[X] Plan Spider-Wizard Synergy
-[X][Max] Allow him to spend all his time on his metalworking studies.
-[X][Johann] Allow him to spend all his time investigating Clan Mors.
-[X][EIC] Instil corporate policy: always be scrupulously honest when dealing with Dwarves.
-[X][SOC] Spend time assisting with a fellow councillor's task: Gunnars, Morrite Lore
-[X][PENT] Have additional rooms excavated underneath your Penthouse: -50gc for 2 rooms.
-[X] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
-[X] You've mapped the territory of Clan Mors. Go down there and see what you can acquire.
--[X] Ranald's Coin: The Gambler
-[X] Request the translation item yourself (does not cost an action; converts 3 College Favour to Dwarf Favour).
-[X] Teach the We Dwarven semaphore.
-[X] You have acquired the possession of the Temple where Ranald mugged Mork. Set up a shrine and spread knowledge of it throughout Karag Nar.

I think I've finally settled on what I want to go for this turn. The central part of this plan is the synergy between Johann's Mors-investigating action, moving the We into the Citadel, and Mathilde going through Mors territory more thoroughly for things to yoink. I think each of these actions benefits the other two no matter what order they happen in.

Mathilde's task of relocating the We is supported setting up two avenues of communications with them. We've got Dwarven semaphore for regular communication and a magic item for more involved stuff. Max gets to take a look at the webs as extra insurance on the 'doing my job' part, even if it doesn't apply directly.

Finally, I'm rounding out the main actions with a Temple of Ranald. Wolf and the corporate policy for the EIC are near-consensus level, but I think I could live with switching the former to an overwork action to fit in helping Gunnars with the Morrite stuff.

The biggest sticking point for this plan getting some kind of acceptance is going to be the fact that it goes for underground rooms rather than tower rooms.

The only change for this plan from what was previously posted is that I've put helping Gunnars instead of training Wolf. And let Max do his own thing.

...I don't think that quote means what you think it means?

We're giving him work. His work is investigating Clan Mors. I read Boney's response as "what happens if we just don't give him any commands".
@BoneyM
Apologies, but do any of the "allow him to spend all his time investigating clan whatever" count as work, or just letting him do what he wants? I believe it's the former, but...

[X] Plan Not Really Preliminary Anymore
-[X] Have Maximilian teach the We written Reikspiel.
-[X] Current Task: Have Johann investigate the properties of the spiders' webs.
-[X] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
-[X] Spend time assisting with a fellow councillor's task: specify who and how.
--[X] Assist Gunnar with burial rites for Humans
-[X] Request the translation item yourself (does not cost an action; converts 3 College Favour to Dwarf Favour).
-[X] Investigate the constantly-dripping blood of the Wisdom's Asp. Current accumulation: 12 gallons.
-[X] Teach the We Dwarven semaphore.
-[X] Instil corporate policy: always be scrupulously honest when dealing with Dwarves.
-[X] Wolf is now fully grown, and is a very large dog or a regular-sized wolf. Train him. (increases his intelligence, may deepen Familiar bond)
-[X] The Gambler: specify an action this will apply to.
--[X] Investigate the constantly-dripping blood of the Wisdom's Asp. Current accumulation: 12 gallons.
-[X] Have a tower built atop Karag Nar: -100gc for 1 room, bonus to room's purpose.

[X] Plan Talk to me Baby (Spider)

[X] Plan Can You Hear Me

[X] Plan Citadel Focus

Will probably add further plans later.

Key points for me for the plans:
-don't just let Johann fuck off and do what he wants, we have useful things for him to do and we aren't doing more than taking one or two of his action equivalents
-train Wolf, who has been neglected too long
-no snekjuice before actually putting together a professional lab for investigating
-the We are being taught Semaphore
-not skipping any of the free actions that align with our job

Following the bandwagon on throwing up my vote again, with X's in the appropriate places.

[X] Plan Waaaghnald
-[X] Instill corporate policy: always be scrupulously honest when dealing with Dwarves.
-[X] Current Task: Have Johann investigate the properties of the spiders' webs.
-[X] Have Maximilian write a paper on a subject you dictate.
-[X] Teach the We Dwarven semaphore.
-[X] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
-[X] You have acquired the possession of the Temple where Ranald mugged Mork. Set up a shrine and spread knowledge of it throughout Karag Nar.
-[X] Write a paper on your personal understanding of countering Waaagh Magic.
-[X] Write a paper on the Waaagh energy and magic witnessed during the Expedition.
-[X] Have a tower built atop Karag Nar: -100gc for 1 room, bonus to room's purpose.
-[X] Spend time assisting with a fellow councillor's task: Gunnars and Morrite Lore.
-[X] Request the translation item yourself (does not cost an action; converts 3 College Favour to Dwarf Favour).
-[X] The Gambler: Ranald shrine.

3 Spider-tasks, the Ranald Shrine with Ranald helping out, Max/Mat tag-teaming on College papers, buying the Ghur item for the Dwarf Favor, and Gunnars.

EDIT: Dictation added to gt Mathilde's bonuses on both College papers.

