Eh, Sylvania isn't defeated.

But this is one of the primary strongpoints of Vampire upsurges, it being shattered is a good start, and better progress than any other Elector Count of Stirland has ever made. Seeing to the destruction of Castle Drakenhof guarantees Van Hal's legacy as a great Count, if one who died early into his career.

Also, at least the horrible wizard luck applied to our foes this time! Such miscasts, very wow.

Rest easy in Morr's Garden Abelhelm Van Hal. Drakenhoff has fallen atlast.

[X] The campaign is over, but your duty to Stirland remains. Go home to Wurtbad.

But thought our mission of revenge is completed, our Duty remains, and we will see to it that nothing threatens Stirland, the land you called home, for the rest of our lifetime.

May I suggest an extension on this vote? Both because it's a particularly momentous one, and to take time to celebrate the occasion.

Victory! :D

Wooow.

Alright, so I'm either for Spymistress or Wanderer. We've put a lot of work into our job, built vast networks, and it feels sad to just leave it. Then again, it feels a bit appropriate for us to just wander now, protecting the Libra Mortis.

Wait, I thought we still had a ways to go to finish cleansing Sylvannia?

Can we have them sift through the rubble to search for underground facilities?

[X] The campaign is over, so your duty to Abelhelm is done. What else is there? Leave. Pack your snake-in-a-box, pack your equipment, pack your savings, pack the Liber Mortis, and go somewhere else.

And Mathilde is freed.

We already got the spy network in place and are one of the most powerful people in Stirland. It would be a shame to give all of that up. Especially when the new Elector-Count comes in and unsure of whether or not he can trust us, but has to anyway.

The campaign was never to purge all of Sylvania. It was to Purge the Haunted Hills, and then to take down Drakenhof.

And if you wanted to loot the underground facilities, you probably shouldn't have collapsed a few hundred thousand tons of rubble onto it.

As I understand it, the new Elector-Count is likely to be one of Van Hal's children brought out of hiding, possibly with Wilhelmina as regent. (IDK their age.)

Even if it's a new random elected, I'd expect the successor to be quite trusting of the person who oversaw the destruction of Castle Drakenhof on general principles.

[Yes, that was two separate rolls]
[Rolling for miscast...]

...

"Augh, why did I trip and land directly onto this spiky silver bit on my candelabra?! Why do I even have a Morr-blessed candelabra?! Argh! There it goes again! I just keep slipping and falling onto more and more spikes! Who greased this floor, I'll have him fed to the varghulf!"

If it seems like there's debate going after the customary 24 hours has passed, I'll leave the voting open until it runs it's course.
That said, I'm very impressed by both the quality and quantity of your writing, Boney. I, and I'm sure every other invested reader here, appreciate the regularity of your updates and the obvious talent and care you put into them. Through it all, and the vagaries the dice throw at her (and Van Hal, RIP), Mathilde continues to be a joy to read about. You have my thanks.

Let's stick around for a bit. See what Van Hal Jr. is like at least. We can always turn into The Dark Lady, master of undeath later.

But yeah, I'm not quite sure yet.

On the other hand, we're going to have mad rep. What was expected to be the biggest meatgrinder of this battle turned out to barely leave a dent in our forces. Admittedly a lot of that was just the incredible wizardly incompetence going on on all sides. But it's still something we could use to write our ticket damn near anywhere.

It's really kind of funny, Mathilde is the weakest magic user in this group, but she's the last one standing thanks to being smart enough not to cast recklessly.

Not so much loot it as make sure no nasties remain there.

Could the dwarves perhaps scout for yet-unseen tunnels or such?

Now would be a pretty good time to keep this Purging Ball rolling...

At least, if we judge by results alone, this bit of the campaign was a masterwork of warfare?

The complete destruction of the entirety of Castle Drakenhof.
Glory, glory to the thunder of the guns.

Super heavy air support is also most welcome.

Still need to find out if Anton is a loyal regent or a corrupt schemer.

I am almost tempted by the wandering option, just to see what format the quest would take, but narratively I don't like where it would take Weber. She is married to her job, not her husbando.

Nah, the campaign is exhausted, too many casualties have been taken so far, we've got no way of pushing further without risking losing what we've already taken.
