Possiblity 4: "He left alone" is not literal as in "He decided to randomly run off into the deathworld wilderness and I, Qingge, never questioned that turn of events", but simply refers to the fact that he left without her (and his unborn child), the by far most pertinent issue to Qingge.

This is the most mundane and disappointing option in terms of shadowruns and therefor obviously the most hilarious.

Since leaving a town alone is borderline suicide for anyone not a rather high level cultivator, and that he apparently "left" outside of of any caravan departure time, it also makes this option the least likely.

I know we're too full up to spend too many actions on Ling Qi's family but I hope we can do a couple of actions with them before the tournament. It would be particularly nice if Ling Qi were to play back mom's own compositions for her, as improved by Zeqing. It would convey so much with just that performance.
 
I few minors with the family, maybe attached to a Major if possible. As mentioned above, doing some music cultivation around them might count, but not really many other Majors we could do with them I can think of, unless we wanna bring Biyu to the ugly eel or something, which sounds like a great idea.

We should definitely do something though; Mom is already having a hard enough time as is, we need to be there as a rock for her as much as we can.

Just so long as we don't completely forget about them until the tournament we should be fine, but sadly other than that can't really think of anything we can do atm.
 
Mortals can't comprehend spirits properly, remember? Cui was just a snake and Heijin was just a tiger cub until Ling Qi become sufficiently advanced as a cultivator. Zeqing is just a blizzard, and River Eel is probably something like a swell or flood.

River Eel depends on if he counts as a spirit or a spirit beast. Spirit beasts (like Cui or Zhengui) seem to have physical forms that mortals can see.

You know, @yrsillar, while the interlude was otherwise great, one thing that disappointed me was the lack of showing here. Ling Qingge SAYS that she expected Qi to be "not fundamentally different" and those expectations were denied, and she says that "even the authoritative patriarch she recalled from her early memories paled compared to her daughter", but none of this describes HOW. What was it about Ling Qi that her mother found to be inhumanly exceptional? What ABOUT her surpasses the He patriarch?

This was one of the points I was most looking forward to seeing from the interlude, and it's lack makes me sad. :(

Ling Qi had no issue seeing the physicality of spirit beasts, she just couldn't understand them. It's spirits that can't be seen by mortals.

Rather than get all in-your-face about how much better she is at everything, i think Ling Qi should instead spend time composing together with mom (and lil'sis can play with Zhengui?).

Ling Qi's not doing it purposefully. It's just like, why bother opening a door when you can just jump through the shadows into the other room? Why climb stairs when you can just float up to the next story? Why let wind mess up your hair when you can tell it what to do?
 
Do remember that LQ has been living with just other cultivators for the past 40 weeks, and that the transformation from using doors to shadow teleportation wasn't behavioural; it was practical.

By the time she was able to do this, she was probably used to everyone else already doing similar things except in formal situations (which being with her mother is not). The moment she was in a position to use her enhanced abilities she was already behind everyone else, she was the mortal watching everyone else do the crazy stuff. She wouldn't even have considered changing her behaviour, she would just do what she could to try to match those around her, and what she could do would simply get more and more extreme until we get too now.

She probably doesn't even realise she's doing something until she notices her mothers expression, and considering in this case she moved so fast her mom didn't have time to react she likely thought nothing of it.

This does sound a little much from an outside perspective, but 40 weeks of a new normal for a 14/15 year old girl is a big deal (and LQ being slightly airheaded probably didn't help either).

I'd say the opposite here.

Ling Qi is currently doing things no one but Meizhen, CRX and Sun Liling are capable of doing. In fact, she is the only one who has a casual dematarialisation technique she uses pretty constantly as well as one of the few having a day to day flight she uses to say hello to people.

While Ling Qi uses those habitually, she also relishes the power and control it gives her, and those are not 'catching up to others' anymore. Ling Qi hasn't been 'catching up to others' since the first thunderdom, really- except for the Monsters, obviously.

My suggestion wasn't about showing off though. Mom's compositions contain her feelings about her life. Ling Qi playing would show that she has understood the hardships her mother has gone through.

The catching up to others was intended to be about the very beginning here prior to thunderdome, and although true about the dematerialization I don't think the specific ability is the point.

What I think happened was she first showed up as a mortal and met Meizhen, who was already at this point barely sleeping or eating (although second one may be due to bloodline admittedly), and similarly when others hurried to places they would use the full power of their cultivation to do so. As such, when she did gain the ability to copy them (reached gold boy) she did so, because it was practical. Now already doing this, when she further improved she continued.

When she needed to sleep less she did so, when she could run places faster she did so, when she needed to eat less she did so, this wasn't a concious change in her behaviour except for that first decision to copy others when she first broke through to gold. And so this practical outlook continued as her abilities grew; when she broke through she would run faster. When she unlocked the ability to shadowstep why wouldn't she use it to enhance her running? She was already using her cultivation to move places.

A very good point about the relishing of the power, she would be loath to give up any sort of freedom, although I think that this would be secondary.

I agree with the rest of your point, but I'd like to take issue with this statement. Back at the first thunderdome, we were still catching up to people. Even among our year, we had only started catching up to the Golden Fields group. It wouldn't take monsters to phase us - even Huang Da was noticeably ahead of us, much less Kang Zihao.

Personally, Thunderdome redux was the first time it felt like Ling Qi was actually a Power among our peer group, not merely someone with potential. It wasn't until we Growing Pains that it felt like the same was true for the whole outer sect and not just our year.

My entire point is that this is conjecture.

Nothing says there was no outgoing caravan the day he left.
"Stealing alone from city in the early morning hours" could have easily meant "He left without me and his child", because it does not need to be literal.

And Qingge was a sheltered teenage girl in love, who was living on her own for the first time in her life.
She could have either not known when the caravan was leaving (she did not mention interacting with anyone else from it and not introducing his lover to his social circle is one of those major red flags a teenager could have overlooked all too easily) or he could have told her they'll leave with the next caravan for some dubious reason and she would have believed him anyways.
