"Mathilde's metaphorical Maleness", short, punchy, has that terrible romance novel flavor. We should just get ahead of the jokes and name the sword "Mathilde's metaphorical magnum male member"

A runepriest is primarily a priest, hence piety advisor, or a smith, hence learning advisor. They don't go around being head of inadvisably applied magic, they make masterworks. Are we so sure that Court Wizard isn't going to be similar whatever a resident Runesmith would do? The dwarves already have magic specialists to study and investigate magic stuff, it's just they're all specialized in enchanting work over anything else. I think we'd be more of a varzent than unique.
@BoneyM Maybe this is too OOC, but what would you think of framing the assignments as Belegar's list of choices if he was the one choosing where to put Mathilde? What seat on his counsel would he request/recommend we go?
Yeah, we don't want it to be short."Mathilde's metaphorical Maleness", short, punchy, has that terrible romance novel flavor.
Are you saying that the best dwarven runesmiths don't have fabulous beards?Only if given to us by a handsome dwarf vampire with great hair.
Well ain't that something. 40 years from now OTL he was still the sometimes bungling sometimes excelling assistant.[ ] Runesmith Kraggi
Having graduated from an incredibly exacting apprenticeship under Thorek Ironbrow, Kraggi comes with the grudging stamp of approval from possibly the greatest Runelord of the Karaz Ankor.
But you repeat yourself.Only if given to us by a handsome dwarf vampire with great hair.
ngl if I were him I'd prefer this for Learning[ ] Runesmith Kraggi

So there's a good chance that one day, there will be a black orc warboss or an Eshin assassin running around with our shiny dozens-of-dwarf-favors runic gear. And when I reflect upon this, I conclude "maybe we should be spending those favors on things that aren't lootable bling".
While that is indeed possible, since it's not Dynasty quest, generally, CK2 quests don't end at the first characterSee, the issue with that is that unless I'm seriously misunderstanding, if Mathilde dies that's the end of the quest. As such, what might happen afterwards is more or less irrelevant for us.
Kraggi =/= Kragg the Grim
I recommend an advisor panel of Dame Mathilde Weber, Dame Mathilde Weber, Dame Mathilde Weber and Dame Mathilde Weber.Internal Martial Advisor:
[ ] Halken Stonebeard, Eldest of Clan Angrund.
Halken is tough as nails and knows more about fighting and not dying than any three other dwarves in Clan Angrund. While he's not up to date on the latest gadgets and gizmos, there's none better for getting axes into enemies.
[ ] Dreng, Hammerer of Clan Hazkal and former Ranger
A former wanderer that accepted the offer to make Karak Eight Peaks his home, Dreng is a born survivor and a master of fighting to win.
[ ] Marshal Titus Muggins
These strange folk lack the natural advantages of the Dwarves, and as such feel no need to fight fair. The halflings are brutally accurate with their assortment of ranged weapons and took less casualties than anyone else in the Expedition.
[ ] Dame Mathilde Weber, Magister of the Grey Order
While not a conventional choice for military operations by any means, she's accounted for more Warbosses than anyone else in this campaign and delivered a great deal of results.
External Martial Advisor:
[ ] Prince Kazrik, Son of King Kazador
While Kazrik is young and relatively inexperienced, he's got a decent mind for strategy and has gone on many raids against the greenskins with his father, and his bloodline commands great respect. Putting him on the Council will help build ties with Karak Azul.
[ ] Prince Gotri, Sky-Thane and Son of King Barundin
As leader of the brand new Eight Peaks Aircorp, Prince Gotri is capable of projecting force at incredible distances at short notice, and placing him on the Council will help build ties with Zhufbar. He is, however, rather brash, opinionated, and hot-headed.
[ ] Master Rein Helsturm, Winter Wolf
Though technically independent, the Winter Wolves are keen to keep close ties with the Karak would be happy to supply an expert to the council. The wolf riders are vicious fighters and natural scouts.
[ ] Dame Mathilde Weber, Magister of the Grey Order
Her strange horse magic lets her show up just about anywhere and she knows more than most about the strange horrors the world can hold.
Stewardship Advisor:
[ ] Princess Edda Grimbrow
Intimidatingly organized, Edda already has close ties with the Halflings and is knowledgeable in matters of contracts and Dwarf law. Putting her on the council will build ties with Karak Izor. Selecting Edda will cause an economic focus on traditional Dwarven guilds.
[ ] Miner Durgrim Redmane
Durgrim Redmane, it is said, could walk in one side of a mountain and right out the other with a sack of ore and another of Grobi heads. Selecting Durgrim will cause an economic focus on mining.
[ ] Hluodwica Stoutheart, Cook and Priestess
The Halfings take their cooks seriously, and Hluodwica is the finest they have, as well as the High Priestess of the Halfling Ancestor-Goddess, Esmerelda. Selecting Hluodwica will cause an economic focus on agriculture.
[ ] Dame Mathilde Weber, Magister of the Grey Order
The Undumgi might end up being trouble, but apparently there's nobody quite like a Grey Wizard to make manlings toe the line. Selecting Mathilde will cause an economic focus on tolls and trade.
Learning Advisor:
[ ] Prince Gotri, Sky-Thane and Son of King Barundin
As founder of the Karak Eight Peaks Engineering Guild, Gotri could supply the finest technology Dwarven artifice is capable of. Placing him on the Council will help build ties with Zhufbar.

Having graduated from an incredibly exacting apprenticeship under Thorek Ironbrow, Kraggi comes with the grudging stamp of approval from possibly the greatest Runelord of the Karaz Ankor.
[ ] Dame Mathilde Weber, Magister of the Grey Order
Apparently 'Court Wizards' are not unknown among the manlings, who don't have proper Runesmiths. Perhaps the Grey Wizard could be best used as the first response to inexplicable phenomena.

48 yards in Realms of Sorcery, for what that's worth.Shadow Knives have like, 18 yards of range or so, IIRC. And hit weakly (Strenght 3 on RP). And many targets will likely have simple magical armor.
Yeah, this just means they're semi-physical monsters that phase in and out of reality and stalk the one that called them to this plane. Like velociraptors combined with the Cheshire Cat, and instead of imprinting on their "mother" they feel a burning need to eat them.I assumed we had to roll to not get torn to shreds no matter what came out of a Lustrian egg.

Both Martial positions can instead be done Intrigue-ily, but Dwarves don't identify it as such.
The steward position also seems like it would involve a lot of defensive intrigue, since we need to keep the settlment in line and manage a stream of merchants. Both Martial positions can instead be done Intrigue-ily, but Dwarves don't identify it as such.
