Something tells me the Orcish Gods are far from pleased.. also what looks like a million orcs are heading straight for us/Temple.
Which is why we're solving it by clearing Karag Nar

The field battle is purely a delaying action. It cannot win, period. Its intended to hold long enough to clear Nar, pull everyone into fortifications and the rebuff the orcs.

Shouldn't Mathilde be helping, she did pissed off Gork and Mork enough for the citadel to go on a rampage .

Even if Mathilde is weakened she us still a huge threat to the orcs, right? With her guns magic and sword?

If she could assassinate the warboss it should demoralize the orks further right?

Plus their is the part of the journeymanlings being part of her responsibility?

Mathilde can provide a morale bonus right? She did one up the greenskibs gods
In order: she's more help clearing Karag Nar quicker, she's not THAT big a deal in a large melee without battle magics and she's exhausted, yes but that's basically impossible when she's this tired and they're so riled, that's not relevant, and no.

While I normally would be all about throwing Mathilde into combat, the image of Mathilde sleeping on a pile of gold like a dragon is too adorable for me to pass up.

Guys have you considered how inconceivably scary Mathilde is to the Grey Order right now with all her treasures:
  1. The Liber Mortis for delving into forbidden lore
  2. Kragg's Gift for using the powers of the book without the usual instability of human necromancers
  3. The Coin of the Deceiver to lie even to the face of the patriarch of the Grey Order and be believed because no amount of mortal skill can trump the power of a god
We are like their own personal nightmare made flesh and none of their rules and regulations are going to stop Mathilde, only her own conscience. It really is a pitty they will never know, can never know.

I'm pretty sure that's what happening is that the orcs loyal to the twin gods are purging those Greenskins that were touched by Only Gork in the Citadel and Only Mork in the Karag Rhyn.

I'm reasonably confident they aren't coming for us.

If I may be the No Fun Allowed guy for a bit,

- no personal offense to Prospalz is intended,
None taken. "Will follow" is a flighty frivolous oversimplification of course, an understatement of many turns of effort, risk, and so on and on and on.

Still, as far realistic expectations go, at least half of my "Do stuff to Ranald" ambitions come from Boney once WoG'ing that we could have meaningfully, positively changed Ranald if we managed to make him primary god of our security organization that we had back in Stirland - a roll we failed, regrettably, but ambition remains.

With Mathilde's personal bias against Sigmar and general tendency to spread the good word of Ranald whenever reasonably possible, I do not see superprojects concerning social engineering and shaping of divinity any more unreasonable than other ridiculous long-term goals that are nonetheless theoretically possible and potentially likely if game goes on for long enough.

The specifics ofc are to be determined by the future of the game.

I get the feeling he was only that malleable because he's such a small timer, and as such it won't be nearly as easy now.

[X] Keep to the original plan. Find the invasion force and join them as they fight their way through Karag Nar.

Even if that was the case, it is not the nature of A Waaagh! to stop by itself.

Raining fire and lightning on infighting orcs is still better than raining fire and lightning on orcs that one one good/bad roll away from bleeding you dry, of course.

I think a chunk of the thread is drastically overestimating to the point of hubris how much deliberate god-re-engineering Mathilde is capable of. What just happened in the last update was a stroke of luck siphoning off power from someone else's ritual, building on another someone else's work, drawing on someone else's god.
Less a chunk of thread and typically more like 3/200 people. They just get so excited about it tho

Well, once they sort who's Boss out the Orcs will come this way next. So we got maybe a few hours leeway

Ha that was fucking awesome. I only wish we rolled a 5 instead.

Damn, one result higher and we'd have had the perfect outcome, still based on what happened in that update it definitely looks like we can potentially do the sort of sorcery that involves channelling divine energy through Ulgu as the conduit.

Yes that would have made things much easier in the future but I think the fact that it was a possibility at all means we know it's possible to achieve through other methods.

Unrelated to the current strain of thought but we're probably going to want to research ritual magic both of Ulgu and other winds of magic (which would definitely draw some attention) if we want to make use of the snake juice. Having bottled high magic already stable means really only need to find the current patterns to pour the magic into ahead of time as we don't need to channel any of it ourselves. So ritual enhanced enchanting or rune worked high magic is theoretically possible for Mathilde with the snake juice.

If nothing else, we need to inform someone why the Greenskins are so riled up ASAP.

Won't a lot of people die without Mathildas intervention, especially when the orc horde is at its strongest currently?

So shouldn't Mathilde actually help out, since tired or not she is still powerful? And I highly doub't Ranald would let his favourite follower die easily.

Tired as she is, she can't help out much. Continuing the current plan lets the dwarfs get a stable position behind them, which is exactly what dwarfs like best when fighting. Probably the best we can really do for right now.

Again, Mathilde is not at her best in pitched battle. And doing exhausting magic as she would need to right now is a good way of miscasting, with potentially quest ending results.
Better to finish off Karag Nar quickly. She can join the battle then, when she's not so tired.
