Is there a particular reason that another Wind can't be the one fountaining out instead of Ghyran? Why not Ulgu or Ghur or Hysh or some other Wind? Is it because Dreaming Woods are created just from Ghyran, I would think forest liminal realms would be created from all Winds.

A Dreaming Wood is the collective soul of a forest. What an average forest mostly has in its soul is Ghyran. If it develops in a particularly shadowed or savage or... inspired? way it might change so that another Wind has primacy within it, but the Reikwald has a shunt that stunts its development as 'just' a forest, instead of being able to grow into a spooky forest or a murderbeast forest or whatnot.

For the Scribe choice, I think Clio is the way to go.

Ready to start right away; religious obligations to history-keeping squares well with Dwarves; loyal to their own Cult, but having contacts in Verena is a plus, not a minus, as long as they can't sabotage us; which they couldn't, even if they wanted to despite their religion for some reason, because they're being watched by hundreds of giant spiders.

Wow, Paranoth really has no chill.
Apparently their "rivalry" was a bit more than that, in that they attacked each other's reputation and eventually began resorting to violence. Feels a bit more ferocious than a simple rivalry.

It's important to remember the downsides of Scriptisi or Clio, and that they have serious incentive to shut down any attempts at the printing press being used. Right now it doesn't matter too much because we don't have movable types, and metagaming around it doesn't appeal to me, but it should be noted that they have incentives to dislike such things.

Technically almost any group would dislike it, but if we were to hire gig workers at least they're not full time employees who would be displaced. They can always get work elsewhere. They also don't have religous obligation to write things down making them hate printing machines.

Ok so this is just me trying to keep track of goals for Mathilde that I've noticed. Please feel free to criticize and add in, I'd love to learn more. Inspired by @Abhorsen Player-Created Multi-Action Plans.

Short Term:
Obvious Stuff: Waystone Project, Kron-Azril-Ungol, Writing Papers, Eike,

Studying the Soul and Liminal: Something thread has expressed immediate interest in but will probably take a while. We've also been seeing a lot of example of Liminal stuff so that's probably a higher priority.

Windherding: We didn't learn much from the last time but still a cool thing to try and advance.

Mid Term:
Languages and Cultures: Mathilde has a knack for both languages and other cultures both narratively and mechanically, advancing understanding of both will allow for both stat boosts for Diplomacy and access to information in other languages. Is also very fitting given that Mathilde is involved in a lot of multinational projects such as the Waystone Project and the Library. Lets us translate our books, learning magical languages is cool.

Mathilde the Warrior: Mostly finally finishing Mastery of Great-sword and the Vanishing style, advancing tactics and strategy as well to increase Martial and make Mathilde a better leader. Picking up some more Battle Magic as well because Battle Magic is a good pocket nuke.

Nagarythe: We can go on a little trip to fight the good fight, make some friends, and train. I get the feeling we aren't going to get them in on the Waystone project given we have a Dark Elf helping out. Also need to finish the basics of some of the stuff they would help train like scouting. They are have great synergy with Mathilde's skills and magic but have Elf lifespans to practice it.

Aethyric Vitae: Might want to wait a bit because it literally blew up in our faces. Also will take a year because it blew up in Mathilde's face.

Chaos Countermeasures: Gaining further skill in defending against Chaos will be important given Mathilde's run in with it and EverChosen candidacy.

Long Term:
Theurgy: Need access to other divine artifacts, people, energy and stuff. Learning more about Souls and Divinity will be very helpful as well. Should also be a lot stronger before we try and pull any Prometheus stunts or using it as a power.

Ascension Project: Further Study of Aethric Vitae, Study of the Soul and gaining control of Arcane Marks are all likely helpful towards building towards such a thing. Researching Dragons such as Cython since he's a prime example of it, also Melkoth is a likely human example of such a thing given that he no sells time by lying to it.

I'd shuffle some of these around, myself. Short term should absolutely include both AV and swording, languages is an ongoing thing we should be building up on the side, soul examinations can get kicked down to the bottom of the list, and Theurgy and Ascension are "magical dreamland" projects and we shouldn't really be aiming for them. Also Melkoth isn't an "ascended", he's just a very powerful battlewizard with some strange arcane marks. Give it another 30 years or so and Mathilde will naturally be on his level. You've also missed off all the necromancy stuff we picked up recently, that's a solid mid-term project that requires a few training actions to build up to.

I'm in favor of the cult of Clio over Scripsisti, simply because the latter are said by the wiki to be rabble rousing against the printing press. Obviously, that can't be allowed lol.

I get where you are coming from, but the advantage of the printing press is cheaper books and we are being bankrolled by dwarf gold. I'd say it matters less to us than most.

Ok will do for the AV, swording, and Soul examinations. I know Melkoth isn't ascended I meant to use him as an example, like Mathilde could try and intentionally get develop the no selling of time in a way similar to Melkoth's weirdness. I tried to imply that the Necromancy books was meant to be implied in the languages and culture since we need to learn those languages but looking back it was extremely unclear. Thanks for the advice.

with Egrimm having accumulated more and more reasons to be elsewhere as the stretch of unremarkable villages grew longer and longer.
Egrimm seems to disappear halfway through the Nexus investigation—is there a reason for that, or did he just slip through the cracks?
Erm, yes, he slipped. I remembered there were three people brought along to this and then thought Mathilde plus Max plus Johann is three, we're good to go. Maybe he begged off after the first two weeks of sampling the culture of Abgelegenesdorf.
It didn't feel strange, I interpreted it as Egrimm being way too bored by the task and just leaving to do more interesting things.

