[ ] Advance from Karagril into Under-Karagril, the former territory of Clan Moulder, with:

I'm not sure I'm convinced we should attack Under-Karagril at the moment. Best Case scenario, we're left defending against a flood of Karak Drazh greenskins, worst case Mors manages to pull out the majority of the forces defending there and we're sandwiched between both armies. Best to let attrition do its work to both sides, IMO. If we take the Under-Citadel we're well placed to strike at the heart of Clan Mors, and with them committed on two separate fronts I'm not convinced they could do much to stop us.

What the hell is going on with the trolls? It looks like something worse has taken up residence in Kvinn-Wyr driving them out.

If we want to take both Under-Citadel and Under-Caldera we likely need to move now, with the news of Drazh still coming in strong through Under-Karagril I say we leave them be for now.
I say we Scout Under-Citadel and command and attack at the same time, scout Mhonar too see what the trolls are doing and scout under-Caldera too.

We take Under-Citadel with troops on Citadel this turn, and attack Under-Caldera with everything next.

I believe the Under-Caldera is the city of pillars right? The very heart of Mors, we should take it so they don't have a chance to come back to full strength.

Oh wow, that loot roll was a crit, good heavens. The average case on our loot expedition was worse than I thought it was. Oh well; it all worked out, and it's free stuff we otherwise wouldn't have had.

This is worrisome. Do we want to delay Karagril and try to loop around for a big push on under-Caldera? That would cut Mors in two and allow us to take under-Karagril later.

We should absolutely hit the Citadel this turn. I don't think we should take Kvinn-Wyr, but I'm open to being convinced.

Tentative plan before I go to bed:

[ ] Plan Leaping After Looking
-[ ] Advance from the Citadel into the Under-Citadel, the eastern fringe of Clan Mors' territory, with: Clan Angrund, Karak Izor immigrants, The Undumgi, Braganza's Besiegers
-[ ] Mathilde will command the attack: Under-Citadel
-[ ] Move the Bolt Throwers elsewhere: Citadel
-[ ] Under-Citadel
-[ ] Under-Caldera
-[ ] Karag Mhonar
Something to consider is using Kazador to help assault the Citadel. Probably shouldn't be done but I'll throw that in here before I go to bed.

Mors is fighting a two front war, and doing surprisingly well despite the odds

Under citadel and under caldera are practically up for grabs

Kvinn-wyr is also a viable target if you want to size the opportunity while most of the trolls are out, though the remaining trolls, including what are quite possibly Chaos trolls are not to be taken lightly

Honestly I'm a bit concerned that the Dwarves, especially Kazador will get antsy if we try to direct them solely to soft easy targets like under citadel and caldera
We may want to consider some interference in the under karagril one way or another anyway even if we don't take it

With you on this, sans being able to be convinced. We don ´t have slayers, and we can ´t spare the artillery. Picking fights with trolls is just needless risking of heavy casualties, when they are not looking for one with us. Also, warpgut trolls.

Karag Zilfin is the City of Pillars. The Under-Caldera isn't really a significant part of the Dwarven parts of the Karak, but it is where the Skaven initially breached the Karak and there's a huge network of Skaven tunnels below the Dwarven ones there.

They want to fight something, and well Mors isn't exactly Easy even at the worst of times. Assaults on the Citadel and Under Caldera are good fights in that regard.

I think we should take the Under-Citadel and let Kazador lead a raid into the Under-Caldera.
Taking Under-Karagril doesn't seem to be a good idea, we would have to defend against a possible Clan Mors counterattack and the Red Fang Orcs, without having Grapecannons at hand.

@BoneyM, quick question: if my goal is "I would like to attack under-Citadel right now with everything that is in the Citadel, but I would also like one of the forces deployed elsewhere to join that attack when they can (rather than holding the attack for them)," how should I notate that? Just the "Advance" order for all the units in question? Or something else to make the intent clear?

@BoneyM, can the rangers tell us if the architecture of Under-karagril conducive to doing a similar stunt to what we did to the We in the chiselwards? Basically bottle Mors up to their front with the orcs while taking most of the area and only guarding a few entrances?
Yes, this would be possible.
I wouldn't have thought of that. Nice thought.

