I thought selling the things meant we wouldn't get credit so nice surprise to be a contributor.
i don't remember but did we sell this thing in one piece and not battle field salvage wreck ?

cause having a fully working machine may mean more to the final conclusion then a pile of machinery

"The masks are a field of study that were almost written off, until it was observed that there have been no sightings of Clan Pestilens or their many thralls in recent years, and they may have been driven off or even entirely exterminated during the recent civil war. That means that instead of a thousand ever-changing strains of disease, we need only concern ourselves with the strictly chemical avenues that Clan Skryre favours for their globadier payloads. While several of the components are made of entirely unknown materials that we haven't been able to replicate, the basic mechanism seems to consist of no more than forcing air through layers of finely-ground charcoal. We've built a variety of prototypes based on this design, but actually testing how effective they may be will have to wait until our next series of skirmishes in the War Below.
@Boney could we purchase one of these prototype masks and if so would it be a COLLEGE purchase for college favor or a PURCHASE for gold?

The sword," it's explained to you as you go round the other, less fruitful studies, "ended up shattering during experimentation, but we were able to harvest vast amounts of data from it before then. There were patterns in the shapes formed that were suggestive of an underlying order that resonates very interesting with some other lines of study into elemental theory, and though the trajectory of these studies are very long indeed, their eventual importance might outweigh everything else we have achieved here
What on earth is going on here, I wonder?

Nooooooo....

We should have been the border princess!!

But now Gretel went and did it, with the colaboration of Barak Varr and all.

She has always been best of all our duckings, and the fact that if we tried to be a border princess now we would have her and Barak Varr as rivals kills the dream.
We also would start out with the full backing of k8p and at least one bookseller clan in Barak varr. While also having pretty unconditional support of stirland and a trading company.
We probably would do pretty well...

"The brass orb, which we've found mention of in the Skaven writings under the imaginative name of 'Brass Orb', is basically a Pit of Shades except, uh, worse in every conceivable way. It cracks open a rift all the way to the Aethyr which sucks in everything and everyone in the vicinity, which is only most of the time clogged with viscera and debris before anything nasty can make its way through from the other side. The intended use is as something like a grenade, except the activation sequence makes its weight and inertia impossible to predict from moment to moment, so half the time it ends up overshooting or undershooting the mark. There was some discussion of using it to get rid of some things we really don't want to remain in reality any more, but most of them would be even worse in the hands of some of the denizens of the other side, so in the end we just had the navy drop it on an rocky outcrop off Norsca and blew it up with a barrel of gunpowder. Just seemed like it would be tempting fate to do anything else with it.
All things considered "Throw it into the sea somewhere you don't like very much and then blow it up," seems like a thoroughly sensible response to the Brass Orb.

In other news....

Now that we're building out tributaries, and working our way towards middle-grade waystones, I wonder if we're closing in on the time to bring in the Ambers. Just because of the update where Max went through all the libraries.
The Ambers... well, you know what they're like. The fellow I talked to said they know where most of them are in the Empire if you need to know, but that you probably didn't."
"We're putting up new ones, and we're reaching the point where it would help to know where the waystones aren't."

Felt like the Sofia interaction went about as well as it could have, at least Pan seems relatively hopeful in a decent outcome for her as well.

Overall I feel pretty happy about the Gold's work, also nice to see Mathilde hustling business even there haha.

Well, there's still Swamp Town, that's like Border Princess squared!

Princes' equivalent

I googled this and got no result. Is it the right word?

Hah, this sounds like tech-priest speak.

but you'd learned all you needed to of her at that very first glance,
I as always don't often comment here, more content to lurk given how active this thread is at times, cause I simply can't keep up. But I can't help but be proud of how far Mathilda has come given at a glance she can now see through the motives of a young wizard at presumably said glance. And continually I can't wait to see where we go next with her as we advance the Empires interests and her allies against the forces of darkness!

Truly this is one of my favorite Warhammer Fantasy quests on this site!

Let's grab Extensive Bretonnian books on Verena. It's less than half our income, helps diplomacy with Verena, it's got bibliothecography stuff in it, and we're pretty unlikely to get them from the University of Nuln.

Well, the Sophia interaction went about as well as one could reasonably hope. And while I wasn't the biggest fan of Gretel before—I didn't dislike her or anything, I just found the other Ducklings more interesting—I have to admit that her collecting a bunch of titles like she's Mathilde is great. I wonder if Gretel has/had an In Awe of Mathilde-esque trait too.

Gretel was really fun. I wish we could've hung out with her more to make friends with her, and I hope we'll get to hang out with her more from now on.

Also my god does Mathilde find her attractive. She's hitting all her buttons.

Interesting update. Quite a bit of advancements they got from Skaven loot.

Aethyric Vitae can be spent instead of favour at an exchange rate of 3 favour per gallon; for Rune-related purchases, this will also guarantee the cooperation of Runelords who may otherwise be disinterested.

By the way, has Mathilde heard of examples of Runelords actually putting Vitae to use in their campaigns?

You know, I forgot that Gretel would be the one person Mathilde could gripe with about the lack of We-silk. That just made the Gretel bit all the better. Looks like all she needs is an heir to finally establish a proper dynasty. Our little ducklings have all grown up and establishing themselves.
