That's what the story quote implies. The more I think about it the more plausible it becomes. We know they have the motives to attack the Karaz Ankor. We know they have the technological means to destroy a monitor, they even enjoy using disposable proxies who they can equip. The bandits reportedly had muskets, and those are relatively difficult to procure.

The one problem with my theory is that you'd expect the dwarves to recognize a Chaos Dwarf munition.
Something even more nutty, their are perhaps chaos dwarfs not mutated enough to be instantly recognizable for other dwarves. Everything we seen about them so far in this story screams 'Chaos Dwarfs might actually really good at this sneaky stuff'.

Like nearly everytime they are talked about it tends to point out that they like using covert action.

You're the one who postulated that they used artillary, or a battle wizard, or sneaking into a dwarf ship yard and sabotaging things. To me all those are way way less likely way way more eye catching, then shipping enough barrels of gunpowder to make a large enough sea mine.

How big of a bomb would you need to sneak into a dwarf monitor to sink it and how lucky would you need to be for dwarfs not to spot it on their rounds?

How big of artillary would you need, and how far away would they need to be so that dwarfs don't mention it but rather a singular explosion?

Where would bandits even get a battle mage? I think the colleges keeps a close eye on theirs and any other mages that even have the potential of being battle mages outside their borders. And one just managed to get snuck into a group of bandits instead of being used as strategic deterrence?

I am amazed that you find a large floating barrel of gunpowder the most outlandish of these suggestions.
A seamine would explain why they hit a passenger ship instead of a supply convoy, they set up the mine in the known path of a future supply ship but the Okral's boat came down first, and they couldn't have known because all their spies would be in Barak Varr and Zhufbar stealing the ship schedules for the canal project, not in Karak Eight Peaks learning about the Okral's departure plans.

Definitely want one of these since it's where Mathilde is best. I'm leaning toward checking the ship since we can always catch up to the bandits after quickly checking for survivors first. It's only the one passenger ship so it shouldn't take too long.

Gimme them witnesses. Someone in there must have seen where the bandits ran off.

"Who attacked you, dwarf?"

"I did not see--"

"WHO FUCKING ATTACKED YOU, DWARF?! You have five minutes to change your answer!"

Dwarf lives are too important to lose, and master craftsmen doubly so.
Hopefully we can find a survivor who can tell us what happened, but i'll count any survivor as a win.

It's a new update and that means it's time for a new edition of the long-running web-show "Various Ways Necromancy Could Solve Mathilde's Problems!"

In today's episode, we have a sunken ship that still has living people inside and Mathilde has to save as many as she can! Unfortunately, being a poor swimmer in piranha-infested waters makes her less than ideal for rescue purposes. How is Mathilde going to get out of this jam!?

Well, dear viewers, it is simple. By reanimating the already dead Dawi, she can use their expendable bodies to look for underwater survivors so she doesn't have to search blindly herself and to bodily keep away any predators trying to gnaw at our precious protagonist!

Will this be the episode where Mathilde finally recognizes the power she wields at her fingertips and the folly of leaving it untouched for so long? Find out after the break!

Uh...stupid question, but would the Vamps do this to frame Marienburg to get pressure of of them? After all, if Roswita can't the backup she needs to end them once and for all, she won't/might not commit to an attack. If that's the case, the Vamps doing this and delaying any attack from Striland forces would be giving them more time to dig up bodies to make into minions, am I correct? Or am I just reaching? They might be desperate enough to do this, pressed as them seem to me, but I could be wrong.

>Be a hidebound Big-Stony-Stone-Place Dwarf
>Trapped in a sinking ship
>Creature of shadow fades through the walls
>"Hi, I'm here to help!"
>Many guns suddenly pointed at shadow creature, and more importantly, the wall behind her holding back a great deal of Skull River water.

it would be really nice to know if this was a set up by the Skaven, or Chaos, or maybe even Elves, but it's not worth leaving the dwarfs to drown

Awww Marienburg. Wait your turn. We can conquer your asses after Karak Dum.

Responsible use of dark magic aside, we definitely want to save as many Dawi lives as possible. With their generation time and litter size, they really can't afford the kind of losses they are seeing and we should do all we can to minimize it.

Part of me wants it to be, provably, Marienburg, just to see the fireworks.
Another part hopes it is Skaven, because the fireworks between KAraz Ankor and Marienburg will have terrible after effects.

While I would normally like to rescue any trapped Dawi, the fact is that we can't swim and just barely float. And to do that in dangerous water makes us a liability.
Currently there are so many different factions that might've sunken that ship, whether it was connected to Marienburg, a false flag to finger Marienburg, or just bandits. We need to find out which.

Was reminded that we will simply float through the water with substance.

There are a good deal of people that could benefit from blaming Marienburg. Skaven, Chaos, vampires, and dark elves could all benefit from kickstarting a conflict here. Hell even the Chaos dwarves or regular pirates could potentially benefit from it. That another party is using Marienburg as a coinvent target to blame cannot be ignored but Occam's Razor applies here and unless more evidence turns up Marienburg is still the most likely perpetrator.
