Prosthetics are artifical body parts, often used to replace existing ones to aid those who lack them or can't use them. It is an exoskeleton but I don't hesitate to call it a prosthesis either.
Oh it's definitely there to help him, i just think it's probably closer to a wheelchair then a full prosthetic. He hasn't replaced any body parts, just put their function into a mechanical device.
 
There are serval types of body changes and modifications that Mathilde knows about. There is the Dwarf becoming Stone from using magic, magical and or technically prosthetics, divine enhancements like Grail Knights and the becoming more attuned to a Wind and eventually Ascension.

Mathilde could study Dwarves becoming stone from magic use, but the only way she'd really feel comfortable going all in would be to study Chaos Dwarves and the stone process.

The magical prosthetic project is something I think should be looked into and researched more. It's really cool and could have a lot of benefits both for the people who get them and Mathilde for creating them. Maybe Mathilde can learn more on a Nehekhara trip.

Divine enhancements is probably the thing that would need Theurgy to pull off.

Ascension is something that can be worked on both in the short term and the long term. Short term mastering the current Arcane Marks and picking up more isn't too hard. Then there is further researching the soul and how Dragons do what they do.
 
I'm not sure Empire, or Karaz Ankor, has the infra structure (mages/runesmiths) to support magical prosthetics for anyone but the richest parts of society.
Not opposed to the idea, magicpunk prosthetics are rad, just would not expect much from it.

Iirc the empire can do basic, mundane prosthetics itself. If someone needs an arm or leg that's possible, just not the fully self moving types.
 
Some genius engineer might be able to make a one off masterwork hand with full articulation.
Can't be harder than clockwork horses.
But, too expensive for wide adoption, to difficult to make except in extremely small numbers.

Oh yeah, i was mostly talking about the basic ones that existed irl. You can have a claw or a leg. The actually fully working ones are magic or steampunk.

If we're on the subject, the leader of the Karaz-a-Karak Engineer's Guild, Burlock Damminson, has a mechanical prosthetic replacing the arm he lost when a pressure vessel he was working on exploded.
 
Cool, looks like dwarves can in fact do mass production. Now all we need to do is convince the Karak Ankor dwarves to abandon their culture-wide traditions, sacrifice the quality of their work, and emulate the Dawi-Zharr.

I mean, that's what Boney's been saying this whole time.

If you want Dwarfen mass-production, they're right there. I'm sure the Dawi-Zharr will be interested in doing business.

We did have the option to do a much deeper dive into a magical prosthetic, except the thread chose not to. Or, rather, instead of disassembling it, we chose to give the thing to Johann for his own use.

And then when Mathilde and the others tried to write a research paper on what they learned, I think the rolls went way against them... :V

4e has steamwork prosthetics that function mostly as normal limbs, but they wouldn't exist in DL.
 
There's quite a lot of stuff for prosthetic use it seems. Like, yeah the most advanced stuff is pretty expensive, but it seems like there is a wide variety of prosthesis and it's available to quite a few people. I suppose in a world where survival is paramount and danger is constant, losing limbs and finding replacements becomes quite important.
 
Hey, @Boney either someone at Cubicle reads your quest, or you made a really good guess because the Lustria 4e book mentions that the Fimir worshipped Chaos before the Old Ones arrived.

Because I don't think was canon before.
 
Wasn't it Torroar who posited that in Alcohol Dynasty? I distinctly remember Torroar making extensive worldbuilding on the Fimir and doing a lot of research and making a whole arc centered around them.
 
No, I mean, where in Deathfang's story did it say the Fimir worshipped the Chaos Gods pre-Old Ones?
Iirc Deathfang said the dragons came before the Old Ones, drove the Dragon Ogres (shartak) off the mountain peaks and into conflict with the Fimir, and the Fimir and Shartak both became chaos worshipers then? Or something like that.
