And hey if the Capitalists spend the absurd amount of resources to somehow crack the tech, well I for one am not above using our spies to yoink it and considering it a win.
None yet.
The chance might be for all intents and purpose impossible. But well, many things that was thought to be impossible turned out to be possible. I mean, instantaneous communication spits at the rule that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light, and yet, people found out it is actually theoretically possible thanks to how paired atoms work.
Though more likely, the most risk would be the US supercharging relevant fields of research and finding other discoveries while in pursuit of the reactionless drive.

No. That is a misconception borne from bad science reporting. It is impossible to transfer actual information outside of one's light cone using that trick. This isn't like the sound 'barrier', it's baked into the foundation of reality as we know it.

I genuinely cracked up with the conclusion that the Universe itself is trolling us when I learned about quantum entanglement and the speed of light. The one thing in the entire universe that happens instantly rather than propagating normally through spacetime, and it's the most pointless and silly thing ever. When one of a pair of entangled particles is observed, the other entangled particle will spin in the opposite direction regardless of distance. The kicker? Which way the first particle spins is completely random, and for all intents and purposes, the other particle doesn't start spinning until it's observed so you can't use the timings either.
Anyway, voting against the trend here, but I'd rather not have everyone freak out about us being a tiny country that independently went nuclear.
[Z] Common Effort (You and the Chinese made it)
Well we got some good press from Workers Movies United in the USSR with a blurb just after we made Songs of the City, on the other hand we got a look at how the USSR sees us in The World Looks On update of the Iwo Jima Crisis, and it looks like they don't have the best opinion of us. So I imagine that anything we put out is thoroughly vetted in the USSR at least, and only shown if it passes their standards. Can't remember if we've gotten anything about how the PRC is handling Commiewood media.
While I think deflecting the attention to China would probably be the smart decision given everything else we're going to be revealing soon, I really want to see what kind of insanity the US cooks up in response to us showing off our brand new fighter, self designed nuclear reactors, and Iron Tigers in a relatively short time period.

I don't think we want to show off our reactor yet - for starters we're going to need at least one more project to actually design a SMR that we can deploy, so a reveal would likely take place next plan.
on a more serious note do you think the other communist nation would go along with this because well it goes against the former policy
on another note, the Bolsheviks declaring communist an atheist ideology was a mistake in hindsight due to alienating a large amount of the populace from their message.

Yes, the whole point of us doing LibTheo was to capture the religious left - the Bolsheviks had very understandable reasons for mainlining atheism through. The Russian orthodox church remains a bastion of reactionary to this day IRL, and it was a major cornerstone of the Tsar's support. I'm hopeful that we can actually use this to our advantage by offering the USSR to send LibTheo trained orthodox priests to slowly displace all the reactionary ones (priests which will be more positively inclined to the social revolution after a few years in Gaungchou).
There's also a bunch of televangelism we need to do @ the Philippines.

yeah true but it was used as internal propaganda by the capitalist nations that the godless communist would come and destroy their churches and burn their holy book in order to destroy their culture.
so while it was understandable from their point of view it was also short-sighted in that they alienated people that might have at least listened to them.
and yes that would be good but trying to get the soviet union to see would be another matter entirely
I think we also want to send material aid and revolutionary Imans to Iran next turn - maybe we can prevent the fundamentalists from consolidating power by equipping the more progressive Marxists.

[X] [Afghanistan] RISE UP, YE SHACKLED MASSES!
(12 + 6 = 18 - Boosted) "ALLAH, LIFE, FREEDOM," came the screamed chant from the massive crowd of people marching in the streets, flags, banners, posters, and all manner of things wielded by the revolutionaries on their march. "ALLAH, LIFE, FREEDOM," they continued, a dozen cameras from around the world capturing similar scenes within every city of Afghanistan, the people rising by the thousands everywhere. Within the cities, the liberals and communists spearheaded the mobs and crowds; red banners flew in the wind and fluttered proudly as over a decade of support by various communist regimes paid off. In the rural regions, Imams of all stripes and callings led their congregations to dismantle what structures and statues of the now disintegrating government stood around them, soldiers and police being stripped of weaponry and not rarely life for past crimes.
What military might existed within the country had either long been undermined and been part of the uprising, those soldiers proudly marching with and protecting the rising populace cheered on as heroes. In contrast, others slinked either into the protests as late supporters or fanatically held to the old powers. The latter groups quickly found themselves under siege and attacked by guns, mortars, and tanks. The latter was rarely used to fire upon the revolutionaries, many crews having been caught unaware by an Imam leading his congregation into the base at the crack of dawn and overwhelmed what guards hadn't joined weeks or months before.
It was a day of rebellion, a day of violence, and one of liberation, old shackled cast off and a tyrannical regime overthrown, prisoners freed from their cells, the mangled bodies and tortured faces cast out into the world by camera and photo. Hundreds of cronies and supporters of the old powers soon found themselves at the mercy of those whom they had wrung for every drop of blood while the oil fields burned in a last-ditch attempt to halt, or at the very least critically injure, the rebels.
And it was also a day of music.
Chants, prayers, and hymns from ancient times were sung and cast far and wide via loudspeakers, while thousands of throats joined into song while they cheered at the destruction of hated monuments and their liberation from unjust laws and hated bonds.
And so they sang: "The night now falls on tyrants might, a thousand dawns break for the people's rights..."

