On another plane, Mork has just found himself sitting at a dice table with a man who always smiles, never blinks, and has every ace to ever exist up his sleeve.
by the way boney, this is a hilarious image. just thinking of Mork suddenly playing dice and not knowing how he got there is just... great.

Absence of big greenskin empires or/and ongoing Waaaghs in this time period would've made this a whole lot less dramatic than it could have been. Still, a global effect is a global effect.

On the bright side, we still managed plenty of harm. With just what we have here, main Greenskin Lord units - Grimgor and Skarsnik - got Mathilda'ed anyway, K8P as a major greenskin hold will soon cease to exist. This is a pretty big blow to the greenskins in the entire region.

I am not sure Grimgor is gone. The warboss Mathilde killed was described as a prophet which I don't think fits Grimgor; and IIRC black orcs are less prone to backstabbing and more hardy than goblins so I don't think he would have been so easily shanked as Skarsnik.

Probably still have a bad time though.

Iirc, Grimgor just shows up one day; I think it is quite possible that this ritual was meant to empower or create him, and that by disrupting it he'll never become the terror that he was in canon.

I think this guy may have been the Only Gork John the Baptist to Grimgor's Jesus.

so if good and dramatic would have been a global civil war, i guess "just" good might mean a local civil war? im certainly not complaining

It's described as being akin to Ranald going from a candle to a bonfire, so I think he's actually significantly stronger than he was previously.
I think that is less Ranald's power, though that did grow, but more Mat's connection to him. After channeling power to the man himself, I would not be surprised to get a trait at the end of all this, something piety related for giving power to Ranald. The coin is payment from the God, but these kind of experiences leave their marks. Both the hole left behind from Mork, and Ranalds direct touch have left after effects.

Maybe, we'll see in the future. Prophet was not Grimgor, but my impression was that he was trying to create Grimgor (and was creating Skarsnik as a side-effect.)

On yet another note, I am reasonably sure we are not quite finished counting the gold; wait until the battle is finished, because I am pretty sure there will be traits gained from this venture, starting from negative traits like Wounded and possibly extending into whatever positive traits could be gained from surviving a brush with god.

Like, I'd be pretty surprised if our piety doesn't get at least a minor boost from this.

[X] Keep to the original plan. Find the invasion force and join them as they fight their way through Karag Nar.

Well that just happened.

Hmm. Another thought. Now Mathilde is experienced at feeding Ranald raw Aethyric power I wonder if it would be possible to do the same with her backlog of snake juice to help create Ranald the Magician. She's just witnessed a god modification ritual, so may be aware it's the kind of thing that's possible.

Not easy, of course. She'd probably need to learn ritual magic and establish a public perception of him on that role.

[X] This wealth is the future of Karak Eight Peaks. Stay here with the Hoard.

Mathilde can sit on it like a particularly petite dragon.

More seriously, she's exhausted, and tired people make mistakes.
