It may well be that when we fully understand why the Bene are doing so well, we will approve and want to
Nevertheless, we should understand what is going on. The Bene have a better than even chance of being the dominant governmental feature of the post-war Licori species. We should make sure to have the measure of them.
Because bringing our most rational, controlled dudes to carefully dissect the exotic Licori technologies under controlled circumstances is our best chance to understand what these things do, what is required to make them operate, and (if applicable) how to stop them.
We can't possibly know that we've got every copy of the blueprints for any dreadful secret weapons House Ixira may have developed. We can't assume that there are no 'strategic redoubt' areas left to that House, or to the Licori in general, where one of those weapons could be rebuilt. It would be unwise for us to just straight-up burn the only copies of this technology in our control, without even trying to investigate it. I trust the Vulcans not to fuck this up, even if in theory there is some chance of them doing so.
