The way I read this is that we will have a chance to tell some people what really happened. So we can tell Algard, Heidi, and Mira what really happened if we want. @Boney am I roughly accurate here?

You're choosing what the official version of what happened will be, that anyone of importance can find out if they ask about it. The general public won't know, because the official story will be kept as simple as possible: Cultist dead, Taal good. You can tell highly-ranked individuals the truth even if it's not the official version you go with.

Speaking of papers, I've got a strongly held opinion:

I'd want to write the book on the 'shrooms, as is - accepting that we don't have metal or death, and just send samples to the colleges so that the experts in those winds can try their hands at it. (And with all the various prep methods Elder Hluodwica* has come up with so a bunch on wizards won't have to reinvent the pie, so to speak)

More importantly, I want to do the book as a joint piece with Pan, and also have it be after she attains Magister, so there won't be any chance of it being seen as a LM trying to boost her partner's attempt to reach Magister - not that Pan has not done a masterpiece or two with the spore clearing and soil restoration, but anyone trying to attack her mother would be incentivised to at lest consider casting shade on Pan's worthiness.

*Cheers for the character codex, Codex! ;)

You know, in all these discussions about Alric the best ones have him retire or monster hunt. I wonder what we have to roll or how much Ranald should favor us for him to retire to Tor Lithaneal and join us in the waystone project.

I'd rather not get into that mess, because, well, if the project yields a lot of positive results, I'd rather Mathilde not have to play a bunch of internal politics to keep him from wresting the role of project lead away from her. After all, something this big would be enough for him to become Magister Patriarch of the Light Order again, wouldn't it?

Very lengthy profile now, but I did it:
Alberich Haupt-Anderssen: The last of the Haupt-Anderssens, the Elector Count before Abelhelm. He got so desperate that he performed some sort of ritual involving summoning daemons that did not go so well for him, but resulted in the East Wing of Eagle Castle being closed off so the energies would settle down over the years. It turns out that the ritual was not to summon Daemons, but to teleport himself into the Aethyr and dedicate himself to the Chaos Gods, and he succeeded. Thanks to the testimonial of an accomplice with Magesight who witnessed the ritual, his right arm was mutated to become oversized, one of his eyes became pure white and he developed the Slaaneshi Gift of Musk giving him an alluring scent, indicating that Alberich dedicated himself to Slaanesh.

Even back during his reign before he became a Magus he was self obsessed, proud and with a short temper and an utter hatred of being disregarded, allowing him to easily slot into the Vainglory aspect of Slaanesh's Six Deadly Seductions. He cared less for his family and more about himself, and after teleporting into the Aethyr, he returned 18 years later to take "revenge" on the Unfahigers who he might have believed were involved in his family's murders, but in actuality he was performing a twisted Ritual of Dedication to cut his ties to the mortal realm and dedicate himself to the Chaos Gods. The ritual involved performing over the top recreations of his family's deaths on eight members of the Unfahigers, now the Krieglitz, following a pattern that followed the time between each of his family members' deaths, except in months instead of years. Doing so would have empowered him greatly. Mathilde discovered his attempt, tracked him down and killed him to prevent the Empress, a supposed Haupt-Anderssen, from being brought under scrutiny and to steal credit away from Alric, who is attempting to regain his position as Supreme Patriarch of the Light Order. Meta Spoilers: Boney heavily implied that he was one of the Everchosen candidates, and the level of support from his patron clearly indicates this
Just checking, was it Ritual of Dedication or Empowerment he was attempting?

From the story post:
This is a Ritual that mirrors the fates of the Haupt-Anderssens, and thus by your earlier research you can say with near certainty that this is a Ritual of Dedication, crafted as a piece of terrible art to be gifted to Alberich's new master or masters as a symbol of his devotion to them.

[X] The Longshanks

Feels like a good way to get an in for the Waystone project. Out of all the cults, Taal and Rhya's is definitely one with info

You're already running as the much poorer attempt at a howl rises above the noise of the crowd, thankful that Talabheim architecture favours terraces over the smooth and often loose tiles of Altdorf rooftops. Where Sigmarite Templars would be a din of metal on metal and demands to bow down to their patron, the only sound of the Longshanks pack as they close on Alberich is the faint whistle of their arrows splitting the air and the soft, wet thunk as one finds purchase in him.
This section somewhat reminded me of this:

"2057 IC: Fritz and Pieter von Carstein, two of Vlad's get, besiege Middenheim and Nuln, respectively, in attempts to prove themselves. A silver-tipped arrow ends Fritz before he can cause much harm to the City of the Wolf. Pieter is more successful, butchering many before he is slain by a descendant of Vanhel the Necromancer, Helmut van Hel, who seeks to redress his forefather's sins." Night's Dark Masters 2E Page 33

Sometimes, it's the mundane people who get it done. It was also Witch Hunter Gunthar van Hal who led a three year siege at the head of an army against the corrupted Ordo Draconis (former Sigmarite Order, now the first Blood Dragons) of Blood Keep in the 1940s under Walach Harkon and successfully kicked him and his order out of the Empire.

@Boney
I'm not going to do it here, I'd rather do it later on our own time, but what are Mat's feelings on the possibility of thanking Ulric for it?
Make it a "A visiting hunter with a good nose for trouble who was blessed by Ulric in the moment?"

It would fit the howls and Ulric did participate.

[X] The Longshanks

They are the ones who have hunted and faced the magnus. They should get credit for it. That they got a tip is not important. Not at all and please do not ask who tipped them.
