[ ] Approach the hunting lodge Unfahigers
[ ] Research: Underworld Turbulence
[ ] Investigate Krieglitz Manor

I'm thinking these three? Do some basic groundwork and see if the Unfahigers know something more than what we have.

Seeing just how heavily Regimand uses cloak activity makes me want to finish learning that spell. If only there was some other objective we could accomplish well doing that.

Regimand isn't neglected. He's a busy and successful man and he's proud as punch that his former Apprentice is even more busy and even more successful, and if he died with things left there he wouldn't regret a thing. But given an opportunity to spend time with Mathilde without sacrificing the good of the Empire, he's taken it.
This feels like being punched. With warm fuzzies.

It's very unusual and I am unsure how to handle it.

Edit: oh hey. Page 11011. :)

Heidi isn't worth it anymore I don't think. I did before, but I don't think it's unlikely we'll solve this without her.

Can we at least message Heidi to get Ranald's attention for his help early? I'm guessing she has more clout with him. This situation is pretty divine too so he should be able to help down the line. Even convenient coincidences will help.

If Mathilde wants Ranald's attention, saying 'hold my beer' usually does the trick.

Ok so the manor and talking to the local chapter of Randal followers is a must for me. I am tempted by the loot and plunder option because of books, or just donating it to the Coleges, or the many widows and orphans in the empire, or books.

Considering what we have given to Regimand I don't think we should bring in Heidi. While we can certainly sell it bringing it as a friend who being an Haupt-Anderson has a vested interest in this affair and as the empress has significant resources, doing so runs the risk of showing that we are actually doing this as a favour to Heidi and not Mira. Should this occur it will cast doubt on our reasoning and thus could prompt further investigation.

On the other hand I do have some doubts that I might be too pessimistic and thus fear mongering so I am open to counter-argument.

[Does Regimand help? Roll: 78-10(busy)-20(college politics)+100(wants to spend time with Mathilde)=148.]
Can I just say how this gives me such fuzzy feelings? Really wish there were more chances to just spend time with Wizard-Dad and that he was an available social action. It feels bittersweet to see them Regimand's details on the Dramatis Personae relegated to the "Former, Fallen, Distant Characters" section...

E:
Also, low-key conflicted about the lost opportunity to involve Heidi on this matter now that Regimand is sticking around to help. Really wanted to see potential shenanigans ensue with Heidi flexing luck manipulation and her considerable intrigue skills.

I have an image in my mind now, of another god near the culmination of some chain of events or other leaning over to ask Ranald what he thinks Mathilde will do next.

Ranald, grinning like a loon and greatly looking forward to what's about to happen, answers "Oh, I have absolutely no clue."

[ ] Plunder Krieglitz Manor
It's unstaffed and unguarded, protected only by locked doors, boarded windows, and a sinister reputation. Who knows what riches the Unfähigers squirreled away during their time in power?
This is really tempting considering how much of the waystone project we have to pay for out of pocket.

"Found them," he says as soon as Cloak Activity "The current head of the family and the members in his favour are holed up with Alric in Bad Dankerode, on the external southeastern flank of the Taalbaston."
Seeing the latest comments about Mathilde learning Cloak Activity reminded me of this typo, which I neglected to bring up. It looks like it's missing a punctuation mark and a predicate to go with the Cloak Activity subject.

Something to keep in mind, we have to approach this investigation in ways Alric can't or we'll be stuck on catch-up.

Interrogating the spa folks sounds pretty juicy, but the risk... I wouldn't even consider it if not for our amazing intrigue and the night crawler. And I'm pretty sure the latter only applies outside.

Can't put much effort towards this right now, gotta sleep. Good luck, all!

Ah, I didn't mean he has an empty nest syndrome, I meant that, considering the modifier, short of outright claiming to assassinate Alric in the name of Chaos Gods Regimand would have likely agreed regardless of how much truth we chose to tell him.

Then again, maybe there is such a thing as too much truth when you're talking about the current empress who is a former member of the same conspiracy he killed the previous empress for participating in.

Fuck it, Heidi, for an empress you are surprisingly disreputable. We can't introduce you to our dad, our girlfriend, our dwarf king, any gods we both aren't already acquainted with. Maybe it's time to admit that you have a bit of a gambling problem.

Honestly thinking we should focus on the hunting lodge Unfahigers.

After all, the most influential family members are holed up and safe with Alric, the anti-chaos mage, inside a sanctified area.
Others? Easy pickings for others to kill and for us to interrogate.

Well in order to figure out how we can investigate that Alric can't we need to know how Alric can. So assuming that he knows the entire light spell book what advantages would he have in investigation? Unless he has other skills we know about?

If we had our coin set to protector then I would suggest we just go to Alric and help him to the best of our ability. It would serve all our objectives very well. Or deciver to just lie to him about our motives.

Many years later, overheard in the Imperial Palace of Altdorf...
"Mandred, there are things about your mom you don't know, and I'm pretty sure you're much happier not knowing them."
"I'm not asking about Mother's sex life, Aunt Mathilde."
"...Now I kind of wish you were asking about that instead."
