pages is how many arguments are just casting aspersions on other choices or their motivations for said choices. This is very hard to read when your favorite is Johann, your second favorite is Cython and your third is Panoramia. :(

Kasmir and Eike were hot on the debated items before it became a waifu war.

I figure we got the coins right there in our library so...functionally timeless as long as we keep the coins?
Yes, but I care about making sure things are recorded correctly, which is both why I voted for the coins and why I poked BoneyM about the rules annotations in our character sheet :p

Johann was ten votes behind the canals when I woke up; I don't think it's a strategic increase, I think people just approval voted everything and the canals are important. We're likely to see some strategic focus on the 3rd and 4th place slots as Cython and Johann fight to get involved, though.

They get updated at the start of the turn.

If there's a pressing reason for a social action with someone I'll add it.

I don't know about others, but Kasmir is my top non-romance choice and the only reason I wouldn't vote for it is if it were vying for fourth place with either Panoramia or Johann.

@BoneyM Does Hubert also get an official mention on that paper?

[X] [ROMANCE] Journeywoman Panoramia

Single issue voting, but the fact that there is even a question is criminal :p

Edit: added more options. In part to avoid the insanity of an ice dragon romance. I mean, seriously?

Yep, he does.

A Method of Creating a Bright and Even Light with Azyrric Energy, by J. Adela Burgstaller (Bright), M. Mathilde Weber (Grey), J. Hubert Denzel (Celestial), 2485.

It's in the "Academic Discoveries" spoiler, at the bottom of the character sheet post.

don't actually like Pan and Johann as romance options, but actually hate the dragon(as a romance, they are a cool npc) , so needs must.

[X] Gretel, who's apparently spending her newly-earned wealth to make herself at home.

[X] The Amber College, to check in on the salamanders.
[X] The Gold College, to see what's become of their research into Skaven technology.
[X] Follow up on your donation of the Skaven organ-vat, and see what has been made of it.
[X] Pay a visit to your fief, to see if anything has changed. It probably hasn't.

One extra space was screwing up my votes. Thank you for spotting it @Rafin

I mean more are we allowed to come on to/flirt with Johann during the expedition if the chemistry is right, despite him losing the vote here?
I could see arguments either way. From a narrative and from a player interest perspective, battling by his side over a plethora of expeditionary chapters might change how Mathilde or the voters see him. From a fairness perspective it could be considered unfair that a losing option gets relitigated while being in a position where they have no active competition.

Nowhere near caught up, but voting anyway.

[X] [ROMANCE] Journeywoman Panoramia
I'd be okay with Johann or Anton, but this is the relationship that I am really curious about.

[X] Gretel, who's apparently spending her newly-earned wealth to make herself at home.
[X] Hubert, as he settles in to his niche with Ulrikadrin.
If Duckling actions need justification, I don't know you. :p

[X] Belegar, to discuss the northern Karaks and the Expedition.
[X] Elder Hluodwica, High Priestess of Esmerelda and civilian leader of the Eight Peaks Halflings.
Belegar, because a) duh, and b) I want to see his reaction to Asarnil, c) I want to see him with the "T-Pose diplomatically" action unlocked. And Halflings because someday this will win, and I want to actually meet her.

[X] Barak Varr, to watch the progress of the canal.
Curiosity. Mathilde is a cat, after all.

[X] Kasmir, to see how he's keeping himself busy in Sylvania.
[X] Eike Hochschild, to get to know your future business partner.
I'm curious about how Kasmir is doing. Also, if we can chip away at either the Sigmar antagonism, or Sigmarite politics. Eike, because smol businesschild is cute.

[] The Gold College, to see what's become of their research into Skaven technology.
-Actually, not this turn. Maybe next, to give them a little more time to dig into things.

I'm going to be going to bed soon, so while I'm not here to keep tabs on the thread, I'd like to strongly suggest that people say nice things about the candidates they like instead of not nice things about the ones they don't. I'd also like it to be able to remain at the level of a strong suggestion instead of having to be made an official decree.

If the thread hasn't voted to begin a romance with Johann, Mathilde won't be hitting on him.
