My poor attemp at breaking down development of equipment earlier got me thinking about GDI hover tech and how the reactionless drive might affect things. If it doesn't need exhaust to generate thrust, couldn't you mount it inside the vehicle? And if you're going that far, put it on a gyroscopic mount or something similar to let it accelerate regardless of the vehicle's facing? At that point all you really need to do is conventionally generate the lift and you can cruise in any direction at up to 4.85 m/s, which is roughly on par with a car's acceleration. No exhaust to get gummed up in a Red Zone, no potential weak point in the armor scheme.

With the emphasis on ZOCOM we might actually see the increasing adoption of hover vehicles if integrating reactionless engines into them is viable. Especially if, as reverse engineered Scrin tech it functions fine in ion storms unlike a lot of GDI's extant hover tech.

I suppose Myomers are worth getting too.

@Derpmind , I forget if you're the one who came up with Plan R&D is Expensive, but the one thing I still don't like about it is the way it leaves dice inactive.

I know you've got "three dice on MARVs" as a third rail of the plan- no touching it. Is there any chance of persuading you to step back to two dice on Fusion Peaker Plants so we can squeeze out ten resources each for, say, Tidal Power Plants Phase 2 (activating the fifth Infrastructure die) and Blue Zone Power Production Campaigns Phase 3 to use the Heavy Industry die thus left unoccupied?

Considering our situation, I don't think YZ Arcologies are worth it. Better to go with power. Also on the whole, unless we need to fulfill the promise, there is no point imo. Rule of thumb, Fortress towns for YZ, arcologies for BZ.

The problem is that we do need to fulfil the promise of one more Archology project and for that, the YZ Arcologies are far more cost effective than more BZ Arcologies due to only requiring 170 process instead of 600 process, which makes them about three times easier to accomplish.

Yeah, we do. Problem is it is not close to the end of the 4 year plan. We are in the middle. If it was Q2 2057, yeah, go for the YZ arcologies. But we are not. And since as you have said, requires only 170 process, it can be built quickly. Like at the end of the plan.

Also, we've done phase one for bluezone. To keep it even and fair it stands to reason we should invest in yellow zones.

Thank you for the suggestion, but no. Fusion is an important technology, and the plan aims to get Fusion Peaker Plants done ASAP both for its +4 Energy and to unlock the next iteration of Fusion projects. (which will give even more +Energy.) It's an important part of the plan and this is the only plan that puts 3 dice into the project. I'm not cutting any of those dice.

If I wanted to be maximally dice efficient, I could put all 5 Infrastructure dice on Tidal Power, freeing up the resources to activate a fourth Services die. But I believe some projects are more important and more impactful than others. 2 dice on Yellow Zone Arcologies right before the election shows our continued commitment to the YZ and fulfills one of our Plan promises. Rail Link Reconstruction gets us more soon-to-be-used Logistics and may unlock (or synergize with) other projects. I prefer doing both over doing Tidal Power this turn, especially with the Peaker Plants providing Energy instead.

Finally, while the Services sector has a large dice bonus, all remaining Services projects are only +Consumer Goods projects. Which after the election this turn aren't going to be as important. We'll still want to activate all 4 Services dice as often as possible, but if we have to occasionally only use 3 dice to afford other projects elsewhere I don't see it as a huge sacrifice. (Sidenote: We'd need to use 2 precious Free Dice to get a decent shot at doing Fashion development houses this turn, which is why all plans are only aiming to complete two Services projects this turn.)

We've also built Fortress Towns in the Yellow Zones. Should we do the same for the Blue zones? No as it does not solve any of the problems there.
That isn't a fair equivalency as Fortress Towns can only be built in Yellow Zones while Arcologies can be built in both Yellow Zones and Blue Zones. Asking if we should Blue Zone Fortress Towns as your argument is invalid because we don't an option for Blue Zone Fortress Towns while we do have an option for Yellow Zone Arcologies.

I suggest we support the military this turn, to make up for lost time. Besides, all the plan asks for is that we complete the yellow zone light industrial belts.

However, and potentially useful, this lets us drop a hammer on the Initiative First party, by stating that the Treasury does not consider bigotry a relevant factor in the forming of policy.
