Skipping 60 pages to express relief and joy over Gretel having a decent lead. It's not insurmountable and it's possible next time I check she's overtaken, but I'll take small victories for the moment. I certainly don't want another Julia situation where Gretel is removed from social options because we didn't pursue her social.

I don't think the idea of stabbing people the Nuln Verenans don't like has been given enough credence. Mathilde has the seed, she can survive it.

So I know the idea of creating magical copies of Mathilde for infinite AP has been shot down for being "absurd" and "impossible to write" and other such trivialities, but can we perhaps create a copy of Mathilde to help with the silk business? Not to actually do much of anything, just a simple illusion of Mathilde that will follow Francesco around and stare. Menacingly.

So are we going to steal all of his clothes to enchant them with illusions to do this, or should we bind an apparition for this? The handmaiden or shadowy illusion one should both work :p

These are what I really want to look at on-screen.

I don't think that was ever a danger. There's significantly more support for Gretel than there ever was for Julia, as far as I remember. Boney reads the thread, and I think Julia got removed because there just wasn't interest in her, so there was no point in keeping her in. And it's not like there was a groundswell of people deeply regreting losing out on her. The most was sort of vague regret more about the loss of a possibility in general, and not really much to do with Julia as a person specifically.

If someone we stabbed can still get up, we have not stabbed them enough. And you can't fix relatioshps with a shoddy work. Bah!

That said, shouldn't Rune of T posing disable the seed?

We don't have to stab ourselves with Branulhune.

As you said, it would go rather badly.

(Disclaimer that I'm not advocating for Mathilde stabbing herself for this or any other reason)

I can't really emphasise enough what a bad idea it would be to try and double down on being in the bad books of a major and well-respected Goddess.

Being in the bad books of a cult does not equate to being in the bad books of a goddess. And being in the bad book of a part of the cult, even an influential part, is not the same as being in the bad books of the whole cult, not even the Empire part of the cult.

That said, I do advocate for diplomacy, no sense making problems where one can be avoided. However, if friction is inevitable due toa overwhelming pride or incompatible ideas, we are not without tools of our own. There are options that would allow us to antagonize that part of the cult while not antagonizing the entire cult, too.

So, overall, I think our strategy should be: diagnose the exact point of friction, try to smooth feathers if possible, and if that fails, sabotage them in a way that would not cause Verenans in general to close ranks.

Mathilde has a much healthier attitude towards self harm than freddie over in drunken dynasty.
How is stabbing herself even a topic of discussion?

Mathilde would shoot herself. That's the tried and proven approach.
... well, aside from that one time. The point still stands!

I bring good news! After a short ten months after it was announced, Forest of Wait Forest of Late Forest of Delay Forest of the Friends we Made Along the Way Forest of Hate was finally released today! It's an adventure that takes place in the Laurelorn, pits you against a Nurglish cult of racist antivaxxers, and introduces a disease that, with improper treatment, can infect you with prejudice, and it's especially potent against dwarves.

And I have to say, I am very disappointed in Boney.

He can clearly anticipate what Cubicle 7 is going to write years in the future, seeing as he introduced windherding long before Winds of Magic did, and yet he refuses to produce accurate divinations in regards to the Laurelorn. The details Forest of Hate provides on the Laurelorn differ quite a bit from what Boney's given in Divided Loyalties updates. If he keeps disrespecting his loyal fans with these wilfully inaccurate prognostications, it won't be long before everyone stops reading Divided Loyalties.

Be better, Boney.

Oh huh, the current high priest of the Nuln Verenans is actually kinda cool.
Tome of Salvation, page 76
High Priestess Marieka Van der Perssen
Marieka van der Perssen is high priestess of the Grand Temple at Nuln, and one of the most powerful and influential members of the cult. Marieka has been high priestess of the temple for nearly ten years, during which time she has helped forge greater ties between the temple and Countess Emmanuelle, to whom she acted as a tutor in the countess's youth. This friendship has allowed the high priestess to court rather more controversy than might be tolerated elsewhere, such as exhibiting the cult's collection of allegedly heretical books.

Marieka is also a professor of philosophy at the University of Nuln, and is one of the few female members of the faculty there. She possesses a fearsome intellect, and is an expert orator. When not teaching or conducting her religious duties, she can be found debating science and philosophy on the steps of the temple with whoever dares match wits with her.

Despite Marieka's friendship with the Countess, she has many enemies within the city, both from amongst Nuln's criminal fraternity, many of whom have been on the receiving end of Verenan justice, and from the city's more conservative elements, especially amongst the Cult of Sigmar, who fear and despise her dangerous and immoral stance with regard to heresy.
She was around during Emmanuelle's time, who was Karl-Franz's childhood friend, which means she should be around in Mathilde's time right now. She thumbs her nose at conservatives and Sigmarites, works in the GUN despite the sexism she'll encounter, and brags about her collection of books the Sigmarites don't like. She's also noted as being one of the top names in the Cult of Verena. I'm kinda disappointed we upset her. We could've been good friends complaining to each other about the many failings of Sigmar's priests.

Next book is Deft Steps, Light Fingers, which is about crime, rangers, travel, Ranaldans, and Taalites. Sadly, while it'll have rules on making gangs and performing forgeries and cons, the description doesn't mention heists, which is a crying shame.

Is she still actually doing that, though? Like, just showing up sometimes without proposing solutions, asking how her bedsheets are coming along?

If an answer of 'yes' would prompt fretful follow-up questions, then no.

@Boney

Is everything that happens offscreen in this quest decided by backround rolls? Or is some of it narratively decided?

Some is dicerolls, some is narrative, some is both.
