Honestly, if we ARE going to end up studying the obviously evil eldritch book, we should probaly at least stab it with one of our Orichium swords first to nullify it's magic. That way at least we have a decent chance of studying it without..... the usual consequences.

Alternatively, for those studying the Skinned Tome, we have a circlet or crown of Orichalcum crafted so as to prevent magical influences affecting the reader's minds.

Having any idea of what's possible, and more importantly what NOT to do, with dark magic will be immensely useful.

But of course this will make both the tome and the Heart over impo r rant assets to be guarded.

It's good that everyone is thinking of what to do in the aftermath of the war, but I think its appropriate to have some victory music!

The CP need to be moved into the Allied Kingdom and Empire if they are to survive.
Or they can be moved where they want to be. Add to it that if we are to even move them it would be into our Empire since we already have experience in caring for them and other Crystal Ponies that can help them adapt. Moving them to Allied Kingdom at this point is just needless strain on them and can do more harm than good (remember they are not a thropy to distribute ).

Persons of Interest

???: A friendly and strangely casual Griffon female you met at your inaugural ball. Despite having a wonderful evening chatting with her, you never got her name.

Garibaldi Talonuelli: Formerly the Duke of Wingbardy, now the Grand Duke of Wingbardy, Talonuelli is a beloved public figure in his home province and an experienced administrator. After saving his city and people from Brochard's attempted invasion and negotiating his province's vassalage over a few drinks, you'd like to think you can count him among your friends.

Federico Montefeathertro: Duke of the (former) City-State of Urbirdo, and your Father-in Law. He might just be the friendliest of the former Feathersians, having agreed to back you and your kingdom without question or condition during the Brochard Crisis, and hiring a mercenary outfit as a belated wedding gift. You're reasonably certain he likes you, as much as In-Laws can like each other anyway.

Koryū Ryuō: The draconic Emperor of the Island Kingdom of Neighpon. Having agreed to assist you in the war against the Shadow King and making fast friends with your adoptive daughter, you consider him a decent fellow who you can trust to keep his word, and a valuable ally against any destructive forces the world can throw at you.

Konrad Hardbeak, "The Kingslayer": Grandmaster of the Knights Lion and Hero of the Empire. Beheaded Brochard the pretender, crippled Sombra the shadow king twice over, and received the very first Imperial Medal of Honor. Despite it all, he is surprisingly humble, insisting in vain that he was, and is, merely doing his duty to the Empire, and to you. He is the very model of an Imperial Knight.

Yeeeeees. We have the Crystal Heart.

Dinner Time, Gwyndlyn!

Hey, don't blame me, wanting your daughter to eat an energy field bigger than her head is completely natural for a proud and doting father.

Well, the big issue with the Crystal Ponies is that they literally cannot take care of themselves at this point. All of them are, to a one, heavily traumatized, many of them are dead, their infrastructure is in tatters, and they don't really have a 'chain of command' so much as they have a few mostly-destroyed bits of moth-eaten string.

I note that Sombras best friend / significant other Radiant Hope should be back from being a statue now, she should be mostly un-traumatized, and if i remember correctly she was prophesized by the Crystal Heart to become a Princess in the future, which might mean that she has Alicorn potential. I suspect she will be the one taking charge of the Crystal Ponies.

*tilts head* Okay... assuming Radiant Hope is A.) a thing, and B.) unfrozen, the Crystal Ponies don't really have a reason to follow her at this point. I mean yeah, maybe she might become an Alicorn in the distant future, but right now she's just a mortal pony with with ties to Sombra which, if anything, might actually leave people biased against her. So let's fast forward a bit, the Crystal 'Empire' has been rebuilt, but functions more as a semi-autonomous city-state within the Gryphon Empire (this is assuming we even keep the Crystal Empire together and don't just take the Crystal Heart and move the refugees some place less... fucking nightmare-ish), in order for this to work at all there would have to be very strong ties of infrastructure and economy between the 'big' empire and the 'little' empire, and some cultural crossover has already happened, with young ponies growing up as citizens of a much larger metropolitan empire, and Radiant Heart does... something, and becomes an Alicorn.

Okay... great, now what? I mean, being an Alicorn doesn't automatically put you into a position of power, Celestia and Luna were in charge because they defeated Discord, not because they were Alicorns. She may not even want to be in charge, but okay, let us once more assume she does, and that she did something heroic enough to win the support of the people. There's really no reason for the Crystal Empire to be independent by this point aside from things like nationalism, bigotry, rebellious sentiment, etc. Which doesn't really make sense from a logical point of view. Practically the only effect splintering off from the greater empire would have is to piss off a lot of the Gryphons, the Diamond Dogs, and potentially their allies as well, while also damaging the economy and putting the small nation in a very precarious position. As to the benefits, the only ones I can really think of is the centralizing of the (now much diminished) political power of the local government within the newly-established royalty, and... well, that's kind of it basically. It would be a power grab, or a sort of nebulous pride thing.

Honestly they're much better off existing as a state within a state, well... unless the Empire treats them like crap, which we won't. Which is not to say that's what is going to happen, I'm just constructing a possible scenario and breaking it down.

I think that we should read it alone to see.
Do you mean leave it alone? I am not in the mood for Evil Dead right now, when we need to recover.
(for those who have seen Evil Dead 1, 2, and Army of Darkness, you will see how that would be better as an event down the line rather than right now).

I for one think we should study the book. Stop jumping to conclusions guys that's a great way to really screw up. Sure take some safety measures but maybe this could be a way for us to get magic. We should study it why would it be locked up with the crystal heart if it was so bad?

Could be a reference book on the evil spells he was using to corrupt the Crystal Heart.

And it does appear to be bound in different hides.. on a planet where there's many sapient races.

Time to make our Canada, for the Crystal Dominion!

I don't think it's that evil, as we already opened it and nothing happened. Arguably we need an expert in magic to look at it, because even if it's a Tome of Grogar The Undying, I'd like to know why Sombra put it in the same room that gives you nightmares every time you enter it. If it's a dark magic spell book, why not just keep it in your room? After all it's not like anyone is going to steal it seeing as you've made everyone too terrified to even think about entering the castle.

Honestly my bet on the book is it details the ritual needed for a pony to become an alicorn. Which is why I'm in favor of burning it and calling it a day as magic doesn't help us at all and if anything the book is more likely to aid our enemies then us even if the book is mundane as they can use magic and we can't.

I feel that before we read this book we'll need three things before we even think of reading it, first a crown or helmet of orichacum to prevent mind control or corruption, something like a page saver made of orichalcum to nullify or weaken whatever magic the book has and a box made of orichalcum to put the book in once its no in use.

if we decide not to burn it that is

You people do realize that orichalcum has magic nullifying properties just by being in the same room as said magic as evidence by the door we had to go through which didn't open till the swords were gone.

We have magic experts in our court and that book can be used for us to understand magic better, especially if we get hands on magical population.

Man. Still can believe sombra is finally gone. Almost feels like it's the end of an amazing arc. He might have been the most evil character we've ever met but damn did he make a great villain to fight. RIP sombra

now we just need to find Equestria, roll a 1, and have to deal with fighting both alicorn sisters that have turned into day breaker and nightmare moon and we'll have the villains for the next arc.
