"'Don't attack the Dwarves,' Qrech said. 'The greenskins are weak, the Dwarves are strong. They are not as vulnerable as we will be if you attack them.' 'Coward', Grot-brained Moulder said. All the soldiers he had given Qrech were loyal to him. They put Qrech in cage, Grot-brained Moulder had many ideas for what he would do with Qrech after 'victory'." Qrech's eyes refocus on reality as he shakes himself loose of the grip of memory. "What happened to them?"
It's the first unprompted question he's asked, and you refrain from smiling. "Dwarves from one side, greenskins from another, Clan Mors from a third. Exterminated."
Qrech's teeth rub against each other in something that sounds almost like a purr. "Good."
I figured out how I want to approach the skaven. We flip the coin to deciever, lie about our capabilities, and 'let' 'him' use us as a tool against the traitor clan.
Building off of three things:
- this is an adult, enculturated skaven. We're never going to be able to trust him, we need to assume he is always going to be working towards what he understands as the horned gods will, and he is always going to be trying to build status with other skaven.
- he reacted hardest when we immediately agreed with him by changing our phrasing to 'traitor-clan'. If he thinks he can use us to hurt them, he'll go for it. We are establishing this already: upping the stakes to offering to bring him specific heads and fresh news will have him buy in.
- if we tell him honestly that we don't trust him and so will be restricting his tools to just us, he'll understand this as us using him to destroy our enemy. He wants to act, he does it through us- this is true, believable, and tempting enough to be worth it.
So from this, we lie about our ability and lean into him teaching us queekish so we can better get him news about what is going on. Basically, the more he teaches us, the more we can tell him is actually going on, and the better we can identify and remove individuals he doesn't like.
Offer him the illusion of power, and a taste of it's reality. We likely won't have to do much more than showing up with the head of someone he mentioned he wanted dead to bait the trap.
We just need to know that he is going to try and play us through this. If we can keep him thinking that is where our game is, sneaking out queekish may be possible without him realizing.
Why are we talking about romance options all of a sudden
People who know that being in love and falling in love makes you happy want that for Mathilde. I'm one of them.
The thread going weird and having nothing else to talk about, flavored by it being the social turn. If it was a action turn we'd probably be nattering on about K8P culture or local geopolitics or weird ideas to ascend to Ultimate Power TM.
I'm amused by the idea that the subject of relationships is 'getting weird'. As opposed to the normal discussion about optimizing hellfire towers.
My romance leanings continue to slowly slide toward Johann as his interests continue to align with ours even more. The happy home life of murdering skaven and raising their pets is pretty stronk.
I really would be on board, the moment he expressed interest. Like, if he hits on us at all, I'm there, but until I see something on going to hesitate for the same reasons I voted against Anton.
