Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Roswita suffers from an obvious tunnel vision (and from a nasty case of a bad steward advisor).

It looks worse than it is, but basically she created an economic behemoth that she has no control of, and which could prove really problematic in a generation or two.

Anton deserves a happy ending.

In regards for the advisor position, I am kinda liking the no vote. Keeps us flexible and in charge of our own timetable and plans, while available for shenanigans.
Also, the drawback of College's prodding won't happen because we will be doing a lot of research, and sending much of the data gathered to them.

As for the vote:

[X] Stay single. Marry for love.
[X] 'Head Ranger' (Spymaster), Internal Focus
[X] Court Wizard
[X] No role

Say @BoneyM how is our Estate and Steward doing? Since I assumed we checked in on it.

I ask because I am curious about what they've been doing with the Niter profits.

I still find the no advocating genocide against non real races and people rule confusing and silly this is Warhammer some of the bad guys are cartoonishly evil and have no redeeming traits baked into them
I seriously recommend stopping... I have some slight issues with that rule at times but seriously this isn't the place to discuss that.

[X] Marry them...
- [X] Reinhild Gerber
[X] Stay single. Marry for love.

Either of these is reasonable. It's Anton; he's managed spectacular feats of interpersonal diplomacy before. If not, guns are good. As to Mathilde herself, we're on the Silk Road. Any number of interesting characters will stop by. Eventually Boney will throw us a bone and parade a few husbando candidates in front of us. We just need to leave some room in our schedule for socializing (or information gathering, as the case may be) and pop into town every so often, methinks.

[X] 'Head Ranger' (Spymaster), Internal Focus
[X] 'Head Ranger' (Spymaster), External Focus
[X] Court Wizard

As to these, I'm not really interested in people-managing, especially because that's the most likely to end up like an empire quest, and while those are fun, basically every damn Warhammer quest has become that. Let's not for once, shall we? Internal focus allows us to flex the infiltration skills that earned us our fame, external focus means maybe dealing with intrigue among the Border Princes (a more conventional spymastery job), and the Wizard means we'll have Adventures in Poking Things, which is also all to the good.

That's why she limited herself to 20% share and we have 36% one.

She counts on us to save Stirland.
She might be planning on handing each child an equally sized share, such that her most accomplished child (the EIC) survives. If she has five kids then they'd each be getting a four percent share, which is low enough that the competent shareholders can stop them.

Right now I am hoping that even though it looks like court wizard will win we will be able to spare some time to helping set up trade for K8P. We are just at such a huge crossroads that it seems a little silly to not make use of it to build a massive web of informants.

Ah, I was hoping approaching the problem with a detached perspective might help, but alas.
While it is a perfect and flawless plan for Anton to find love, it also requires him to not be married.

There is no need for a backup plan unless he gets a divorce or a death does them part (and that's death parting them permanently, you can't be sure of that in Stirland), both of which this vote assumes won't happen in the foreseeable future.

Well, since the other possible advisors don't seem to particularly focus on the trade avenue, we should have the ability to have some subtle influence on the whole thing. And, given this:
Once you've established yourself, you'll certainly have to consider helping the EIC build a branch in the Karak - the information that you could haul in and send back to the Grey College would be even more valuable than the fortunes to be made.
It's already looking like we are considering it.

Economics scare us, though! All they'll need to do is wave a few ledgers at Mathilde and she'll leap away, hissing like a cat!
Economics used to scare us. Then we got tutored by Wilhelmine. We've "developed an intuitive grasp of business, exchange and logistics." and are a single action away from getting economics skill.

It's exactly because we understand what is happening we are so frightened. It's a suicide in motion, and we are the girl selling the suicidee a pistol.

I don't see why he can't visit these magnificent places. Yeah, he is a noble and that means he has duties. However, it doesn't mean he is forever chained to a desk.

His boyish innocence would probably add greater strength on the awesomeness of the wonderous places Marthilde visited and helped allow others to experience them.
You are missing the point of 'his boyish innocence prevents him from fully appreciating this in the context of Mathilde happily giving up he own innocence and embracing the lifestyle she fell into that calls on her to potentially kill her fellow magister if he pushes the envelope, to accept pre-programmed orders and contingency as the price of doing business, of potentially being obligated to tear down her friend's life work or forward it to those who do so, might have to betray the Dwarfs' confidence in us by explaining their internal issues to the Grey Order'

To try and put a finer point on it because evidently I didn't explain myself well with my previous comment. It's not simply that those places are beautiful, it's that she's content with all the things she has done or might have to do because she firmly believes they serve and protect that beauty and help bring it back into this world. It's about her lifestyle, and that someone as goodnaturedly naive as Anton isn't liable to ever understand her lifestyle. I don't think the thread wants Anton to understand that lifestyle- and that seems to be a fairly big hangup in their potential relationship.

Without in any way asking you to come up with a "second named author College favour chart" @BoneyM , is it fair to think that our Journeymanlings would have gotten a decent chunk of it from having their name listed, too?

At first, we were scared of economics because it was hundreds of numbers we could never understand.

Now, it scares us because we can.

[X] Marry me...
- [X] When I return.

I like Anton so marrying him sounds fun

[X] Steward

I like this idea the best since making trade the hold's economy sounds like a no brainer from what we know. Also it's not like we can't help with the fighting every know and then.

I think we need to go with Stewardship. The major reason is that as we own part of the EIC, if Wilhelmina dies, we need to be in a position to keep the company benefiting the Empire. I suspect that some rotten kids might get slightly murderous, so this might be sooner than we think.

It's been less time for them than it's been for us - it's not quite six months since you hired him, and they're still finishing off the improvements you ordered when you left it in their hands, let alone started any of his own accord.

@BoneyM

I think in the past you gave us some kind of GC to college favour conversion rate am I right in remembering that and if so what was it?

IIRC, the more mundane lessons available in the Grey College were purchasable in favours or gold, but the exact figure escapes me.

You're probably remembering that prior to the College Favor system it was said that classes could be paid for in either gold at 50g-100g per, or at some unspecified College Favor value which hadn't been worked out yet. There is no direct conversion between the two. That said, as far as I know there's also never been a GM ruling that we can't pay for classes in cash so we might well still be able to do that instead of relying purely on the favor economy, and if we can it would be a good idea since we're cash-heavy and favor-light right now.

Mathilde Weber would never dream of abusing her magic to get rich.
Abusing her divine patronage, network of financial friends, advisor position and semi-willing minions on the other hand…

Also [Abelheim] was perfect in every way
His swordsmanship could have been better.

Roswita's position seems to be built upon the assumption that Wilhelmina, Anton and Mathilda are friendly towards her. So long as the EIC remains a pro-Elector Count faction she can take a lot of risks with the economy and rely on the EIC to help her out if things go wrong. Letting her focus on pacifying the undead infested east while her good friends handle the west for her. There is even some justification for it. Wilhelmina was helping the Van Hal family long before she became an Advisor. Mathilde didn't make any fuss when leaving, even handed over the entire info network and Abelheim's things without complaint.
…guessing her new diplomat is about as 'skilled' as her steward. That or she refuses to believe that such fine and loyal servants of the Empire would hold a grudge.

Oh yes. As Journeyman contributors they have the equivalent of another -1 or so because it's assumed the Magister did the heavy lifting but those are still some impressive reports to have their names on.
