[X] Proof of the 'College of Necromancy'.
[X] Dragonbone.

[x] Books on Shyish and death gods.

We have plenty of stuff to research already.

Do we know if Terrorgheists are a "natural" growth, or if they're the product of Dhar/Shyish/Necromancy on bats that still grow @BoneyM ?

In a grotesque mirror of your blade, his fingernails punch through Aethyric Armour and your robe and your skin and your intestines and don't meet a scrap of resistance they can't immediately overcome, and agony floods through you as his talons tear open what you can only assume is your liver. Branulhune slips from your hands, and the part of your mind not occupied by agony begins to recalculate.

"It's interesting," he says, as he pulls his hand free from your torso, examining the blood and viscera clinging to it curiously. "Alive, you'd be useful. Dead, you'd be obedient. But if I can suspend you right in the middle..."
Shouldn't the Rune of Rancor from our belt have triggered when he hit us? Obviously the Spellburner rune triggered against whatever spell he tried to use on us.

Edit, already addressed

Look, we're already acquiring knowledge on Dhar and understanding Vampirism could be useful to some of our own research. As for the Dragonbone- using it as a template for a shadow construct would be incredibly awesome or it could serve as an incredible material to enchant for our own purposes. Trade ledgers is just really damn boring- we already did a lot to help Stirland and getting rumors from Sylvania is useful but not something that's immediately relevant. All it does is speed up the rate the EIC makes headway into Sylvania, whereas a lot of the other options are far harder to otherwise get in the foreseeable future.

Like a vengeful ghost, but actually the complete opposite of a vengeful ghost,
Mathilde, your crush was killed by necromancy in front of you, you vanish into shadows and you refuse to die. Let's be honest here, you are at least 30% vengeful ghost.

"I don't suppose you're at all tempted by the arts of necromancy?" he asks, as casually as if he was offering you a drink at a bar - but he remains poised to act and his severed fingers are skittering across the floor to rejoin the rest of him.

"I've had better offers," you respond.
... Come to think of it, doesn't Abelhelm Van Hal technically count as our necromancy instructor?

Also yes I am very much interested mr. ugly vampire guy.

... Not the worst case scenario, I will admit. I kinda want to see what would've happened if he'd succeeded.

For... Study reasons. You know, can't spell studying without dying.

Though I do wish we could take the dragonbones with us, those are nice... N-not that I have any indecent plans that would require a whole dragon skeleton! I would never plan to do anything with that!

Whatever mortal had the truly enormous amount of chutzpah required to PRETEND TO BE A VAMPIRE for years has my undying respect. What an absolute legend.
You know, we could take over after we depose the 'fake' Gabrielle. Act like we're the real deal come back.

Just start a line of humans pretending to be vampires with increasingly less convincing disguises.

Damn it, I want it all. Still, I won't get mad whichever wins. They're all good.

A shame. Before I read the last clause I was thinking of having the gyrocopter ferry the books to a hiding spot half an hours' flight away for later collection

BoneyM knows us too well.

I had knee-jerk voted for the two the QM specifically mentioned, but then I paused to actually think about it.

[X] Detailed trade ledgers.
This seems like the most important one to take. Fuck the quislings who enrich humanity's predators. Stirland can use their wealth more than they can, and weakening the social influence of Lahmians is extremely important for letting Roswita eventually take them down. I strongly want this one to win; it is a meaningful blow against the unrelenting shittiness of Sylvania.

I think this is fine, but I am not sure we necessarily need it more than the other stuff we could get. Raising our profile is a double-edged sword; I don't want to get enmeshed in Imperial high politics just yet. We've got enough going on without a third Favor currency to deal with.

[ ] Dragonbone.
[ ] Gold and jewels.
Grouping these together. Dragonbone, from my quick perusal of the wiki, is very potent for the crafting of powerful artifacts and, when powdered, can be alloyed with metal to make it stronger. Gold and jewels is $$$. We've got a good number of artifacts right now, and we only need money for trolling the Bursar. Pass.

Here is where my second vote is going. Information on vampires is extremely valuable in case we get called up to play Big Damn Hero again. The books on Shyish aren't very valuable to us, and the books about necromancy and the undead seem to have less practical value than the vampire/dhar books.

But, like I said, I will be happy as long as we get those ledgers. Please let's get those ledgers.

This isn't about what we get. it's about what we KEEP FROM GETTING TO THE TOWNSFOLK.
Stirland really does not need an army of townsfolk turned baby necromancers or neck-romancers ontop of everything else.

Edit: as has been pointed out to me, we are burning the books if we don't take them.

Once more, gyrocopters ferry you and a squad of Hammerers to Stirland, and the populace of Fort Redemption are no less awestruck than that of Wurtbad. Roswita seems less stilted in her greeting to you, which you take as a good sign, and once the onlookers are dismissed and you tell her the reason for your presence it takes more than a moment for her to respond, and the waver in her voice as she speaks the almost-ritual phrases of a grateful Elector Count communicates more than her words do. The idea that maybe she won't die in the coming months is a new one to her, and she might need some time to come to terms with it.
Roswita's going to be one very happy Elector Count when we give our report.

To be honest, I think there's approximately zero chance of us taking any of the options that the QM didn't almost explicitly tell us to take in the update notes. Without having that recommendation, I don't really see the other options having a chance.

TBH I can see Mathilde walking into someone's dread council of darkness and saying something like: "How's it goin', fellow vampires?"
