All I have to say is getting slammed through a roof onto what is most certainly a holy icon if not a proper holy spear by one of her chosen and then decapitated probably means that vampire won't be a problem for the rest of the quest!

...usually. There are some bastards out there that are such cockroaches that they would come back even if we dropped them into the sun.

At least I'm sure the body will be handed over to Cult of Morr who will burn it to ashes, put those ashes into obsidian blocks, and dump said blocks into ocean alongside major trade routes as has been the protocol for awhile, which Magnus fully endorses.

Sadly, even that is possible for a vampire to come back from if they are powerful enough since Vlad did eventually come back in canon. All we can do is be constantly vigilant for vamps and undead in general, something which the Cult of Morr thankfully takes super seriously as well.

I am aware I did not specify that it took two weeks, and that I was vague about it.

However, my post was in response to yours saying 'If we stayed another day then by pure random chance etc. etc.', when it was clear that it took longer than a day to get to Marienburg the first time around, at the noted repeatedly accelerated breakneck pace of getting to Marienburg. If the pace is noted to be reduced, not necessarily by the weather, but by less of an impetus to speed up+relaxation with the wife, then it is reasonable that it would lengthen the trip considerably, even within Westerland. Comparing a relaxed slow pace to one that was exceedingly fast to the point of repeatedly surprising multiple provincial representative, extrapolating that it took a good length of time just getting out of Marienburg should not have been that big of an issue.

Comparing the paces of movement is the key of the issue, between the two updates. One, when blitzing all the way down to Marienburg, and the other, slowly and contemplatively meandering back along the same path.
The Westerland is not Marienburg. One doesn't need a specific time of travel to know that.
Personal experience hiking long distances had me believe they could cover a lot more ground even at a relaxed pace because they are all much, much better conditioned than I could ever be. I've still covered plenty of ground in less time than you would believe so I can't help but stay skeptic.
I looked at this map and it led me down a rabbit hole charting the route they took home.
It's clear that they shouldn't have needed two weeks to reach Middenland. They wouldn't be able to avoid crossing the River Reik. They could go by ferry across the river, which would take a day. I could see it taking at least two weeks if they waited 13 days for a boat because the river was frozen, but that's too big of a stretch to believe.
Then they'd take the Great North Road to Middenheim(I don't know if that existed in Magnus the Pious' time) and enter Nordland from there. They could take the road around the Forest of Shadows, through Salkalten and skirt around the Middle Mountains to enter Wulfenburg. The whole trip would definitely take at least a month and a half and it would be beautiful. Seriously, snowy forests are gorgeous to look at. I'm so jealous they could spend that much time. I wanna take a trip now, damn it.
Anyways, I'm rambling and I've lost the point but I wanted to share this. It has to be worth something for all the time I spent thinking about it.

I look forward to the Imperial Fighting League Arena grand opening coming up. Is it silly to want Freddy and Urgdug to go into that ring wearing masks and play the 'mysterious' fighter angle while kicking ass and taking names like they did on their night out on the town in Nuln all those years ago? :D
...Mexican Wrestler Freddy? I'm here for it.

Since we making bloodsport fighting like this legal, and no longer always a do or die thing, in a Ulfric majority province I honestly think the people would love their Count fighting for the masses, Urgdug even more so.
I'd be up for it, though it would have to be emphasized as low stakes because nobody is going to be happy actually fighting a fifteen-foot tall ogre and whatever Freddy would appear as.

Either both of them versus a group with winnings going to buying drinks or an exhibition match.

Of course, everyone recognizes them, even in their disguises.

But no need to let Frederick and Urgdug know that. Let them have their fun.

Here's to hoping Gunthar and Co survive. I don't expect them to somehow manage to kill the Brass Keep, Beastmen and any possible Beastmen reinforcements in that area.

I can't help wondering just what led to such a thematic death for Mundvard. It could have been a hint of divine power, it could have been sheer chance...that's the thing with the human gods of the Old World, theirs is as much a subtle thing as it is one of open metaphysical demonstration.

Weird, I never got a notification regarding the new update...anyway.

I'm not sure if I should be relieved or angry that we missed out on the excitement in Marienburg by a single day, but whatever, that's life!

Thus, vampires got a lot more scrutiny in the Empire than usual at this point in the timeline. Which, in turn, led to the swelling of the Vampire Coast, the re-death of Mannfred, and so on. I'm not saying that it doesn't seem like the vampires are 'losing hard' every time they come up, but I would caution to restrict it to the addendum of 'in the Empire'. The Twins showed that there are definitely the vampires in Araby, there are vampires in other nations of the Old World for certain, and then there are those in places like Ind and Cathay.

