Seem like the most obvious picks now, especially as we're getting back to bloodying Cardassian nose in Gabriel.

[X][ROM] Romulan Ship Analysis Report - Bird-of-Prey-Replacement

Might become handy in the future, but honestly at this point Romulans are much less of a priority.

[X][REPORT] Interstellar Commonwealth Diplomatic Posture Report
[X][REPORT] Horizon Harmony Diplomatic Posture Report

These two are pretty big on my priority list. The IC can be, if not a super-affiliate, then at least a strong ally, while Horizon is very much shaping up to be another possible threat. Even if it isn't, I'd keep my eye on them. On that note:

[X][REPORT] Horizon Fleet Strength Report

I'd rather find out now what exactly the Horizon have in store, rather than wait for it to surprise us. It might also help us determining how much of an issue those guys can be.

[X][REPORT] GBZ: Konen Fleet Strength

Konen are next into the fray, so it's only prudent to allocate resources to find out what they've got. Last time I remember the Konen fleet actually packed a solid punch, so they might end up being a more difficult challenger.

So the Obsidian Order wants a Science Fight in the GBZ now, do they? Silly Cardassians, that's almost as bad an idea as trying to out-diplomacy us :drevil:

[][REPORT] GBZ: Determine what projects other factions are up to

I've seen several people voting for this option, but I don't see the point. We got a Projects report only last year, and big industrial projects don't happen very fast. Asking every other year is probably sufficient.

Personally, I'm not sure about the need for a Cardassian Tactics report. We just bloodied them, and they're switching to Science.

... We need to move more cruisers in.

[X] [Report] ISC Weapons Systems

Because any tech boosts we can get for Phaser Arrays significantly reduces the time required to finish the tech. Given that it is gating an entire new generation of ships and a refit of the Amby that will likely boost all stats by +1, arrays are worth the investment.

Let's NOT go for espionage on the one major power that we're likely to get along with, OK?

We've got EC sensor logs of the system in action, we're not going to get anything better than that without engaging in skullduggery and the ISC is going to be at least as hard a espionage target as the Romulans or Cardassians on sheer institutional paranoid.

[X][REPORT] Dylaarian Federation Diplomatic Posture Report

We're about to come into closer contact potentially of the hostile kind with them, they're relatively big and important, and Celos is on the way out. We really want to know if we have any chance to Diplomance them away from shooting at us, or from supporting the Cardies doing the same.

[ ] Tactical and Technological innovations of the Romulan-Klingon War (Research Progress, especially for Doctrines)

@OneirosTheWriter, would this be a valid write-in? And just to be sure can you confirm that we get the Klingon-Romulan War report for free, as several people have already asked?

Most of our Intel comes from Signal Intercepts and analysis of data from ships that happen to be in certain areas. We already got a boost from analyzing data on ISC encounters. This shouldn't be more than that. @OneirosTheWriter ?

You won't get much technical research data from SIGINT, and you have no SAPINT in the ISC. You also don't have an ISC Desk at this stage. (Uh, surprise, but I've added a couple extra options to the last snakepit related to intel so I don't forget to add them next time around)

It was right there in the event awards, why are people asking this!?

Paranoia/Perfectionism, making sure that we understood you right(1), seeing as it's a pretty important report and we don't want to accidentally shoot ourselves in the foot by not getting it. Would propably have helped if it had been mentioned in the Intel Steering post again, an X in the bracket of the KR war report to set it off from the other reports for example.

(1) versus, for example, "you get some info for free, but not as much as with a dedicated report". Or maybe the free update and the report might have stacked, allowing us to get more in-depth intel than a normal report on it's own would have.

For those wondering I'm fairly sure these are all the new options:
  • Acquire additional resources to establish a Horizon Desk for Starfleet Intel, 30pp (Gain +1 Dedicated Horizon intel report)
  • Acquire additional resources to establish an ISC Desk for Starfleet Intel, 30pp (Gain +1 Dedicated ISC intel report)
  • Declare a Horizon Border Zone, 20pp
  • Declare a Seyek Border Zone (Seyek-Cardassian Border), 20pp
  • Declare a Rimward Border Zone (Dawiar border, some Caitian colonies, some Themis), 20pp

Is there much point in asking for an ISC Diplomatic Posture report, since we don't ahve any means to get more info than what was already provided? I realize you were answering about tech research data, but our options seem thin either way.

And remember people, it's not that far to the research results post, so ideas for Gaeni Institute logos are welcome! :V

Diplomatic is more viable - but fwiw it would pay to remember that as of a couple years ago they didn't even have a diplomatic posture to report on. So it would be a pretty skinny report.
