[x] Why?

Why is she not willing to even discuss things? We haven't made any actual demands (which seems to be a good call, if it was the only reason she didn't immediately go to violence) - she's reacting this badly to us even wanting to try to convince her of anything. She said she doesn't trust us, but she's actively refusing to give us any chance to prove to her what we can do.

There's no way this isn't ending in a fight.:V

Rionna isn't letting go of her shades. She seems to think she absolutely needs them to protect her city. And I seriously doubt the thread is even willing to vaguely compromise on that point. Judging by her running over Sabrina this update, and the QM's comment, any approach like the previous one is doomed to fail.

So, unless the thread comes up with some sort of curveball, this isn't going to end well. One way or another.

On another, note it looks like she maybe can't return the shades or souls? She says she either holds on to them or they fade away.

Hence the sheer refuge in audacity of offering her status as our insurance policy.

I'm honestly thinking she's playing up how bad her powers are to get the inevitable judgement out of the way as quickly as possible

She saw that we reacted in the usual fashion and promptly tuned out everything we said as just more of the same bullshit she's dealt with time and time again

Or do you really think we're the first people to try this?

Point is, she wanted us to judge her

And we enthusiastically obliged
Okay. Ask yourself the obvious next question: Why would she do this, and what should our response to that be? If she only came here to fight us, she's a monster and there's no fucking way we let her go home.

If Riona is as horrible as it sounds
...
Does it mean she is Riona in Leather Pants
Badumts

I'll see myself out.

When this is over we do research on the Iowa group now. I want to be able to know if they have tragic sob stories, their exact powers and the threat they pose, if we need to capture them, freezer them or go lethal. This maddening uncertainty cannot happen again.

I honestly think we need to skip the moralizing bullshit. We're not gonna convince her to stop in a day and it definitely feels like she's deliberately trying to rile us up for a fight. Maybe make it clear we'll discuss it later, I don't know.

Just show her the Clear Seeds, both experimented on and "default". Get what we wanted out of her (what the fuck is going on with these souls?) and then break. There's too many unknown variables for us to bank on winning immediately, not to mention long term political ramifications (if when Nadia finds out, do you not think she'll add a caveat "as long as your moral compass lines up with hers" to any person who asks about Sabrina helping them?).

Who knows, maybe she'll change her tune after we show her what we've done. But if nothing else, get what we've been waiting for this whole time now.

I'm confused as fuck that Nadia didn't say anything about this to us when she was telling us about Riona, and how different this is from what she implied. It's part of why it's so hard for me to take this at face value.

Gonna throw a vote I thought of while I catch up. Check and edit later.

I did try to say that offering her a clear seed wasn't going to address the cause for her soul-stealing

Does she even know what a clear seed is though?

It's not just a better grief seed. It's not an incremental improvement. It's thousands of times better. It's an effective end to grief scarcity for you and your meguca family.
I'm not sure we got that across.

So, how do you plan on addressing the reason why people are so eager to dismiss her crimes, that we want to use her power for dewitching, with Mami and Sayaka?

Easy, we don't. Rionna being potentially useful shouldn't be a factor in our judgement of her, and if she ends up gemmed, we can copy her power with Sayaka, Homura, and Kirika at that point, once Sayaka is already witchbombed.

Scarcity isn't why she does this

This is her conception of justice

We just told her to stop doing what she sees as her job

And frankly, the number of people going "she rejected the Clear Seed, gem her" is a bit worrying

We need to show her the Clear Seeds. Both so we know what exactly is going on with them and to show that we're not bullshitting about our intentions and ability.

We should add that beyond just wanting to "Find a way to reverse Witchification", we have very real progress. Tell her about hope magic and how the Witch cores react to it and all that.

Mami doesn't need to know today. Sayaka... we have to tell her about the witchbomb before she takes Riona's soul, that she will probably learn it by herself and so it's best for us to tell her. Something like that but with more empathy, as the idea originally was letting Sayaka making the decision about the witchbomb and now we're taking the decision away from her.

She's valuable enough for infohazard research to make making her stop of her own accord worth the effort. Shes also a nuclear power with the potential to instakill magical girls by gem blackening so fighting theoretical her would be as bad as fighting theoretical me. I'm playing a higher stakes version of what I did by pointing out Kyoko having other issues to Sayaka with her.

I feel as if we try to start a fight Riona would be all "you are inside my divination range".

In which case our response should be "kill me and you die in this room [assuming Homura doesn't just up and abandon timeline]" "who the fuck is Homura, what the fuck do you mean abandon timeline and how the fuck do you do the audible brackets thing?"

I think we should try for a peaceful resolution, neither side will be satisfied but we can move forward, maybe.