"Why that does sound downright frightening," Tiga Tigress said, hugging a scared Yeung, who tried to bury himself into her fur. "Why would someone do that?" She asked, looking at the guest star of the third episode: Kai Lang, Professor at the TSBRI, who had come to explain the basics of ecological conservation.
"Greed and ignorance," he readily answered, several puppets nodding at that, one of the trio of ratolutionaries loudly gasping. "There are many people that just don't know their seemingly innocent actions can hurt the planet, though most can be taught how to stop doing so," he added, smiling all the while.
"But what about the others, the greedy ones?" Yeung spoke, the sheep looking out from Tiga, eyes large.
"Well, those are the ones that know their actions cause harm but continue because they profit," one of the ratolutionaries fainted, "from doing so." Again, gasps were heard as the show continued, now going over into the ideological part of the show, gently introducing the communist ideology in small understandable bits without being condescending to children. One was always surprised by how intelligent kids were; they just lacked experience putting those smarts to use.

Construction continues across the nation, with ever more housing rising into the sky as more people find themselves assigned homes leagues above their previous living standards. To say that bringing the two nations together at the same table was touch-and-go would be an actual insult to all your diplomats, spies, blackmailers, movers, shakers, and all the other people you threw at the problem until it stopped being one and turned into a possible solution. It all started, as most things do, with buttering up those most likely to turn away the offer. You did so by showing off the various pieces of the American Aircraft Carrier that had been long since disassembled and the most iconic and noteworthy parts put into a museum.
The next part proved to be far trickier, mainly because when you and your people began to test out potential willingness to set aside extreme ideological purity for ideological cohesion with other communist states around the globe, the Chinese got cold feet and metaphorically closed ranks. Again, something had them (politicians and higher-ups in the party and system) spooked from even appearing to cooperate or conducting diplomacy on their initiative. Troubling, but not relevant aside from their increased distrust and harder shells.
Yet, you managed to bring them out, lure them in, and hook them onto the trap. ...weird metaphor, but you get the gist of what it means.
The Russians were insultingly easy to bring to the table in contrast to that.
But now, both sides would meet and try to hash things out. Finally, all that remained was to ensure neither side began swinging chairs at the other.

Wei looked up from the massive compiled report on their desk, a combined four-thousand pages of technical terms, drawings, documents, mathematical equations, and one philosophical love poem to the chemical structure of salt overloading the solid wood desk. Then, glancing to the side, Wei spotted the other nineteen-thousand pages assembled in folders and binders in their office, yet more calculations and theoretical formulas neatly written down.
With a sigh, they mentally scribbled out their planned day off tomorrow and instead got on reading the abbreviated proposal the nutters from the ENR-Project had cooked up in their spare time with the other nutters in this madhouse.
Because Molten Salt for a Nuclear Reactor? This would change the world or be a massive waste of good paper.

Nearly all parents worry about their children's future; only the exceptionally bad or incredibly assured ones don't. And with you being the head of state of a nation, you had to worry massively about your children's future, not only for their sake but also for yours. So taking them from you and trying to use you as a puppet was a genuine concern, with anything like killings, second-degree revenge, and more being carried out against your kids as possibilities of hostile actions against them to get you. But, likewise, on the other end was the dread you felt with the realization that, even if you did your best and tried as hard as possible, your children, precious and adorable as they are, could end up turning into people with despicable or horrific morals, tendencies, and characters.
That is all a long way to say that you had always kind of not thought about your children taking over but had been sorta programmed by your father to assume it to happen once you croak it. So, until the thought slammed into you with the weight of a freight train, you had taken it for granted that Ma Li would become the next Great Leader like you had when your father died.
Which stank of hereditary government, something you did not want to happen in Guangchou or be normalized.
Yet, even so, the number of people you could trust to work for the people instead of having the people work for them could be counted on one hand with one finger missing.
But then again, you still had some years in you (you desperately hoped so, at the very least two decades more to see your children grow up and come into their own), and many things could change until then. Luckily, the new school system was a solid step in the right direction, as soon new generations would enter the workforce more used to the principles of communism than even the revolutionaries that overthrew The Last Queen!
And until then, you just needed to spend more time with your kids to ensure they became the best they could be. Point in order: you were going to do that just now!

