Considering it's discussing selling our jests (jokes) to their secret jest lab? That's absolutely a joke

On the contrary, perhaps NOD really does have a secret jest lab? Think about it, even the bad guys have need of comic relief or a witty comeback with which to hit us with on the field of battle.

What if Erewhon is selling all of our jokes to the enemy, that wouldn't be very... funny at all.

I'm sorry, the what now?
You heard me. There was in fact a fairly obscure Starship Troopers full-CGI cartoon in the 90s, which did a lot for its time and is closer to the book than the movies. Late 90s 3D animation hasn't aged well, though. Reminds me a lot of Tiberian Sun, as does the soundtrack. It was also cancelled right before the ending.

They deployed troops exactly like what is being proposed for the Havoc, with drop pods (which were humanoid for some reason) that broke open, allowing armor-mounted thrusters to make the final descent burn.

On the contrary, perhaps NOD really does have a secret jest lab?
Isn't that just propaganda and psychological warfare?

Carriers and drones are way overdue, but I also got the sense that everyone wants more mechs and zone armor if we're going to do a second push towards the red zones.

Ground forces are still at the highest confidence, I'm guessing they won't need anything besides the fortress towns to hold the new green zones.

Uh...huh.

Do you have links to any clips, or anything like that--
Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles. A old CGI series. Example of a drop in the show:

Oh.

Uh, thank you! Youtube kept turning up the 2012 cartoon.

I'd have said "the one place that hasn't been corrupted by Tiberium", but that isn't true.
"The one place that hasn't been corrupted by Nodism--"

"For fuck's sake."

Finally there is the development of portal technology. This is a theoretical upending of the entire logistics network, not just for earth, but potentially across the entire solar system and beyond. While currently only theoretical, it is likely to be an expensive project, as punching holes in reality is effectively magic, and will require substantial rewrites of many theories of physics.

I am super excited for this. This is a huge game changer for this universe's humanity. Sure, the entire solar system and beyond with portal technology is wonderful, but let's think shorter term and what's possible for the quest for now. One of our earlier practical technologies will likely be between two continents. Imagine if we could generate a portal between the North American East Coast Blue Zone and the Arabian Blue Zone? Skip the Suez entirely, just teleport to the other half of the planet.

Even better is establishing a portal from Earth's surface to a station somewhere at geosynchronous orbit. We'd be able to establish a space borne presence across the entire solar system without needing to fight Earth's gravity. A 0.5g G-drive fleet could operate out of such a station and reach so many locations. That's excluding the capability of eventually building portals between Earth and the Moon, then Mars. Skip the ships entirely. Just send repulsor craft between planets. Being able to build something that enables the capability of an orbital elevator without the vulnerability of Nod sending missiles at it. This would be a megaproject worth undertaking.

The holy grail would be being able to build a portal generator that could generate two free-standing portals, even if only within a planet's diameter. OSRCT would give their arms and legs for that kind of instant deployment capability without fear or anti-air interdiction. But this likely is decades away, post quest.

I really hope we can start working towards portals right away. Even if just throwing 1 die a turn at it to make slow and steady progress. The payoff is immense, even if far away.

Mmmm...

Some nice tasty upgrades in there.

Our air force is going to get a MAJOR boost it looks like with wingmen, lasers, and plasma warheads. Our pilots should be much safer as well.

Navy needs ships badly. We should probably builds a escort and a frigate dock if possible.

Enterprise looks like a winner. All signs point to orbital industry being hugely important to a bunch of stuff. Especially new satellite stuff when we clear enough orbits.

Looks like the Talons want mastodon development and everything else can go on hold for now.

Military only want zone suits.

Zone command only wants Military to get zone suits.

Pretty good update. Besides some sabotage things seem to be going quite well.

Wow... Our AI was so terrible that nod stopped trying to infiltrate the labs.

I didn't even know you could embed videos. I've only had an account for about a month, and it was specifically because of this quest. Thought it would pop up.

Top bar of the reply window the '...' tab should say insert when you hover over it, click that and select media from the drop down menu. A window will pop up asking for a url put the url of the video you want to post in there. It also lists all the sites it can pull from, so as long as the url goes to one of those sites it will work. Youtube is one of the valid sites.

The original Starship Troopers novel that both the show and the 'so bad it's good' movie were based on was actually published all the way back in 1959. It's one of the big name scifi classics.
I have, in fact, read the book, and I knew about the movies and the 2012 CGI cartoons albeit I haven't actually watched them.

But I hadn't heard of an all-CGI cartoon in the 90s.

So is NOD gonna have a harder time the more we push them into the red zones or do they have tech to deal with those problems of a red zones for there manufacturing and to feed there pop?

NOD can probably deal with red zone to a degree. Were they'd still produce warmachines and tools and so forth.

But it's still an extremely poisionous and actively intruding environment. They can deal with it a lot better then GDI can, but they will suffer attrition and the fact they need to spend more resources defending base against tiberium then building warmachines.

It'z essentially a slow grind down of them

If Nod gets pushed out of a significant number of Yellow Zones, they're going to have to deal with the loss of most of the population they once relied on as a workforce, tax base, and recruiting pool, on top of the harshness of Red Zone environments.

Honestly, I am worried about Portal technology. Feels like technomancer's target #1.

Hopefully we'll keep investing into Talons, as they're are our main defense. Especially anything involving neural interfaces- could possibly serve as a counterweight against tech-control.

According to the Battle of St. Petersburg post, we do use the Ion Cannons to harass Nod formations, they've adapted to them by marching far apart.
oh... should that mean that NOD is especially vulnerable during battle then?
If their forces are so distant from each other (enough that they can avoid being wiped out by ion cannon), they must be practically served for defeat in detail.
Well, a lot of their basic tech is that, only with some degree of mechanization because they can't just throw away soldiers.
Isnt that NOD strength over the GDI? the whole "throw away soldiers"
their population/manpower is practically infinite compared to GDI, with GDI having better quality on average because NOD doesnt really train their people.
Places like his Threshold Tower, which could probably laugh off an energy blast big enough to blow the planet up underneath it.
While the tower itself is invulnerable, the NOD forces there are vulnerable.
I imagine if NOD stated to put actual industry there, it would make for a tempting well known target.
I thought the reason GDI didnt attack there was because the tower was inactive and invulnerable.

Mmm I do love me all those new weapon systems spinning up. A shame they all seem to want STUs, but we're already planning to make that advanced material manufacturing bay, so it works out.

Looking at the map, I still very strong support spinning up Chicago phase 4. It's in a great location to turn that Green Zone Blue and it amost covers our processing goals on it's own.

War Updates showed otherwise. If we want to hold and defend, that's Ground Forces. Talons are offensive, striking deep, hard and fast. I expect them and our Orbital Drop Forces to become best friends in the near future.

Not as much as in the past. Our upgrades have made attritable random mook less effective. Now you need some what well trained mooks instead.
The bigger issue is the stress carelessly losing such troops place on NOD. Even if they have the larger population compared to GDI and advanced tib refining techs that lets them attain near/actual parity overall against GDI in sum, stresses on the system is still unwanted stress.
That means every casualty has to have some purpose or use. NOD can't just lob bodies at us for no reason.
While the tower itself is invulnerable, the NOD forces there are vulnerable.
You are forgetting that NOD has both stealth and Ion Disruptors that can blunt or outright block the bombardment right?

But Talons protect our top-tier tech and labs where it's researched. That's how it works mechanically.
And portals are top of this top-tier tech.