Speaking of Araby, is Araby like the Southlands version of Norsca? Albeit with less mutations cause of distance from the poles. Cause I was doing some editing over at 1d4chan and in the course of doing it I ended up finding info on Araby and how it went from monotheistic in the first editions to Djinn worshipping in later editions. Also one of their timeline entries mentions how their magic practices were irrevocably corrupted by a keeper of secrets and how Sultan Jaffar (the first guy to unify Araby since Arkhan the Black broke his foot off in their asses back during the undead wars) was a sorcerer and how the Golden Magus was a Tzeentch worshipper. So yeah are they basically all Southland demon worshippers?

Also on that note what are the differences between an elemental, a djinn, and a demon? You briefly went into it while we were traveling to Marienburg but it still seemed a bit vague. Is an elemental just cause a place with a certain elemental affinity like a lava field got over saturated with magic? Whereas a djinn is the same but with soul fragments mixed in and a demon is just raw soul stuff plus magic? I know there's one instance of a named djinn in the Mordheim tabletop game in the form of the scimitar wielding Khar-Mel but she just seemed like a demon that could shift between a sand storm form and the form of an Araby woman.

I know we sort of put Gunther down into the mud but we dont know if he will find the stronghold of chaos and we dont know the exact composition of what he is bringing to the table to raze the Brass Keep but at least have some FAITH,
Sigmar,Ulric,Taal,Verena that they succeed in burning the wretched place for its one less place that the infestation of Chaos can breed from!

Speaking of the Brass Keep, other than being a place a necromancer lived with the Crown of Sorcery for a time that Sigmar killed and by canon being inhabited by chaos warriors is there anything to it that is important/dangerous other than being really weird/may sit on a leyline or something to explain weirdness?

There's a sorcererous portal/chaos gate there according to the wikis but it's apparently been broken for a while. It's still probably leaking Chaos energy which probably explains the weirdness and why the chaos warriors invaded it.

You would be amazed at how much slower a group that's in no particular hurry can travel relative to any of the individuals within the group.

Especially when the whole thing is to some large extent a pretext for giving the Countess an opportunity to flex by turning what would otherwise be an unpleasant march into a comfy winter promenade vacation while the kids take care of the family business back home.

I confess that I approve of the idea of Freddy taking on a hobbyist career as a lucha wrestler.

Urgdug is of course a contender, but is far too big and undeniable to compete meaningfully in any weight class other than "Urgdugweight."

"I return with dozens of fancy metal plates with strange pictures on them."

So who is taking bets for how much of the city will be left when the Slann are done getting their shit back. Still really disappointing he didn't hit the elves instead.
Yeah. Hijacking Mazdamundi's grocery list was NOT a good idea. :p

I think Masked Freddy would make a great heel to be honest, he has the personality for it. :p

'Urgdugweight' is basically you are not allowed to fight Urgdug unless you are at least a team of five to ten full grown ogres, at least to give you a chance. And of course Urgdug is a face and nothing else!

All we need for a fight for the ages is a foreigner Nippon sumo fighter to really make it a battle of the fat! :D

I expect good things from IFL section since the GM is a big fan of wrestling and such in general, and no doubt lots of ogre fighting will be based on that based on past discussion.

Prob a mix of both lucky and faith rolls of Evangeline rolling to land somewhere safe.

Maybe the Bretonnian Pegasi also influenced the roll with the lady adding in some spite rolls to make the vampire pay for the knights death.

But mostly, it is no different from our own freddy 3 nat 100 during the witch hunter interrogation, Roland rolling faith that both helped Urgdug and himself from being shot, or the spear throw that had us killsteal the Anath Rema priestess.

One things for certain, our dice certainly has a taste for drama.

Eh, actually it's quite different. Evangeline has a Celestial Wizard on staff, remember? Rumors are rumors, after all...

And, as noted in the update, the news that hit Wulfenburg had 'just' gotten there. It had to propagate its way through Westerland, through Middenland, through Nordland/Hochland, then Ostland, before hitting Wulfenburg. You hadn't yet gotten any reports from your people in Marienburg either. That's something for the rumor mill to try and clarify further, mmm?

This is a bit off topic, but can anyone recommend any good FanFiction for warhammer fantasy? I've read through the entire quest in a few days and I've aching for more in between updates.

There is virtually no fanfiction of note, but I point to BoneyM's Divided Loyalties Quest and Gaius Marius Imperial Knightly Order quest for quality Warhammer content.

There's The Divided Loyalties quest that's also on SV. Haven't read it myself, but a lot of people seem to like it.

I strongly encourage you to give it a shot.
