You know if Ostland is such prime forest area why dont we play to it? Apple and Cherry tree planting anyone? Cut precious forest and plant Fruit tree borders for the new areas and the roads? Mountain Orchards? Would prevent soil erosion and the resulting mud slides from the mountains from our other farming efforts. We are in the north so Apples, Cherries and maybe Nuts seem like a nice regional export. And Jam!

Oooh! Ostland the land of Jam! Alcohol and Jam! Alcohol, Guns, and Jam! Ostland the land of Alcohol, Guns, Lumber, Goats and Jam!

Ostland Orchards!...would that be Taal or Rhya? I mean Rhya is agriculture obviously but if you cover entire mountains in a combination of Fruits, Cherries and Nut trees does that still not count as a forest?

Until we take the halfling survey those types of actions are locked to us in the Ostland area. The MM survey shows as much, but because chopping trees increases defences we are unlikely to take the halfling survey. We really could use a trade mission to Albion for a few hundred gold increase if we can get a stable supply of Albionese whiskey, but Ostland internal defence is more valued.

Halfling survey should be on our to-do list next turn also. Especially given that we have a lot more halflings in Ostland now.

[X] Plan Massgamer W/ Freya as a name choice

I like this plan and it allows to save us a bit of money for later. The name being Freya instead of an already established character is all that I am changing.

@Massgamer

Is there any way you can change the name from Ortrud to Freya btw? I don't think i've asked. It's the one thing i'm not too into for your plan.

Personally I think the name vote should be separate from the plan one, but hopefully there isn't too much of a bandwagon already since I prefer this name.

You know, the pit fights are going to be spectacular with Ogres...we're gonna need a whole new goddamned weight class.

Wonder if goat curry will become a thing in Ostland if the spice trade comes to the province.

Cost: 1,500 + 2,000 + 7,500 + 500 + 1,000 + 1,000 + 1,500 + 1,000 + 500 + 500 + 0 + 1,000 = 18,000

Reasoning:
Military: I want those watchtowers, if that centigor fleet makes landfall almost the entirety of the coast that we've built up would get fucked and then they'd go on to re-infest the hohenzolern forest which we've spent so much time and energy to keep it relatively clear, I'd very much prefer to sink them while they're out of their element.

Navy: replacing loses and getting ready to fire the naval mercenaries next turn when we build the merc office.

Diplomacy: amber wizards to further protect the forests and fight club/arenas that I'm not supposed to talk about

Stewardship: clear the forest and get the logging industry ready for the needs of the charcoal industry before we build it so that we wouldn't need to play catchup with such precious resources as good wood. Goats because the sooner we get it the sooner it will start paying off and Irrigation because besides helping our farms it will also help our settlements get clean water which means less travel time for them and better overall health, less chance of an outbreak of disease as well, don't want pappa nurgle moving in to the middle mountains of all places.

Research: cheap and important, an airforce would be a gamechanger and we could use the few ones we do get out of this action to help scout the coast.

Piety: cheap, would've preferred the great kitchen but it's way too expensive for this turn.

Intrigue: none of them are immediately important and any one of them would push the budget over the edge. Not taking any hurts but not as much as not taking any of the other actions.

Personal: we can DD engineering studies for no cost and taking it now would presumably lower the cost of our other personal actions regarding engineering. Horfists are a general upgrade to our troops and the added defense and parry save they get would reduce losses meaning less maintenance cost (to heal injuries and replace loses) and better overall troops in the wars to come (the centigors are getting me worried if you haven't noticed)

Name: eh, I slightly prefer Freya but I don't really care

@torroar could we get a cheap intrigue option? Like using Sabine's contacts in the Nassau traders to spread our spy network or smth

not sold on the flying ostlanders.
all thou i must say the image is very funny.

They are rather strange, but in the world of Warhammer Fantasy, they are viable:
Birdmen of Catrazza

The Birdmen were created by one madman and a small team. These wings were made by an entire engineering school's work, funded far better than the Birdmen's creators ever were.

It's almost like certain options are gateways to [--->other<---] options.

If you don't select an option which inherently spreads/requires an outside-of-province spy network, one that would therefore need support/expansion, then there won't be an action to support/expand them. Okay?

I'm a bit confused, why wouldn't someone decide to build a basic spy network in advance to then use later? Mechanically, we would pay something to reduce the time taken for later out of province intrigue actions since we'd need less time to set up proper spy networks there since we'd already have a basic network. But you're the boss, so ok

On another note the only thing we can afford to DD is attracting Amber wizards which has only 50% chance of success so do people think it's worth it?

We could always go no DD but just curious on thoughts.

Yes we should, the last time we took an amber related option we only passed cause we double down on it. I say go for it a second time if we can afford it.

Issue is, that's starting to butt up against OOC vs. IC reasoning. Frederick hasn't done any major spy...stuff, to the other provinces in the vein of a full on spy network outside of Ostland or the Trident. He's chased some people down, but that's sending people across borders, not the same as establishing people for longer-term stuff. Sabine wouldn't want to do something that she doesn't think Frederick would quite do yet, nor would Hagrid or Marlisa recommend he do so. So it's a case of the characters involve not doing something because it doesn't properly occur to them. They did stuff in Kislev, but know that Kattarin is thoroughly watching. Other times it was suppressing a murder cult within the province.

It's not quite the same as putting the cart before the horse, because thus far the cart isn't even properly a thing yet, even if one does have the horse which could pull it. Does that make any sense?
