This name is actually also a pun, which I shamefully did not notice even after my rambling about how great it was. I started enthusiastically shouting at nothing in the shower when it clicked that it was Mathilde's name.

Unlike the previous pun names, this one feels a lot less forced and a lot more subtle. Us both having missed it initially despite it looking obvious once you know to look for it is I think a strong mark in its favor!

On another note, has anyone here asked Boney yet what the connotations of the word "thaumaturgy" are in DL? I know some people were concerned it would only refer to wizards and not divine magic stuff.

It is a nicely deniable acronym incorporating her name, but I don't think that it meets the traditional definition of a pun, which is typically a play on the sound or sense of words.
Staff of Mistery, and Rite of Way are both puns in that sense.

Well, upon waking I guess I'll vote for my own creation.

But honestly, part of the reason I'm still trying to come up with names is that it is clear (was clear?) that nothing really stood out from the pack enough for people to truly love it. Even just the gap between the library names in the vote rankings and the branch names showed that, and the discussion gave the same sense.

So, for as long as that lasts, why not multiply possibilities in the search for something people don't just like, but truly love?

I don't know if that's true for others, but it does seem to be part of the motivator for me, at least.

I'll be honest, I love WEBMAT, not just like it, to the point where I will be bummed if it doesn't win (whereas all the others thus far for me have been "this is nice I guess"). It was a great idea and you should be a proud glacier-witch.

It occurs to me that if you took the M off the top, you'd still have eight peaks (four points, four upward pointed crossings) and the book # reference, while being a bit tighter overall and not having that awkward not-integrated bit on the top.
