The book was opened with no adverse effects, and based on what i read, and saw on the picture, it's likely a book on shadow magic.

As much as im sure we all want our daughter to eat the crystal heart im not to sure the crystal ponies regardless of what we just did for them are gonna be to cool with that idea.

All of that but the book has already been confirmed. Read the updates for the war it is stated several times that the land is a wasteland and that the Crystal Ponies are in no shape to take care of themselves.

I've read the entire story, and none of that has been confirmed, we've only seen a tiny portion of the land and only under magical conditions, and we've only seen the 5000 crystal ponies we've freed, but the entire rest of their race was just freed as well, so there's so much we don't know. So I think it's foolish to act like we know how things are when we know so little.
"The Crystal Heart only defeated Sombra and freed his slaves, it didn't magically revitalize the land or remove the years of mental trauma. That's something you're going to have to take care of yourself. Magic macguffins can only take you so far."
It will stop being frozen after a while. The wasteland part though is not going to be changed by this. The fact that it has frozen for so long would have destroryed the land. It is going to take a concentrated effort to repair the massive damage.
