We have antimagic metal. We have antimagic metal! Alroight bois and gals it'z a time for a good ol' fashion clobberin of dat dere shadow pony roight propa!

Ahem, anyway if we can equip a knightly order with this and dedicate them for dealing with this crazy shenagins that would be great an- hold a second. Hey @Questor does the Imperial family/empire have a pantheon of gods? I can't recall reading that or not and if we even get the chance for some divine favors to occur.

No gods I'm afraid and definitely no divine favors were on our own with fire and steel.

well we have scientist they worship knowlage and science if that counts?
we also have the divine dice and fire?

well this is good news, orichalcum armor and weapons should greatly help against Sombra and its greater strength should allow us to build things we cant build with steel. I doubt they will be cheap however, and I strongly suspect the anti-magic effect has limits. I don't think it would work all that well against Alicorn level magic and even if it did make things difficult there is always secondary and environmental damage to consider. its a good force multiplier and evens the playing field alot but I dont think its going to give us the world on a platter.

Anti magic stuff......guys we have our weapon to disrupt sombra.....if only we could get some metal near anything evil looking

@Questor question: does orichalchum interferes with gryphon's flight (That should be at least partly magical after all), or with Yaks/Oni/Troll magically enhanced strenght, or does it only interferes with "active" magic? Does it work on magical plants (assuming we have any of those to experiment on)? Does it dispel Kitsune's illusions? Can gwin still breath fire if she's holding the metal?

We need to understand what exactly count as "magic" in regard to the anti-magic quality of the metal.

For the ones we don't know we'd probably need a new series of experiments, but at least the one about blocking flight and fire-breathing are easy to check.

If it needs direct contact (or does not stop flight) then our knights could fight with Oricalchum weapons as long as they're not actually touching the metal blade, you just need to make the hilt of a different material.

So, we have a nice anti-magic metal. Weapons for our more elite warriors are the first thing that comes to mind (royal family, a gift for the emperor, the Grandmaster Knights, the knights of the inner circles and the normal knights (if we have enough))

After that, the second idea is manacles, shackels, handcuffs, hornrings, collars.....basically restraints for the various races.

Depending on how much we have we could make even the gates of our fortresses out of it.

And for hitting/hurting Sombra in gas form/the Windigos we could make some special oricalchum tipped arrows/Ballista projectile, and oricalchum coated cannonballs (no reason to make them COMPLETELY of it if just coating them is enough of a disruption. This must be tested too)

Whelp. Black blades for the Royals is a must now. I wonder if orichalcum cannonball or scattershot is worth investing?

Probably not now. Better to have Black Arrows for our more accurate ballista. And much more likely to be recovered as well.

We should covertly hunt Windigos. Their nature is like Sombra's now with being magical cloud-like beings. The best forms of using orichalcum against them will be the best against Sombra.. most likely.

Whether that is as armor to resist, or blade to cut.. or fine powder or fragments/many small balls tossed through their form.

Yaks may help us find them assuming they can take on forms not visible to ordinary eyes, being spirits.

Also, one wonders if this would affect transformation spells if lightly touched. Or illusions of the mentally affecting type if made into a helmet or more covertly, eyeglasses.

I seriously doubt it will affect our flight as flight is not magical ours especially as we are magically void.

or if it stops passive magical effects like yak's strenght an gryphon's flight.

As i wrote above, we basically need to define what "magic" means in regard to the "anti-magic" quality of the metal.

A good first test to see if we could hurt a spiritual being with them would be to see if it would dispel a "not mental" illusion. If it can't do that i find it hard to imagine it hurting incorporeal beings.

We can fly while carrying weapons and armors weighing many kilograms. That IS magic. Passive, not much different from the higher strenght magic gives to Trolls, Onis and Earth Ponies, but magic nonetheless.

Now it might not count for the metal's ability, but that's different.

If only we could make some dust out of it.... mix it into paint, use it on stuff. Could paint equipment with it or paint the wall.

I wonder... if we make something like a floor panel out of it, if one of sombra's army stepped on it, would whatever magic they're under be dispelled...? or perhaps something like a wire/net.

waaaait a sec. this has suddenly reminded me.

the qilin progenitors are under some sort of sleep spell, right? and we just discovered anti-magic metal.... although, now that think about it, he might have just changed their fundamental nature over using some kind of magic to keep them asleep.... hmm... don't suppose it would be that easy. maybe it can be used as a component as part of the solution.

although, the question remains if we'd want to wake them up.

On one hand, the neighponese are our allies... on the other hand, the people we wake up may not take too kindly to a foreign power they percive as a threat.... us included.

Hmm... a single ingot was enough to disrupt a shaman... though the ponies seem to be controled by their armor...
!!!

MAGICAL ARMOR! MAGICAL MIND CONTROL!

We might have a way to capture and save a few crystal ponies for Intel!

Also
Alright guys hear me out-Orichalcum cannonballs. Too expensive to be practical or exactly what we need?

id say expensive right now
maybe iron canonball with outer or inner thin layer of Orichalcum
uses less Orichalcum but maybe same punch?

mabye some swords or Ballista arrows?

And for hitting/hurting Sombra in gas form/the Windigos we could make some special oricalchum tipped arrows/Ballista projectile, and oricalchum coated cannonballs (no reason to make them COMPLETELY of it if just coating them is enough of a disruption. This must be tested too)

I said it first!

Just a minor suggestion, but maybe should look into alloying the anti-magic metal with normal metals since it is kind of rare, or if it doesn't mix well, coat the edge of a normal weapon and exterior of armor and shield for similar effect. Full metal for family and head of knight orders
