[ ] Truth
Prepare a secure container to store the crystal in, with room for many more to come.
[ ] Faith
Sacrifice the crystal to Ranald in an act of dedication to Him.
[ ] Prudence
Break the crystal, burn your notes, and never again allow the Vitae to touch the Divine.
- The result of this vote should be considered permanent.
... Wait, question. Since the results are considered permanent, then, does that mean if Truth or Prudence wins, that we would not use the Vitae to pour energy into Ranald?

i.e. Never do the "fill crystals of divine Ranaldite energy, and then sacrifice it to him to power him up" option ever, because we didn't vote for the Faith option, which means we are not going to be sacrificing any energy to Ranald because doing so would bring his attention to this whole thing?

I mean if that is the case -- because if we were told "If you don't pick Truth, then you don't continue the research" then that means the opposite implication should be true; that it means that if we don't vote to sacrifice this energy to Ranald, then we can't vote to sacrifice it to Ranald in the future -- then that'd make sense, but it hadn't occurred to me to ask that yet.

Is that the case @Boney?

While not picking Truth means we don't continue doing the research path on our own, not picking Faith means we lock out the ability to sacrifice Vitae to Ranald?

If that is the case, in hindsight that should be obvious, but... yeah. "Research this yourself on your own. Or open up the possibility of sacrificing vitae to Ranald."?

Vitae is the substance of the realm of the Gods. Sacrificing it to Ranald is like sacrificing water to a fish.

[x] Truth
This is most in character for Mathilde so far. Anything else would be sus, and we should kick her out for being an impostor. Anyway go big or go home is my takeaway on this. Considering if Truth doesn't win we will never be able to take such an option ever again. So let's see where this coin will fall:
Truth or Faith.

[X] Truth

This is very interesting…

Is Ranald deliberately looking the other way? Ranald may want Mathilde to go ahead with this but also want plausible deniability that he didn't know she was doing this in case she gets caught!
While I think there's a good chance that he is deliberately not paying too much attention, that doesn't outright mean he wants Mathilde to go ahead.
It might be as simple as, he wouldn't mind if she did.

I'd also not that, if we assume Ranald not noticing took him deliberately looking away from his artifact, that makes the endeavor of doing the same thing with other gods a whole lot more fraught.

All that aside, it's a hella interesting project and I'm way too tempted to resist.

This is a tough decision but in the end I am going with
[x] Truth
Mostly because I like the idea of Mathilde risking her relationship with Ranald and potentially crossing a line he set.

Vitae is the substance of the realm of the Gods. Sacrificing it to Ranald is like sacrificing water to a fish.

It is but at the same time its energy from Ranald in the mortal world that didnt have to pass through a soul which is a bottle neck. Correct me if im wrong?

Does that not have major significance all on its own?

Always nice to see Mathilde getting her Lab on.

As to the results: Great Success.
By all indications we can indeed 'launder' AV into divine power. Whether the god in question can use that power is unknown. Whether the amount is significant is unknown, although Mathilde may be able to make vague estimates. Regardless of that, the principle is sound.

The crystal… on boy. That has implications.
Unfortunately they are more political than anything else. And Mathilde is by no means powerful enough to fight that battle. Nor is there a clear and present benefit to having divine fingerprints.
Perhaps in a hundred turns Mathilde would be ready to go god hunting, but not now.

Of the other options I vastly prefer Faith over Prudence. If Ranald takes offence to something done in 'curiousity and ignorance' and for his benefit, he is no god worth following.

I know this is going to turn out badly, that we are going to crash and burn for this. But I would regret letting this chance go.

[X] Truth

I shall set as free.

If were memeing then i have to go with the first duty.

The first duty of every magister is to the Truth.

Whether its aethyric truth or historical truth or personal truth. It is the guiding principle on which the colleges of magic is based. If we cant find it within ourselves to stand up and seize the truth then we dont deserve to wear our magister lord Robes.

You know, if we share some of the results of this with Cython... do we get Ice Dragon research bro? It would be really open up results to prove or disprove how true his(there's?) theories are or how widespread the doubling down is.
