One of the problems is that they have to deal with Mourn Ogres. Without our starting population of native Ogres, this wouldn't have worked nearly so well.
Not necessarily, it serves as powerful advertising for our gunnery school, and we can still sell regular cannons and guns...if we expand our production at least. They can't get Thunderbringers, but I can't think of any better advertising for our cannon quality than literally vaporizing a charge in front of their eyes.

[X] The Best Offense Is A Good Defense: By staying back and leveraging your archers, handgunners, cannons, Thunderbringers, and the magical might of the Imperial Wizards and Archmage Aurelion (Apparently Teclis and his male companion must conserve their energies for…something) You can tear great big holes into the enemy lines. Your forces will have to be a bulwark during this, so basically this will be an endurance test. – Supported by Talabecland, Stirland, and Wissenland.

The problem is that you are assuming that it is going to be a single enemy. Sure, if it's just another boss, we just go ahead. If it's not though, if they have managed to set something really nasty (like say, a portal to Khorne's realm) up...

Well, I don't want to be facing a small army of Chariots of Khorne on our own.

They are besieging Nuln, endgame and close to their prize.

The siege has gone on long enough for the besieged force to have lost 45% of their number.

This is their endgame, if they lose here it's a mop-up operation for us.

This isn't a campaign we started. This is a campaign they started, we just arrived for the final battle(Objective in sight: Kill Magnus).

Enough blood has been shed for them to even summon an extra ???, something that took them an unknown number of years grinding in warped time and a worthy sacrifice the last time.

Also, there's a near point parity in troops between individual sides while we have the fortifications in a free-for-all.

Of course there's going to be a second/third wave if we choose defence, it's why we should aim our cannons mostly at the Chaos forces and fort up.

We killed a third of the Ork forces, of the two, they are less liable to be reinforced with anything huge and unlike Thorgar, they just want to fight, not specifically kill Magnus.

The disappearance of the Juggernauts alongside our failed cavalry charge also implies the Orks have good anti-cav preparations so I'm not horribly worried about chariots, especially considering us having fortifications.

You have forgotten about the dark elves controlling the waagh.

Point. Do we know what they are after beyond revenge?

Also, if they were looking for revenge, why the hell did they go the exact opposite direction of the person that actually attacked them?

Edit:
I think it's less "control" and more "herd."

You can't really control Orcs.
Eh, controlling an Ork is just like controlling a cat. Dangle something shiny in front of them and let nature take it's course. The trick is even the same: just don't let them catch up. The consequences are different though....

... It could be Exalted Slaughterbrutes granted by Khorne himself.

... That... Would be Capital B Bad since they would essentially be Thorgar but in an even more butchery form with no danger for him.

...You get to sing me to sleep tonight.

I really wish I were playing as a Skaven right now...

There arent many big nasties of Khorne.

... Well, Maybe if they are Named Daemons of Khorne.
While he lacks the sheer amount of different types of Daemons he has many many Named Hero Killers and Regiment Eaters that can be summoned.

I am now praying that the Damned Skulltaker isnt here. But this is an big big battle so im not getting my hopes up.

Man, cavalry can't get a break in this battle, eh?

I'd like to make an Omake, torroar, would you mind giving a rough estimate on how many handgunners are in the entire army?

That's pretty disappeared to me.

Bloodletter+Juggarnaut=Bloodcrusher Heavy Daemonic Cavalry. They morphed on the army list, not disappeared.

12,000 from Ostland
20,000 from Nuln
5,000 Talabecland
5,000 from Stirland
--------------
42,000

I was just reading about magnus on and at the end of the Great War against Chaos part it says that when Magnus's army traveled south
they liberated Ostland and Ostermark and proceeded to clear all the empire's forests of Beastmen.
Did that not happen in this quest or was it just less effective?

Presumably when they say cleared they don't mean eradicated.

Plus new beastmen are created every year during Geheimnisnacht/Winter's Eve anyway.
