[X] Regrowth - Ghyran, instantly restores someone to full health from any state up to and including 'recently dead'. -9 College Favours

@BoneyM what is our current Magic score? It seems a little low on the front page.

[] Regrowth - Ghyran, instantly restores someone to full health from any state up to and including 'recently dead'. -9 College Favours

Why should we get it? Well...
- Mathilde gets into pitched battle and loses a hand. Fixed.
- Dwarf king is beheaded, and Mathilde is near. Fixed.
-
Mathilde is dying with chaos houn literally tearing her throat out. Fixed.
- Mathilde miscasts and irreperably damages her body. Fixed.
-
Dwarf friend dies to toll, literally torn apart. Fixed.

Anything at all that could happen - it fixes it. Lost limbs. Poison. Torn guts. Being torm in half... all of that is fixed. It is far more than healing. It's complete restoration.

Hell, forget about Dwarf adventures and think of the future! There will be time for Mathilde to experiment with her own version Elixir of eternal Life. Any mistakes made there, a minor fault that would leave her dying, or in literally pieces, would all be fixed.

It is very much worth getting!

[X] As a chronicler, here to record events.
[X] As a representative of the Grey Order, here to lend a hand where it can be of most use.

[X] Nothing further was commissioned.

....

Uhhhh.

The Elixir of Eternal Life isn't a good thing.

Anyway, Magic 6 is Peak Magister level magical oomph. Any more and we'd be a candidate for promotion to Wizard Lord.

[X ] As a wanderer, not entirely sure what you seek.

Uh if having your body splatted was a solution to Dhar corruption vampires who focus on Necromancy wouldn't have sanity issues.

@BoneyM Would it cost favors to take along some books on spells from the Grey Orders library? We'll probably have some time to practice spells on our journey, and some spells like Shroud of Invisibility, Shadow Knives or Universal Confusion might be very useful for the fighting there. Maybe we could even take along a primer on Battlemagic, it seems entirely possible that we hit Magic 7 before we come back from this campaign, and learning how to use teleport cantrips is probably a lot safer if we don't have to figure it out IN A CAVE, WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS.

It'd be good PR, but it wouldn't be their property once they handed it off.
I was more thinking of the Jade order creating one for themselve, as once they've worked out how it can be done, it should be quicker to do a second time for both the Battle Mage and Enchanter, and would give them a unique artifact that they can reuse constantly to generate favors and influence. An Elector Count or their family member is dying, and it's not worth it for a Battle Mage can't be pulled, they can be fully healed and with no miscast chance. The latter is particularly notable, given this level of magic can't ever be cast reliably in the normal manner.
It would, but it's a rare time when those few months aren't needed on the battlefield more. The question of the forces of Order: can I please get five goddamn minutes so I can focus on building up just a little bit? The answer from the forces of Destruction: No.
Still as I mentioned above, once they've worked out how to do it once, the second time should be easier, and would give the Jade Order an artifact they could use for centuries and could be a very effective revenue/influence stream.

We are a follower of Ranald, how can we possibly pass up the chance to cheat death?

It is not bad think by itself. Identity of maker notwithstanding.

In its original version it was exactly what as name points - a way to retain youth. Nothing more, really. The corrupted version, was the cause of so many problems.

And either way, the approach I would preffer to take with that, would not be recreating it, but taking inspiration from the process. Going full-dhar route is a bad idea - but taking an inspiration and trying to find another way to achieve something simillar may be doable. We did it with once, we can try to repeat it. And it certainly is worth trying.

And here is where wholesame restoration of a body would be helpful.

I don't think they'd let a single thing even related to teaching Battle Magic outside of the Colleges if they can help it. They don't even let Battle Mages out of the Colleges unless there's a pretty big need to do so.

It wouldn't be used for centuries, it'd be used until the first time it's on a battlefield where the enemy wins and the person who has it is either killed twice or captured. And then there's an orc warboss or a chaos champion or an ogre tyrant who comes back when killed.

By making sure we have a trump card in case some chucklefuck Skaven Grey Seer tries to turn us into a Skaven?

Because it's functionally soul death when they do that, your soul, body, and mind are all transmogrified into that of a generic Skaven.

Dispel scrolls are pretty fucking important to have in case of disasters like that, as we're otherwise not really able to properly counterspell any Skaven capable of casting the Dreaded Thirteenth Spell.

I gotta say, I'm super pleased by the results of this past turn. The sale of niter to Zhufbar turned out really well, and now there'll be more dorf gunpowder in the world, and it'll be in the hands of those that share borders with Sylvania, which will help keep the area pacified just that much more. We couldn't get any use out of the kebabs, but I'm satisfied that Matty was able to give it the ol' college try before we cashed them in to the Amethyst Order. Then, oh my gosh, all those spells learned! That was a favor well spent.

I'm pleasantly surprised that it was the Overwork option that critted; perhaps we'll see more Overworks proposed in future plans? And the results! I've been pushing for a cat, but given all the events surrounding Wolf Jr., I think it'd make an excellent candidate for Matty's familiar.

The auf wiedersehen section was really sweet too, especially Matty's goodbye to Van Hal. Ending the update with Mathilde putting down her apprentice hat and taking up Abelhelm's hat was a fantastic touch. It really felt like this was the close of one chapter in Mathilde's life and the start of another.

Thank you for making such a great story @BoneyM! I can't wait to see where it goes!

Am I missing something? We can cast Dispel already. Are the scrolls significantly different?

[X] Boon of Hysh - Hysh, instantly heals all wounds, poisons and disease. -5 College Favours.

[X] Dispel scrolls (2 for -1 College Favours; can be taken multiple times)
[X] Dispel scrolls x2(2 for -1 College Favours; can be taken multiple times)
[X] Dispel scrolls x3(2 for -1 College Favours; can be taken multiple times)

Being able to "Nope! Nada! Never" the nasty high end Skaven spells makes these favors well spent.
