@BoneyM Without Borek, do we know/can we ask if anyone else in the expedition has been to/knows about Karag Dum? Things like signs/counter signs/codes? So we don't end up getting there, then being stuck outside the doors with no way to verify our credentials? Also, the way we are going? I'm guessing Borek knew where Dum is, I mean the road to it. Does any of the surviving dwarves, or was it all on him?

Nobody got time to read over the quest anyway (really wish I can put that meme here)

Then leave.

Why the fuck are you here if you aren't intending to actually... you know, partake in the story?

No. As someone who has read every update, I wholly disagree with the notion that you're obligated to do the same simply to take part in the story and play the game with everyone else.

The game literally isn't anything without the story.

"Visual, which is actually not that common in the Light Order - we initiate early so most don't have a chance to develop their own before they're shaped by the Choruses. Citharus has auditory like most, Timpania has olfactory, and Barbitus has... what was it?"
I know that is less important compared to the last part of the update, but did that sound like Horstmann might have started on magic (or at least Windsight) before joining the Light Order?

Interesting, considering his canonical path before even joining the Order.

We still have near all of our military forces.
We do have enough food for 2 weeks. We can only store food for 2 weeks.
We would need 3 weeks of food to bail.
And 5 weeks plus however much time we spend at Dum to go on.

We will get food from the Dolgan, if they keep to their deal peacefully else with raiding.

So we definitely have enough food to reach Dum. Returning food will be a concern either way.
Right now the food stores of the Chaos Dwarves are bought empty, they are more likely to have food if we take longer to get back there.

So we need to trade or forage for 1-3 weeks of food depending on what we decide.

But we are more likely able to forage food on the steppes than back the way we came.

It is very unlikely Mandred 2 will be better than Karl Franz. KF was in the top three emperors of all time and arguably was not number 3. This new scion of the Holswig-Schliesteins, meanwhile, is a toddler.
Meh, ours is being raised with ingrained morals of 'look after the little guy', 'how about that democracy huh' and other Ranaldian goodies.

Question, does the Jade Wizard have some spell that could create fast growing plant life to, I dunno, buttress the slope as the wagons go around the corner?

He doesn't, and if he did, this could very easily make things worse as the roots could break apart the rock even further.

I know that we are not talking about an army in the modern sense , but that isn't the issue at hand: We volunteered for this mission and accepted to be under the command of Borek. The situation is clear, we are a senior commander under Borek and while Borek's commanders have a right to be heared, in the end Borek is the one that decides. The same is true for Snorri, he wouldn't have to take part in the expedition, but he did and now he has to follow orders. The idea that dwarfs, that disobey their thane while on campaign, aren't severly punished is very unlikely, it would make it impossible to maintain discipline in dangerous situations.

This isn't a standard military campaign. Borek is from Karag Dum, most of the Engineers are from Zhufbar, most of the Rangers are from Clan Redbeard which is only technically from Karak Kadrin, and about a third of the Expedition aren't Dwarves at all. The normal expectation of obedience doesn't apply here and Borek probably isn't foolish enough to try to make it.

@BoneyM
Normal wolves on Earth can go for 2 weeks without eating without losing mobility, though they will be weakened. Similar resilience holds for many large predators.

Is that the case for the large wolves with the caravan? How long can they go without food?

If they can safely go for 1 week without food, then we have more options.

If they were just lounging around in sunbeams for a week, they'd be fine. While being constantly on the move and needing to be at full readiness for battle while carrying a rider? No, they need to eat.

Excuse me but I have no time to read from start to finish of a big quest
Yeah you think I can freaking read the quest over how many freaking pages there are

As the one that wrote it, I'm not a huge fan of the idea that reading it is an unreasonable burden.

The Expedition has maps, but Borek hasn't shared any sort of signs or countersigns.

Don't think she was pregnant at the time, and I'm pretty sure the Emperor wasn't in the room.

In fact, I'm not sure he even knows she was killed. It was rather off the books, he might think it was an accident or a natural death or something? It's been awhile.
If she wasn't pregnant they were actively trying for a child - the emperor had already picked out Karl Franz as a name. And from what Regimand said he got an amethyst mage to cause a 'natural death'
