God, I love how Mathilde and her cohorts are so capable of just casually finding and rolling over issues like this. Granted, it's something basically anybody in the colleges would want done if they knew about it, but I doubt anybody would actually notice until problems had been made in most cases.

Hmm. You know, aside from the question of fixing it or not, being able to shunt massive amounts of magic like that annd drain Liminal Realms actually sounds really useful.

I mean if you could drain the Forest of Shadows... nah it would probably murder you. :V

I'm curious why Mathilde managed to find the site with relatively little hassle, but several thousand years of constant beastman menace in the area did not. It's not like they don't have strong and magically sensitive shamans.

It's likely that the place was sealed with some sort of ward that makes it hard for anyone non-human to find it, I guess?

It's tucked up against the mountain with only a single accessible path that was clogged with vegetation. If Mathilde didn't have a map from Tor Lithanel pointing the way she wouldn't have found it.

All Mandred needs to do is make friends.
Speaking terms is not the same level of influence you get from being a fellow mage of the college, especially since the Jades are on the clannish side. Not to say that he has to go Jade to get any use out of the place, but it would be good synergy IMO
I mean uh, Mandred's dad is very much the final authority on what's getting done with this place twice over. If he wants to set things up so his wizard son can take advantage of the place it is entirely within his wheelhouse to do so, and then it's if the jades want to get use out of the place they need to make friends with HIM.

... If Heidi's clued him in on that yet, I suppose.

I'm not saying we should do anything about it, just tell him about the place and maybe that is another reason to choose Jade. It was an idle comment on what College he might end up in and the use he might get out of it.

"I know you said west of the Nuln-Altdorf line, but there's a rather strange clock tower in Kemperbad that drove mad the one who made it. A Magicker experimenting on a Waystone, perhaps?"
"Apparently there's a Waystone in Grünburg that a local noble wants to turn into a statue of himself? Probably not what we're looking for, but I'll make sure someone has a stern word with him."
"Paranoth apparently has a tower near Eilhart? I don't think that would be it, but I'll ask the Jades to be sure."
These three come from WFRP 4e: Monuments of the Reikland. Von Plotzkanal's Horological Tower drove its creator mad because its design was whispered into his dreams by a Lord of Change. The Paranoth Column was the tower of a celestial wizard who was a rival of Paranoth's before Paranoth murdered him and his apprentice with a spell that shot the tower through with a large amount of vegetation. As for Burgomeister Holger Rauck of Grünburg, there's no secret there, he really was just a massive cunt.

Just a reminder that metagaming is unfruitful. What's canon in Warhammer isn't necessarily going to be canon in DL or, in some cases, even likely, as in the case of Egrimm.

"It's a ruin nowadays, but Taal's Horn Keep near Helmgart supposedly had a Waystone inside it."
This is the HQ of the Ubersreik Five in Vermintide 2.

For the social actions, I'd like to drop by on Sylvania's new master myself. OOC knowledge aside, Mathilde has invested a lot in ensuring the end of vampire rule there, so it would be a good idea to see how the new person in charge plans to keep things that way. Also, how they might, or might not, be getting along with Kasmir and his swamp gods project.

I'm thinking that the best option for scribes is either the Cult of Scripsisti or hiring Orphans. I like the idea of training up Orphans from scratch who would be loyal to us, but I'm not sure if we have the time to train them up from scratch.

As for socials, definitely want to check in on Panoramia. I do also want to see Thorek; it feels like he's been sort of absent from the Waystone Project and so haven't seen him as much. I also agree with the idea that we should brief the Emperor on the Nexus, considering how important it is to Reikland and the Empire as a whole.

@Boney thank you for the wonderful update. Lots of little character tidbits that I find honestly charming. We don't get to see Mathilde and the boys bantering that often, but I appreciate getting a look at the character interactions between them.

There are a ton of references and mentions of certain canonical aspects of Reikland and lots of geographical tidbits that I'd be interested in diving into, but today is my sibling Raven's birthday. I'm gonna be spending most of it with them. If any of you feel so inclined I'd be happy to show them your birthday wishes.

That sounds like a good idea. Wouldn't want all the progress we've made in Sylvania to disappear. Also makes sense why Mathilde would drop by, as like you've said she's invested a lot into making sure Sylvania is clean.

Happy birthday to Raven, and many happy returns.

Ok so this is just me trying to keep track of goals for Mathilde that I've noticed. Please feel free to criticize and add in, I'd love to learn more. Inspired by @Abhorsen Player-Created Multi-Action Plans.

Short Term:
Obvious Stuff: Waystone Project, Kron-Azril-Ungol, Writing Papers, Eike,

Studying the Liminal: Something thread has expressed immediate interest in but will probably take a while. We've also been seeing a lot of example of Liminal stuff from various places so it makes sense to learn more about it.

Windherding: We didn't learn much from the last time but still a cool thing to try and advance.

Short Continuing to Mid Term:
Languages and Cultures: Mathilde has a knack for both languages and other cultures both narratively and mechanically, advancing understanding of both will allow for both stat boosts for Diplomacy and access to information in other languages. Is also very fitting given that Mathilde is involved in a lot of multinational projects such as the Waystone Project and the Library.
Extension: Learning magical languages is cool, will likely be useful for Rituals and other magics, also need to learn other languages to translate Necromancy Books.

Aethyric Vitae: Will still research but might want to wait a bit for some aspects of it because experimentation literally blew up in Mathilde's face and it'll take a bit for the lab to be safe.

Mid Term:
Mathilde the Warrior: Mostly finally finishing Mastery of Great-sword and the Vanishing style, advancing tactics and strategy as well to increase Martial and make Mathilde a better leader. Picking up some more Battle Magic as well because Battle Magic is a good pocket nuke.

Nagarythe: We can go on a little trip to fight the good fight, make some friends, and train. I get the feeling we aren't going to get them in on the Waystone project given we have a Dark Elf helping out. Also need to finish the basics of some of the stuff they would help train like scouting. They are have great synergy with Mathilde's skills and magic but have Elf lifespans to practice it.

Chaos Countermeasures: Gaining further skill in defending against Chaos will be important given Mathilde's run in with it and EverChosen candidacy.

Long Term:
Soul Stuff: Learn how the Soul works, how it interacts with Magic and Divinity.

Theurgy: Need access to other divine artifacts, people, energy and stuff. Learning more about Souls and Divinity will be very helpful as well. Should also be a lot stronger before we try and pull any Prometheus stunts or using it as a power.

Ascension Project: Further Study of Aethric Vitae, Study of the Soul and gaining control of Arcane Marks are all likely helpful towards building towards such a thing. Researching Dragons such as Cython since he's a prime example of it, also Melkoth is a likely human example of such a thing given that he no sells time by lying to it.

Is there a particular reason that another Wind can't be the one fountaining out instead of Ghyran? Why not Ulgu or Ghur or Hysh or some other Wind? Is it because Dreaming Woods are created just from Ghyran, I would think forest liminal realms would be created from all Winds.

While I'm not a proponent of completely disregarding every single thing the Greater Daemon said, I do think it's important to consider that he was throwing everything and the kitchen sink to see what sticks. I wouldn't place too much faith in the claim that Mathilde is a candidate. It's definitely something he wants us to think about.

As far as Chaos protection goes, there really isn't much we can do to protect ourselves further aside from being constantly paranoid, so I can't see anything aside from maybe gaining better control over our soul.

It's because the Belthani or the elves wanted to make the land fertile not filled with dangerous beasts, deceptive mists, burning light, just plain on fire etc... Ghyan is t he most useful to spit out

Edit: apparently now, that's just what's in there.
