ur writing is pretty great and the angle of being the advisor seems very interesting.

doing more villages should be considered tough even if they only do it for money so u can show off our intel network progress?
i think our main goal should be seeing what our predessor is doing this turn and reflect that on the report?

We could try to meddle with the enchanted weapons ? Might proc a enchanting rise or atleast identify if more effort on getting a amethyst guy to come check them out?

Um another question maybe van hal knows a amethyst wizard to summon since apparently he has used mages alot before so it doesnt eat a action ?(maybe roll for it)

Having just read this through, I have to say the PC is fucking hilarious in how she just bumbles around everywhere, but somehow makes it work.

Also Ranald is surprisingly more chill, so far, then I expected him to be.

[X] Plan Spymaster
- [X] The disappearance of your predecessor is very concerning, especially since he's actively trying to sabotage the hunt for him. He must be found, and I've got a lead: Julbach.
- [X] The Stirlandian League is a gold mine of information, and it must be yours.
- [X] There is a risk of enemy agents infiltrating the castle staff - they must be watched.
- [X] The castle staff can be a great source of information and first line of defence - they should report to you.
- [X] The Wurtbad Thieves Guild is basically a church group right now, instead of an actual organization. If you started throwing your weight around, that could change. Imagine the power you would wield if the criminal underworld reported to you. However, imagine how much more damage they'd do to Stirland if they were united... and you're not sure that Van Hal would be easy to convince.

I say Julbach, the Stirlander League one way or another, informants in the castle servants, and the Thieve's Guild should be our priority (I imagine this could become are signature power base- the servants everyone treats like objects, pulling on the thread to see where it goes, and the occasional bumbling luck of Ranald)

[SEEK RANALD'S FAVOUR: Req 80, Piety, 77+15=92. Ranald's Blessing activated! 92+20=112! Ranald adores you.]
"Then how come you just dealt me a Priest and a Magister?" Oh, come on. Ranald was supposed to be subtle, and yet- your temper boils over.
Ranald: "And that's why I do it. You're adorable when you get angry like this."

[X] Plan Stirland league or Castle Servants
-[X] The disappearance of your predecessor is very concerning, especially since he's actively trying to sabotage the hunt for him. He must be found, and I've got a lead: Julbach.
-[X] The Stirlandian League is a cancer eating at Stirland's economy, and it must be destroyed.

Wow. Mathilde is advancing fast. Great update.

Discretionary Income: +150g
Embezzlement: -35g
Excavations: -20g
---
Net: +105g
@BoneyM Shouldn't there be an entry here for paying people in Julbach, Biderhof and Tarshof? Also the possible orders mix "I" and "you" in a odd way, apparently using both to refer to Mathilde at points, might want to make that consistent.

Outline of options I am inclined to offer the Count, since the QM has encouraged us to give our own framing and write-ins.

[] I've got a whole bunch of friends now, but I could always use more!
[] Drakenhof must be researched. I should write to sages, bards, and Nachthafen: find out just which vampires are resident, see if anyone knows about their specific ties and motivations.
[] The Stirlandian League is a cancer eating at Stirland's economy, and it should be destroyed and its assets seized. Which I suppose either I or Wilhelmina could oversee.
[] The Stirlandian League is a gold mine of information, and I could take it over now that I have a spy network and my predecessor is losing influence.
[] The disappearance of my predecessor is very concerning, especially since he's actively trying to sabotage the hunt for him. He must be found, and I've got a lead: Julbach.
[] I'm good with inspecting the new candidates for Marshal. The ledgers are recovered and my intelligence network is growing steadily, those are less burningly urgent now.
[] Seriously what is up with the East Wing.
[] The castle staff can be a great source of information and first line of defence - they should report to me.
[] Write-in: With the ledgers recovered, Drakenhof is likely to begin a new plot. Let's try to catch it early and prevent rather than cure this time.

Things I'm deliberately leaving off, and why:
-Asking for money for our palace-shrine. This is likely to make the Count frown on us.
-The thieves' guild. The Count is likely to frown on that too.
-Investigating the palace staff. Kasmir would probably frown on that since he just did that.

I tend to err on the side of giving the count more rather than fewer options whenever I'm in doubt. Because if we leave off an option, the count might write-in that option anyway and be annoyed.

Would it be possible to destroy the Stirlandian Leauge, seize their assets, and then transition those assets into a new league that we can build from the ground up to give us information as well?

This way we can clean out a den of commercial corruption but start the framework for an organization that can give us a goldmine of information. It seems rather sketchy to rely on a network that reported to a Spymaster who left his office at a very inconvenient time and seemed to use the said network for personal profit.

Wouldn't this go against Ranald's principles though? His Thing is to make fools out of the State, not strengthen it.
I suppose getting the state to look away from criminals is an accomplishment in and of itself, but still.

-[X] I've got a whole bunch of friends now, but I could always use more!
-[X] You've got the town of Biderhof eating out of your hand. If you could think of a reason to justify it, maybe all the taxes from it's lumber sales could flow into your pocket instead.
-[X] Drakenhof. You almost hesitate to suggest it, but... surely this must be investigated.

And a proto-report because I hear the sirens call of reinstalling Oblivion. I don't want to talk about investigating and hiring Ranald's priests in front of everyone.

@BoneyM If it's not too presumptuous of me, would you mind if I posted some pics for new avatars regarding the Dramatic Personas? If you like the current style then that's fine, I'll drop this idea here, but I thought I should ask.

Oh, but I should mention I found a pretty good pic for Markus, since he doesn't have an official one yet.

I think @BoneyM means we need to supply the reason for lumber-taxes here and now.

My thought would be as an off-the-books source of income for funding deniable operations. Like, say, our fledgling criminal empire. If it never comes through the Count, it doesnt even require the trivial level of accounting we currently do.

And again, that should be in a private briefing, if we pursue it at all. Our relationship with him is 9/10, so we're pretty tight, but this could backfire. Also, it can't be to enrich ourselves, unless we want the Grey Order coming down hard. Vow of poverty.

I suspect that's what the subversion option entails. Or should allow for.

I'm not hot on the thief option just yet guys. We need to frame it better.

And seriously, we must find our predecessor.
[] If I had proper facilities, I could do better work. Please fund me renovating my secret underground palace.
@BoneyM Actually, could we?

I agree. Can't confidently subvert the League until we've caught him (though we could seize its assets). That should be the thing we emphasise.

You enlist Anton's aide and you're soon in the workshop of the best carpenter in town, demanding he uproot all of his plans and start building an entire bedroom of furniture for you. Who are you? Good question. Perhaps you'd like to ask your good friend, the Heir of Blutdorf. Anton waves at the man. The man uproots all of his plans and starts building an entire bedroom of furniture for you.
Or perhaps you'd like to ask your other good friend, the heavy purse of gold? :)

Because we spent 20g on buying the shack, but 40g on the furniture, getting a bargain on the latter to boot. That's some expensive furniture.

--[X] You really want to deal with this. It'd allow you to throughly deal with the Stirlandian League next. Not only that, there are very few people who'd have the ability to move the ledgers discreetly like that. The spymaster is one of them.

Seriously, keep it simple, but we must deal with the missing dude.

I'm of firm belief this is something we must solve before moving forward.

I'm looking at our Influence over Biderhof and thinking that the place is just not particularly useful. More informants are always nice, but Biderhof doesn't have anything going for it, and shouldn't be a priority for utilization. It's not big. It's not on a major trade route. It's not close to Sylvania. About the only thing it's good for is further violating our already ragged vow of poverty.