Hour 1: Set up the heavy ordinance we moved up from Lhune to protect Kazador's back and bottle up Undergril while we slam into Under-Citadel like a freight train. Maybe move the ordinance blocking Kvinn-Wyr to hold Under-Citadel, if we're feeling gutsy.
Hour 2: Burn a line through Under-Caldera to link up with Kazador.
Hour 3: Return to smash Undergril with combined forces, move the ordinance up to facing Karak Drazh.
Hour 4-20: Fortify, recoup, prepare.

Probably too rosy of a plan and Belegar won't thank us for losing dwarven lives, but I like it anyway.

Here's a thought: Undumgi pikes aren't going to be very effective in the underground push on the Under-Citadel. Perhaps it'd be better to send them to occupy Kvinn Wyr and set up defenses while the Trolls are away? They could use the East Gate artillery in defensive positions, and between those and their pikes it seems like they could keep hold the mountain fairly easily. It's a fairly small loss of combat power in the tunnel fighting, and it secures our flank AND nets us another mountain in the process.

Advance all of them from where they are, and specify in brackets somewhere whether they're to wait until all the forces are ready or just hit it as soon as they get there.

@BoneyM how much longer can we have Dwarves sit on standing orders to maintain position and fortify before it becomes problematic, or rather what is Mathilde's best guess at such

Apart from those that might get antsy and decide to attack of their own initiative, there's no single breakpoint. It's just a limitation in how long a person can stay ready to fight and die while doing nothing. Dwarves are better at it than humans, but by no means immune to it. The longer they sit there, the more pronounced it will be.

Alright, I think we can take the Under-Caldera. Mors will still have a connection from Under-Karagril to it via Ziflin, so they should be able to hold the line. If only by throwing everyone they have left over there and nearly abandoning the mountain.

Way I see it, strategy should be something like this.

Now:Strike Under-Citadel
Next turn: strike under Caldera with both Karagril and Citadel (now Under-Citadel).
After that: Anvil Mors against Drazh, by this time they should be pretty much beaten unless Drazh is less of a threat than we thought on this front. At the same time, or right after, go in with Mathilde and kill all leadership, demoralizing the orcs and breaking the attack.

Eeew, this is fucking ugly.

Mors is suffering extreme pressure on two fronts and they're not choking out. They hid their strength well for a Clan that apparently has the "Desperate" modifier on all military actions.

I think it's time to take the Under-Citadel at least however, and then lead a ranger deep strike into the Caldera and knock out their breeders--ideally without drawing immediate alarm. It's those that let Mors effectively recoup 100% of their losses between strategic turns, so they can afford to go to the knife on all fronts and they'll have all their forces back by the time the next strategic turn comes around. If we can cut that off, the attrition they're taking right now sticks.

Still, we can start screaming if we go for the Under-Citadel and they successfully resist us as well, it would confirm the nightmare scenario that Clan Mors is stronger than they've ever been and have just been faking being weak and desperate to get more combat multipliers.

If we strike the Under-caldera without somehow countering Mors in Under-Karagril I think they're very likely to just run and let the orcs in rather than sit and wait for the noose to tighten.

OH HEY, UNDER-CALDERA IS ACCESSIBLE FROM KARAGRIL. Don't need to reposition Kazador just yet, then.

-[ ] Under-Citadel
-[ ] Under-Caldera

Punch Under-Citadel out, scout Under-Caldera, scout Karag Mhonar to get eyes on wtf the trolls are doing. If it turns out the answer is "dying," we can reposition the Kvinn-Wyr bolt throwers and take that mountain for free, but there's no rush to do it yet. Remember: our chief objective is weakening Mors.

So we unfortunately can't afford to hit Under-Karagril...

Wrong, we can't afford to hold Under-Karagril, hitting it is another matter. If Kazador goes for an attack to wreck their defenses and then pulls back, it will spoil Mors's defenses and they would likely fold before the Orks. Mors would then be in the following situation: Full assault and fully comitted attack on Eshin and an overwhelming Green Tide on Under-Karagril threatening to take the territories that they need to hold and, if it falls, threatening the Caldera with endless waves of Orks.

That would make 2 enormous distractions for Mors that they would need to address. Meanwhile, we can take the Under-Citadel and, since we wouldn't be as likely to attack the under-Caldera we would be likely ignored.

Right, after further consideration I'm of the mind of grabbing the under Citadel and at a minimum tearinh the shit out of the Under-Caldera before abandoning it again like it was a Vietcong position and we had free napalm.

Hell, the dwarves actually do have Napalm.