[ ] Panoramia
In the wake of an apparently quite controversial paper, Panoramia is finally taking her Magisterial exams. Be there to observe the fallout and offer moral support.
I think that's a must. She's our gf, we should be there for her in difficult times.

[ ] Sylvania
Meet this would-be Markgraf Nyklaus for yourself.
Not a must for, but when a Nyklaus wish to rule in Sylvania I'm worried… I think Boney said that Noctilus wasn't a thing yet, but he said nothing about Nyklaus.

[ ] Wissenland
Rumours of some sort of earthquake having struck Nuln are circulating.
[ ] Middenland
See how the Ulricans are going with their new Eonir coreligionists.
Both sound interesting tbh, especially the Eonir.

[ ] Druchii Diplomats
Check in on these unexpected visitors to Tor Lithanel.
Let's see how our favorite monsters are doing.

[ ] Brief the Emperor
Though the Waystone Project is in early days, you've had a few early wins and have uncovered some important information about the Waystone Network as it relates to the Empire's security.
Given what we just found about the Reikland Nexus, he would appreciate to be warned. It's also necessary to secure it asap, Mathilde thought that it wouldn't stay hidden long.

There are a ton of references and mentions of certain canonical aspects of Reikland and lots of geographical tidbits that I'd be interested in diving into, but today is my sibling Raven's birthday. I'm gonna be spending most of it with them. If any of you feel so inclined I'd be happy to show them your birthday wishes.

I've got the perfect out.
until you find yourself somewhere north of a nowhere town allegedly famous for its red cheeses however which actually hospitalised Egrimm

Maybe it's because it's late and I'm tired but I find this kind of awful. Like, they basically just lobotmised a magical ecosystem. It probably wouldn't have been friendly if allowed to mature but it still rubs me the wrong way that they chose to stunt it's growth like that.

Emperor, Thorek and Panoramia are a must to me (now that I think about it, is Panoramia's name based on Panoramix, the druid from Asterix in the french version?), I don't mind too much about other options, they all seem nice.

The entire time you've known Maximilian, he has been pursuing his own goal of true transmutation via magically-enhanced blacksmithing. Check in to see how he's going with that.
[ ] Thorek
See what inroads Thorek has made with the Major Houses of Tor Lithanel.

She's apparently getting involved in the Karaz Ankor's ambitions in the Border Princes.

[ ] Amber College
Check in on the salamanders.
[ ] Gold College
See what's become of their research into Skaven technology.

I think these are the ones I want to see the most. Top five is probably Emperor, Sylvania, Panoramia, Gretel, and the Druchii. I know a lot of people wanted to see the salamanders and the skaven tech this turn, however, which means we're probably not going to visit Gretel again, and that makes me sad. All I want is to find out if our favourite street rat-turned-death wizard has become a princess or not.

Its better then having to constantly battle with a wild forest or having to make the choice of clear cutting it. Because those are the choices. The forest of shadows is an example of a forest who got left alone and it's a problem.

They could do what they did, or do nothing and risk losing thousands of lives by constantly fighting against evil monsters. In Warhammer, forests are dangerous. Look at Athel Loren and the Forest of Shadows, I can understand the Asurs not wanting to have those kind of neighbours.

Hey, some people just aren't used to Abgelegenesdorfians 'work hard, play harder' lifestyle and need to retreat to slower locales like Altdorf. And that's ok.
Ah time to test if Mathildes impact upon children is a two off or a statistically significant phenomena.
If Boney's beautifully hubristic gamble had paid off, Orphans would have been a shoe-in.

I know this is very off topic, but I'm relatively new to Warhammer Fantasy - is it an unpopular opinion to dislike the whole End Times thing and that the world is doomed to fall regardless of what anyone does?

Ah... no, that is very much popular. Significant portions of the community hate it with the fiery passion of a thousand suns for being rushed and silly in many places even while there might be some interesting stuff in there.

You know what? I'm gonna vote for
[ ] [SCRIBE] Universities
Take students from the universities of the Empire who are looking for work to fund either their education or their drinking habits. Wide range of languages, but can tend to be a bit unruly. Reikspiel, Tilean, Estalian, Kislevarin, Old Reikspiel, Classical.

This option is actually great. It gives our Library a diverse, learning inclined staff. They are not going to spend their lives here, probably work for us for few years, and then get back to their universities to further their career or go work for some random noble here and there. But that's a good thing. They will spread the word of our wondrous Library, of our budding Branch Collage and provide contacts everywhere around the Old World.

Well, the good news is due to Games Workshop's canonicity policy Storm Of Chaos was never actually decanonized so it's technically not doomed to fall! Instead that's just one of two simultaneously completely canon future paths to the world.

It also puts random people looking for beer money next to our collection of rare and dangerous magical books. I don't know if I want to give Hans the Aldorf University screw up who took the gig to get away from the fallout of a mass brawl access to our books on the Old Ones.

Personally I just find it a big shame to destroy such an interesting world in the first place. I hear Age of Sigmar also isn't very good lore-wise, either.

What's the other path?
