[X] Marry me...

And yes when it says he was making Runes for the Anvil of Doom, that means he was crafting one use items like he used to lightning strike the Citadel.

Gold is only kinda useful to pay for stuff. Favor and Rep is what we want to gain.

Spend gold to earn Favors? Reinvesting the gold earned as pay from being Steward and gold earned from EIC (once debt is paid off) help K8P and Sturland grow, improve economic value and earn Dwarf and College Favors.

+type one hand on mobile+

Though I think Court Wiz is interestibg as well. And chance to actually invest time for that damned Box and whatnot.

More hawking for the Stewardship position!

While I do believe we could create a spy network from other positions in King Belegar's court, it would be more costly and would be a personal project of ours.

However, if we create a spy network from the position of Steward, we could do exactly the same thing we did in Stirland and start selling the information we gather to pay for the informants. Just having information from passing merchants on what Ind and Cathay want in terms of goods will dramatically help merchants plan their expeditions for the most amount of profit. And merchants will pay hand over fist for that kind of information.

The same goes the other way, by selling information to merchants returning from Cathay about where people are willing to buy their goods at higher prices will allow the Merchants more security in planning a route through the Old World selling the goods from Cathay. Furthermore, having an official system by which a merchant can purchase the information of where Greenskins are currently active will make the Merchant's trip safer and provide more information on where to go or avoid.

Mercenaries would also dearly love to have ready access to information about who is hiring and why after a stint in Karak-Eight-Peaks. It provides options and job security, something that Mercenaries will pay dearly for.

While all of this is going on in the foreground, in the background we would be able to create channels for the more sensitive information and move it to the Grey Order for their use.

We could do all of this on our own, but it would be much easier to do it from a position of Steward. Not to mention it would be extremely profitable for Karak-Eight-Peaks to be able to create tolls on Death Pass as well as sell information to merchants and mercenaries.

Well good night everyone. I am hopeful that steward can pull a surprise win but I would also be happy with court wizard. May the best argument win!

I mean, if there's a place where it's possible to find the prerequisite clues, knowledge and materials for (eventually) restoring the rune of sorcery (and by extension the Anvil-making arts) to the dwarfs, the depths of K8P and nearby thunder mountain would be that place.

Also, I thought it was stated earlier that when kragg uses a rune in his anvil, it's not used up, it just needs to recharge like one of our magical items?

(Tangentially, I do harbour a faint hope that if we ever reach the 100 rep "tall dwarf" stage, we'd be allowed to (strictly for personal use) learn the basics of rune theory or even crafting)

Edit; also, we need to go stand next to a waystone to see what juicy secrets get unlocked.

[X] Marry me...
- [X] Soon
[X] Court Wizard

I'm not a shipper, but honestly this makes the most sense to me.

As Court Wizard we will continue to outrank Johann even though we're both magisters. In particular we can make sure that any cunning engineering he manages to extract from skaven lunacy is available to the K8P engineers guild as well as the Gold College and to make sure that proper warpstone decontamination experts are involved in his activities. He will also pick up information on what the Skaven are up in the course of poking them and the Court Wizard is in the best place to tap him as an intelligence source.

It's not like we wouldn't outrank him regardless, as being part of Belegar's inner circle of advisors.

Vastly overkill. We could get the same results from a simple conversation, if even that's needed.

We will also continue to outrank him as a steward, though. I don't think there is any difference between options in this regard. Except the 'no position' option, but it's too marginal to have a chance

Selling info was to help spy network budget.

Here harder culturally for internal. Economically? Depends on merchants who might also be spies for external factions.

Spy network in Stirland because Chaos, Vamp, and noble politics. Not sure for K8P, with dwarf honor and grudge system and hard to infiltrate.

Hmm, Grey proud of Weber as dwarven infiltrator?

No Ranaldians help.

Gold to earn gold, to make farms and mines, to supply army to take peaks, to get more gold to get more of more.

Spy when able.

[X] Stay single. Marry for love.

Alright. I'm convinced to do some strategic unchecking. Hopeless Romance Novel Mathilde is a go.

[X] 'Head Ranger' (Spymaster), Internal Focus
[X] 'Head Ranger' (Spymaster), External Focus
[X] Court Wizard

I am however still not convinced that Steward is a good option. I fear it'll lend itself too much toward empire-building, which we do every damn CK2 quest.

In other news, marry me is unexpectedly getting within shouting distance of winning. Especially given that at least some of the "marry for love" voters are actually "marry me" adherents which just had no hope.

The chances are tall, but they are there.

Please consider when voting, that all Actions can be taken by all Advisers - Court Wizards can infiltrate other Peaks and assassinate enemy leaders, Head Rangers can set up trade networks, Stewards can investigate Weird Magic Shit.
All taking one position over the other does, is dictate what we have to give Belegor options on, and spend at least one of our actions per turn on.

Please do not fear that you'll miss out on some aspects by not choosing a certain Advisory position.

