Y'all if you want us to do things like Nuln rat extermination or Stirland Vampire hunting we should take the Bodyguard option. Since it would have us doing all of these things while endearing a GOD to us and protecting our friends son the future Emperor. Not to mention we get to build up high tier favors for latter when we want super rare materials or expertise for the Waystone project. The Body Guard option is pretty much the best for us since it has us doing most everything else at some point in the future all the while protecting Ranalds plan and indenting him too us.

it is pretty much the option to pick if you want to do all the other options. Cause the Queen said it herself, we wouldn't be just sitting around guarding a kid but building up a bodyguard detail then going around solving problems like the other ones listed to get favor for the royal family in case the Emperor dies before the son is ready. She quite literally says 'spend a month or three in the capital then go do whatever as long as it's to our benefit'. It would be silly not to take this option

I'm going to be honest, at this point if you don't like one of those options as much as the others. You (everyone) should be thinking about only voting for your preferred.

It's just that close of a vote.

I want all of them a lot more than I want any of the others (well, I'd take Nagarythe over Waystones/Swamp Town/High Priest, but it seems pretty out of the running, and I'd rather do it a while down the line after out latest adventure). If I pop back later and Markgraf or even Bodyguard pop comfortably ahead of Waystones I wouldn't mind taking out Loremaster, but I'm happy with my vote for now.

This is insane. Worst part is I don't like LaL option. Others is okay but not that one. Still so neck to neck I am biting my fingers.

Personally I would like to move away from the dwarves for a bit, and while I definitely prefer Loremaster to Waystone, it seems to me that it would be like this expedition but permanent and tbh I prefer it when we have a more stable goal then help all dwarves.

416+ votes.

Anybody know if there's been bigger votes in other quests, or is this the biggest in site history?

Finally caught up to the thread. Deeply impressed with any vote that has this many voters, is this important to the future of the quest, and has so many options that are inches away from winning. This vote definitely required a lot of soul-searching, but these are the two that strongly attracted me without being poisoned by a critical flaw.

Thinking very long-term, I love the idea of Mathilde being a core supporter and advisor of Emperor Mandred, one who has earned her loyalty just as Abelheim and Belegar did, but not this much. Heidi hasn't earned the level of trust where I'd want to support her to Mathilde's typical levels. And I love Belegar so much but the problems he describes for Mathilde to tackle, and the goals he is pursuing by choosing them, aren't enough to interest me. That one is just barely not a vote, because I absolutely want to continue the Karaz Ankor storyline and continue down the road of making them hope again, and I honestly might change my mind later, but right now it's a no.

Just in case nobody has mentioned this, I'd like to point out that while the Loremaster-at-Large shift is still going to be focused on the Karaz Ankor, it will likely still allow us to intervene within the Empire if we so choose. Not as much as being Heidi's right hand would, but we would still be a Lady Magister and advisor to a dwarf-king. The things that we'd be interested in addressing would be things that Imperial authorities would be unlikely to refuse help for.

Belegar has an interest in improving Vala-Azril-Ungol's standing in the eyes of the Empire as well. He's already allowed us to intervene in Sylvania (and that at a much more perilous juncture for his kingdom) as well as in Wissenland with Kazrik. And we're the Azrildrekked and his great friend. If we really think we need to do it, he won't greatly mind.
It's been mentioned. Heck, it's been mentioned by Belegar.
The current Emperor is asking for Dwarven assistance in securing under-Ubersreik...
Bodyguard and Loremaster-at-Large are similar insofar as they are "a variety of tasks, changing by the year," whereas Markgraf and Waystones are similar insofar as they are "one Big Job with a lot of subtasks."

"If you want to hunt rats, choose the option that's not hunting rats!"

I'm going to assume that the Bodyguard position can't be accurately summed up as "all the other jobs combined, but even better!".
The Queen states she doesn't want us to just sit around but build up a competent bodyguard group for the prince then go out and solve problems like the ones listed to gain favor for the son in the event that the Emperor dies before he is ready to become Emperor.
