Tentative plan

[] [SPIDER] The We can be allowed to scutter off into the Underway, never to be seen again.
-[] Send them to the pit and seal it back up. They'll probably act as guard dogs.

[ ] [UNDUMGI] Make no recommendation.
-[] Any will work. No problems with any of them though it is doubtful the brettonian will win

[ ] [ARMOUR] Make no recommendation.
-[] Do report that it will be likely that any fallen or captured dwarf by skaven will end up there on the butcher's block. Possible rat poisoning or fire mission?

We're not a dwarf. Don't invite grudges unintentionally.

Thinking

[ ] [SPIDER] The We can be a welcome addition to the multispecies community of Karak Eight Peaks.
- [ ] [SPIDER] Point out that magic items can be commissioned to allow Umgi negotiators and merchants to work with the spiders.
[ ] [ARMOUR] It should be reforged into a worthy commemoration of the Karak's rebirth.
- [] [ARMOUR] Perhaps the various leaders of the expedition that contributed forces, such as the dwarven Karaks could have a weapon made as commemoration of the refounding.
[] [RUNE] A rune sword worth 25 points, whatever Thorek/Kragg/whoever, think is most suitable for someone who war on the forces of disorder and their works from the shadows.
[] [RUNE] A rune sword worth 20 points, whatever Thorek/Kragg/whoever, think is most suitable for someone who war on the forces of disorder and their works from the shadows.
[ ] [ENCHANTMENT] None

I think Belegar would have no issue with this advice being delivered in person. He'll know how dangerous Mathilde with a gromil runeweapon would be to his foes. He's a pragmatist, and would know it would encourage the runelords to do their very best work.

[X] [SPIDER] The We can be a powerful military ally against the Skaven.

Approval voting both of these for now.

[X] [UNDUMGI] Francesco Caravello, Tilean ex-merchant

Voting for the merchant.

[X] [ARMOUR] Make no recommendation.

Let's not stick our oar in this one. The dwarves themselves are better equipped to judge the balance of internal morale versus diplomatic credit.

I vaguely recall that one of the spiders is pretty abnormal and hits on you.
They found humans very cute and that one has big pedipalps (their own words :V)

RE: Spiders

Communication is certainly a big issue here although the Spiders being a hive-mind ish might actually help.
Right now I advocate for releasing them, perhaps teaching them few gestures that conveys non-hostile intent, just in case our scouts stumbled upon them again or vice versa
An alliance might be difficult but a non-aggression pact is possible I think.

Though if enchanted item for communicating with them is possible then I'll be tempted to pick the alliance option.

I lean strongly towards Francesco Caravello for the Undumgi. He's got the breadth of experience to do the job properly in a weird place. Soizic would be my second choice. Oswald is no doubt a good person but doesn't strike me as a good leader.

Spiders should probably be set on the greenskins or allowed to scurry off.

No recommendation on the armor, let's leave that to the dwarfs.

A suit of armour has a lot of metal to go around, and I think Al means to the major contributors from the different holds. As well the top individuals it sends a very strong message.

@BoneyM Can the spider tongue be learned, particularly by a shadowy mage with empathic sense? Alternatively, do the spiders seem smart enough for teaching such to write?

Both for the communication of basic concepts, hardly needs to be some full blown conversation.

This is serious Omega. Please at least put forth logical arguments instead of a cutesy plea.
Serious answer? There is no such thing as a wrong reason to vote for something, and "I like the We and would like to try and integrate them" is as good a reason as any other. But if you really want a "rational" reason, here's one:

We know that the spiders are a sapient (at least as a group) species that we will need to live together with. Sharp lines dividing communities never work to perfection, and integration is known as the fastest way to get over prejudice.

Yes, it would be highly chaotic to add spiders to any mammal population, but everything is chaotic now anyways. This might actually be the optimal time to add a new population group to our community, before things have settled in a very spider-unfriendly manner.

As for the communication issues, people have lived with other animals whom they had trouble communicating with and could kill them for thousands of years, so this wouldn't actually be anything new, only on a larger scale than usual.

Also, having spiders live in the city would be great for detecting intruders, at least assuming they can act like webspinners.

@BoneyM

I take it there's a lot more to come with regards to the dhar secrets and that we're not at the point of unlocking anything else?

Also I think there was a copy/paste error.

The character sheet does this

[X] [LIBRARY] No purchase.
[X] [ENCHANTMENT] No purchase.

There is that saying about keeping friends close and enemies closer, which might apply for those of uncertain reliability as well. Not to mention, if this works, we have another major ally that's actually good for underground fighting, and isn't subject to the same attrition issues the Dwarves have. But it'll take time to get used to them, so we'll ease into this with a military alliance.

Undumgi, I want the ex-merchant, seeing how heavily involved in commerce they'll be.

Armor, one of the largest worries for Karak Eight Peaks is Belegar's non-traditionalist tendencies affecting relations. Returning stolen armour might go some way to alleviating that, and sends a good message to other Holds anyway.

Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with Warhammer. Who is the Lady, and how do we know she's devoted to her? I didn't think there was mention of a god in her writeup.

She's a Questing Knight, a Bretonnian noble going on a holy quest to prove her worth to the Lady, who is the goddess of an armoured boot stamping on a peasant's face, forever chivalry.

But yes, in Bretonnia, Ranald is a proscribed god, so his cultists are basically seen as little better than the slaves of Chaos.

I didn't really like the idea of reading Liber Mortis for knowledge, still don't to be honest, but I do like Mathilde parsing through the diary of Fredrick Van Hal and unearthing his story.

I'm not seeing the problem, can you point it out?

Spiderfriends.
Honestly, I just really like these spiders. THat's all there is to this bit of the vote.

On the subject of the Spiders, if they end up sticking around it would probably be a good idea to commission an item that has a bound spell version of the Speak to Animal's spell. Then whomever is in charge of spider communication has that item and is given a rundown of how the spiders think.

[X] [SPIDER] The We can be a powerful military ally against the greenskins.

[X] [SPIDER] The We can be a powerful military ally against the Skaven.

Approval voting for both of these since while a point can definitely be made about them being more useful against the more disorganized greenskins, I just wnat to make sure we do not lose the opportunity and get this rare and incredibility useful ally in the madness of the Warhammer world. Strange creatures there are aplenty, freindly strange creatures are rare as hen's teeth and should not be cast aside lightly

[X] [UNDUMGI] Francesco Caravello, Tilean ex-merchant

Eh... he seems like the best bet, knows trade and all.
