Mostly in this case Mathilde is mostly tricked out in almost all possible equipment as it is, we've just ThreadMadnessed that. Which leaves infrastructure, but she's also been taking full advantage of that as well, with her towers.
Not quite. We could still use a banner an armor. Personally interested if we can get a collaboration project. Enchanters and runesmiths working together should make wonders.

Re: Runesmith Favor - I'm not sure that we'd get anything actually useful out of it, I'm not even sure it would be a net benefit to us given how the action economy works, but much like we can straight-up rent out perpetuals with College Favors I'd want to rent some Apprentice Runesmiths.

Because we won't really be a dwarf until we can start grumbling at the beardlings to do their jobs properly.

No can do on the armor, I'm afraid.
Any runic armour would interfere with spellcasting, because runes are so different in nature to Wind magic.

Runic armor would probably fuck with our sword style, and definitely prevent us from using Aethyric Armour, which is both really strong and also makes us tireless, which has proved extremely useful. It's not impossible for a runic armor to be made that's worth using, but it's a long shot. Nvm, forgot it'd interfere with spellcasting, too.

Also, it would fuck with our style. Robes+Witch Hunter Hat+Greatsword, for this day and every day, to the uttermost ends of the earth!

Banners are great but they're still, y'know, usually physically banners? One of the major side benefits of Branulhune is that the Rune of the Unknown means our "back carry slot", or "long unwieldy item" slot, or whatever, was freed up, so we could now carry a staff. Given that we rarely fight in large units, it is overwhelmingly unlikely that a banner exists that's worth not carrying a staff.

Perhaps if we can't be allowed to learn Runecrafting from the Dawi, perhaps we can get some physics lessons from them? It seems to me that they've got a much deeper understanding of it than humans.

I would want it to be a collaboration project. We enchanter something with Aethyric Armour then ask a runesmith if they can somehow use runes to improve it. Like we did with the tower.

Re: the disambiguation discourse: I've been trying to make "Sparklebutt" catch on as a nickname for the Ice Dragon of Karag Zilfin until such time as we learn its actual name.
And then, finally, the dragon itself appears, a head larger than your entire body appearing in the passage, and you realize how apt the label Ice Dragon truly is. Where a Frost Dragon is merely dappled with white and blue like an early spring morning, the Ice Dragon does not seem to exist as a being of flesh or even of scales, but instead as interconnected glints of light, only the line of its jaw and the outline of the frill along the back of its head clearly visible. To a layman, the only comparison they would have would be ice. A more educated label might instead label it a Prismatic Dragon, but then a more educated labeler might fret that it would mislead people into believing it to be rainbow, so perhaps it would be best to stick with ice.
It is v. sparkly.

Have you considered a Banner with a staff flagpole? It's the wavy bit that carries the magic, so the other components should be clear for use.

Feels cheesy to me, inhibits any required gestures with the staff as part of spellcasting, looks jank as hell to anybody with windsight, runes repel the winds- most of them pretty weakly barring the personal attention of a runelord- but having them waving and moving about in close proximity to a staff sounds like guaranteed fluctuations in what's supposed to be a perfectly conductive staff, and has a strong odour of the sort of "when I give you a choice, I'm not asking for a clever plan to get both" that has irritated Boney in the past.

I was just wondering if there was a way for Mathilde to be even less subtle...
look, Mathy is in the school of 'hidden in plain sight' of the college, whereby waving your hands in front of their faces, they don't notice your book you shouldn't have or the box of demon blood or that you are a high ranking member of a cult that is not ksor.

your just not the type to do that type of stuff.

What if we put the banner runes on our hat?

Or, could we make our robe the banner and still enchant it with Aetheric Armor, since they are different types of effect?

How do things like a Room of Utter Neutrality, a Room of Calamity or a tower of Oh Dear compare to their magical equivalents? While we're looking into ideas for runelord favor. For the Collages, not for us.

Sparklebutt works, it's very apt and cute too.

That description of sparklebutt though brings the Thorned One to mind as well. Hmmm... I wonder if a giant runic mirrorcatch box would have work as an Ice Dragon deterrent?

A fair bit better. Magic is good at a lot of things, but it's difficult to apply magic in such a way that you end up with less magic.

(and the Room of Calamity is the 'official' name for the Tower of Oh Dear)

Ok, so I've no ideas for what to spend our favour on, so unless someone has any others, I'm going to ask: Does anyone have any ideas for what would be cool for our Staff of Awesome +1 to be able to do?

If we use human runes and some sort of AV/Powerstone/AV-Powerstone in it, I wonder if we might be able to have it bound to a tattoo on our hand, so that it is stored in the same sort of space as Algard's notes when not needed, as I expect that it would get in the way when we are fighting with our sword and guns.