Why am I still so very dedicated to Stewardship winning if I believe that?
Because when we fill a position, the other potential Advisers do not give their unique benefit options unless we spend an action to oversee them; they'll still be around, still be fulfilling their duties, but doing things outside their direct duties will not happen without that authority / personal pull with Belegor / narrative importance / Adviser slot.

Like Prince Gotri - he'll be around, leading gyrocopter teams and being a living link with his home Zhufbar, but as Boney said, if he becomes Head Ranger he'll create a new K8P Aircorp and create a focus on aircraft technology and tactics in the army, while if he becomes the Learning Adviser he'll create a new K8P Engineering Guild and supply technology from Zhufbar.

Do you see what I mean? Their impact is greatly increased by being given an Advisory Position, and if we take that position we'll only have access to that impact when we spend actions on them. Now that's not terrible, or unfair, but it is an action-sink to consider.
Therefore, you should not only choose a position based on what good we can do in it, but what good others could do if they had it instead.

Internal Martial Advisor:
[ ] Halken Stonebeard, Eldest of Clan Angrund.
Halken is tough as nails and knows more about fighting and not dying than any three other dwarves in Clan Angrund. While he's not up to date on the latest gadgets and gizmos, there's none better for getting axes into enemies.

[ ] Dreng, Hammerer of Clan Hazkal and former Ranger
A former wanderer that accepted the offer to make Karak Eight Peaks his home, Dreng is a born survivor and a master of fighting to win.

[ ] Marshal Titus Muggins
These strange folk lack the natural advantages of the Dwarves, and as such feel no need to fight fair. The halflings are brutally accurate with their assortment of ranged weapons and took less casualties than anyone else in the Expedition.

External Martial Advisor:
[ ] Prince Kazrik, Son of King Kazador
While Kazrik is young and relatively inexperienced, he's got a decent mind for strategy and has gone on many raids against the greenskins with his father, and his bloodline commands great respect. Putting him on the Council will help build ties with Karak Azul.

[ ] Prince Gotri, Sky-Thane and Son of King Barundin
As leader of the brand new Eight Peaks Aircorp, Prince Gotri is capable of projecting force at incredible distances at short notice, and placing him on the Council will help build ties with Zhufbar. He is, however, rather brash, opinionated, and hot-headed.

[ ] Master Rein Helsturm, Winter Wolf
Though technically independent, the Winter Wolves are keen to keep close ties with the Karak would be happy to supply an expert to the council. The wolf riders are vicious fighters and natural scouts.

Stewardship Advisor:

[ ] Princess Edda Grimbrow
Intimidatingly organized, Edda already has close ties with the Halflings and is knowledgeable in matters of contracts and Dwarf law. Putting her on the council will build ties with Karak Izor. Selecting Edda will cause an economic focus on traditional Dwarven guilds.

[ ] Miner Durgrim Redmane
Durgrim Redmane, it is said, could walk in one side of a mountain and right out the other with a sack of ore and another of Grobi heads. Selecting Durgrim will cause an economic focus on mining.

[ ] Hluodwica Stoutheart, Cook and Priestess
The Halfings take their cooks seriously, and Hluodwica is the finest they have, as well as the High Priestess of the Halfling Ancestor-Goddess, Esmerelda. Selecting Hluodwica will cause an economic focus on agriculture.

Learning Advisor:

[ ] Prince Gotri, Sky-Thane and Son of King Barundin
As founder of the Karak Eight Peaks Engineering Guild, Gotri could supply the finest technology Dwarven artifice is capable of. Placing him on the Council will help build ties with Zhufbar.

[ ] Runesmith Kraggi
Having graduated from an incredibly exacting apprenticeship under Thorek Ironbrow, Kraggi comes with the grudging stamp of approval from possibly the greatest Runelord of the Karaz Ankor.

For me, that means we should take Stewardship, because - well frankly, they're the weakest group in the lot, and missing out on their stuff most of the time won't be a problem.
An even better reason, is that we can expand the EIC and Wilhelmina and her economic wizadry up to K8P and spend our one-required-action overseeing them. Remember how effective delegating and overseeing Julia was, keep in mind that Wilhelmina was good enough to be a full Steward herself, and take a look at what she's accomplished since we've left.
Sell some shares to Belegor, induct his clan and perhaps some of the Stewardship potentials into the EIC, and just re-invest all our profits right back into it.

Perhaps best of all, with us not taking one of the other positions with useful potential Advisers, we effectively gain free actions that we would have otherwise spent to activate and oversee them!
We reduce the required actions for getting unselected Adviser options, spend the bare minimum actions on overseeing and empowering a loyal and effective minion with Adviser-level ability herself, and can use all our other actions as we like!
Investigating magic stuff, setting up spy rings, assassinating big bads, diplomancing other Holds and Empire institutions, research our huge backlog, aaannyyythiing we want!