Jack is already packing his office when you visit him. You've deliberately kept a blind eye on his personal activities to tacitly sign off on whatever compensation he decides is suitable for the job, and he considers the past few years well spent, but with you off the council he's decided it's high time to seek his fortunes (or, at least, more of his fortunes) elsewhere. He boxes up all the records on the gong farmers for you on your request, and says that if you've ever a need for the services of a thief again to track him down.
@BoneyM, did Jack leave us a way to contact him conveniently, like an address to send him letters at that he'll look in on every so often, or would getting in contact with him take a full action slot? And if we got in touch with him, how much would he charge to acquire Esoteric books for us via whatever means necessary so that we can dodge paying their Favor prices and/or import rare foreign tomes?

Calling on old contacts is nice and given the way Mathilde's library is shaking out I think we would be very interested in employing a professional in the art of procurement.

And on a completely separate topic, when did Mathilde learn Dwarf Semaphore, that she is able to teach it? Who taught her?

No giving Alien Spider Hive Minds writing technology, thanks. If you want to welcome our new chittering overlords, at least wait until we can trade something for the knowledge.
Any Spider-We should be able to communicate anything known to the hive via semaphore. We don't need to give them persistent written knowledge skills just yet.

This is good.

[X] Plan Not Really Preliminary Anymore

Has everything I want. Working with doggo and snake juice. What more could I want?

[X] Plan Not Really Preliminary Anymore

I think the semaphore action is excessive and can be swapped to, say, a shrine for Ranald or an additional EIC action, but otherwise it's good.

[X] Plan Citadel Focus
-[X][Max] Current Task: Have Maximilian teach the We written Reikspiel.
-[X][Johann] Allow him to spend all his time investigating Clan Mors.
-[X][EIC] Instil corporate policy: always be scrupulously honest when dealing with Dwarves.

-[X][Free] Request the translation item yourself (does not cost an action; converts 3 College Favour to Dwarf Favour).
-[X] Help the We establish their new nest below the Citadel.
-[X] Spend time assisting with a fellow councillor's task: Gunnar, assist him with human burial rites.
-[X] You have acquired the possession of the Temple where Ranald mugged Mork. Set up a shrine and spread knowledge of it throughout Karag Nar.
-[X] Write in: You've mapped the territory of Clan Mors. Help Johann poke Clan Mors
-[X] The Gambler: Poke Clan Mors

I really like this one as it comes out to four actions, accomplishes our job, gets us an in with Gunar, makes sure the EIC knows how to handle dwarves, and lays the groundwork for latter experimentation into the snake juice. That it gets us the shrine and messes with the rats is a bonus.

[X] Plan Citadel Focus

What sold me was this:
Eh, Johann was always going to be difficult to wrangle as he's our peer in rank and probably beats us on seniority.

We can use him better now, in that I reckon if he wanted to do Skaven research AND concealed his rank I'm practically certain he has stealth skills suitable for obtaining Skaven wargear.

I.e. we aren't just appeasing him, we're using him by having him engage in Path Of Doing What We Wanted Anyway appeasement.
Two Magisters can fuck up a lot of shit, and cause a lot of havoc even if its not their mission goal.

A significant factor in my choice:
-The Gold Wizards are often redundantly applied to a task, and best used for exploratory research rather than Investigative/Problem Solving research.
--This turn, Johann and Max are redundant, they can do long term investigations on the spider stuff, immediate tasks of teaching spiders how to write(I partly want Max to teach writing because Max has good writing!), and for Johann he can apply full Magister skills on Skavenfucking.
---Worse, they don't play nice with each other so assigning them both to the same task is likely to get less done rather than more.
I want to apply two full Magisters directly to Skaven Faces. We can SoS Johann to make us both basically invincible and undetectable in the underways, and a Gold Magister messing around with people's technology is basically as absurd there as we are in darkness.

[X] Not Plan TNE

I'll look more in the morning. Preliminary thoughts.

@BoneyM
Apologies, but do any of the "allow him to spend all his time investigating clan whatever" count as work, or just letting him do what he wants? I believe it's the former, but...

Each of your underlings will have things they want to do and thing you want them to do. If those two things intersect it's gravy, but if you find they're doing what they want to do simply because you've got nothing better for them to do you should really be cutting them loose.

Heideck should be able to get word to him, but that it's College and Dwarf favours you'd be avoiding paying means that you'd be commissioning theft from wizards and Dwarves. Only one of those are subtle, but both are quick to anger.

And on a completely separate topic, when did Mathilde learn Dwarf Semaphore, that she is able to teach it? Who taught her?

There's a book on it amongst the general Karaz Ankor literature. Learning the fifty or so most common combinations is way easier than learning a new cipher.

I want to apply two full Magisters directly to Skaven Faces. We can SoS Johann to make us both basically invincible and undetectable in the underways, and a Gold Magister messing around with people's technology is basically as absurd there as we are in darkness.

This vote is probably going to go down the wire on how we want to approach our relations with Johann (as a peer collaborator we can influence his direction of to synergize with what we want to do, or a subordinate?). Let's face, it, Johann is a fellow Magister, and putting him on a similar project with Max isn't a good idea. Plus, two magisters screwing with the Skaven is an entertaining prospect.