"Mai," you spoke in the silence of your bedroom, staring at the ceiling above as your wife murmured an 'mh?' at your question, stirring in her dozing. "Am I a reactionary?"
"...are you high?" She replied as she turned around to look at you, squinting through her tiredness.
"No, I..." you sighed, shaking your head. "Just a lot of things going through my head right now. You can sleep," you added as her squint took on a disgruntled appearance.
"Alright, but if it is urgent, we can talk about this," she added after a moment, falling asleep again as you didn't reply. Instead, you merely stared at the ceiling until you fell asleep.
Neither of you remembered the interaction the morning after.

--[] The BS-4 (Crewed Anti-Tank)
(The BS-4 is a field and anti-tank gun, taking inspiration from the BS-3. Its primary use is for coastal defense forces with a six-meter barrel and 11-meter length overall.)
--[] The Police Carrier Anti-Tank (Self-Propelled AT)
(The PC is a simple armored personnel carrier taking inspiration from the BTR-152 (appearance/shape), the BTR-60 (turret), and the M3 half-track (tracks). At 20 tons with a top speed of 75 km/h on-road and 50 km/h off-road, this vehicle can transport its five crew where needed. With only light armor protecting its passengers, it utilizes an imported Soviet KPVT HMG, a rocket-deliver platform, and a coaxial machine gun for offensive operations. Additionally, the passenger compartment of the PC has been removed in favor of an AT Cannon with a gun shield.)
-[] Design A Native Sidearm (Describe) (Choose Any/All)
--[] Fateful Seal (Revolver)
(The Fateful Seal is designed as a top-break gas-seal revolver, using the Webley and the Nagant M1895 for inspiration. Research shows that as much as 26% of propellant gas escapes through the barrel and cylinder gap. Like more or less all gas-seal revolvers, the FS uses the cartridge case to seal the gap between the cylinder and the barrel. It uses a 13.2x55mmSR cartridge; the flat nose boattail bullet is 13.2 millimeters wide and 15 millimeters tall. It has a level on the right side, like the Webley revolver, and is used for the same purpose. Additionally, with the proposed 4.7-inch to 12-inch long barrels, the FS uses a combination detachable shoulder stock and holster and a 6-or-7-round cylinder.)
--[] Conscript's Friend (Cheap Pistol)
(The CF is a dead-simple integral box magazine pistol taking inspiration from the Steyr Hahn, the FN 1903, the Browning Hi-Power, and the TT-33. The FN 1903 provided the CF with its general shape and appearance, the Steyr Hahn, its integral magazine and stripper clip guide, the Browning Hi-Power knowledge on double-stack magazines, and some more modern safety features, and last but not least, the TT-33 gave the CF knowledge on simplicity. Cambered in an 8x40mmSR cartridge, the CF is designed to be as simple as possible while safely chambering its integral 10-round box fed with stripper clips. The handgun is supposed to be so simple that anyone who can rifle the barrel should be able to make the rest of the pistol with hand tools.)
--[] Spook's Squeak (Agent Pistol)
(The SQ is more or less a full copy of the Welrod except for its size and particular cartridge. With a total of 203mm in length, the SQ is chambered in the particular 6.5x30mmSR cartridge using a removable 8-shot magazine.)
--[] The Soldiers Pistol (Army Pistol)
The SP is essentially a Browning Hi-Power chambered in 10x37mmSR and fed from a 10 to 20-round detachable double-stack magazine with a barrel length of 12 cm and an overall length of 20 cm, not counting the detachable combination shoulder stock and holster.

--[] The Police's Friend (Bolt-Action Rifle with shotgun+grenade capabilities)
(The PF, just like FS, is meant to be used by police and rear line units and is a bolt-action rifle design taking inspiration from the Lee-Enfield, the Swedish Mauser, and the Fateful Seal. The Swedish Mauser provided the PF with its general shape, appearance, and stripper clip guide, the Lee-Enfield it's magazine and sling mounts, and the Fateful Seal gave the PF the base for its unique 12 g under-barrel revolver shotgun. The PF is meant to be able to use 40mm rifle grenades such as HEAT, HE, and Smoke, with the under-barrel shotgun supposed to be primarily used for riot control in police use and rear line units. Chambered in the same 13.2x55mmSR cartridge as the Fateful Seal, the PF is fed from a 10-round detachable magazine with a 25-inch barrel length and a 40-inch overall length.)
--[] The Militia's Friend (Cheap SMG)
(The MF is a crude SMG taking inspiration from the Sten, PPS, Swedish m/45 SMG, MP 40, and MP 3008. The MF, just like the CF, is meant to be used not by the military but by the militia forces of Guangchou. The Swedish m/45 gave the MF its general shape and appearance; the MP 3008 gave the shoulder stock; the PPS, its knowledge of curved magazines; the MP 40, the safety features and sling mounts; and the Sten, its simplicity. With a fire rate of 570 rounds per minute, it is chambering the 8x40mmSR cartridge from a 20 to 30-round detachable box magazine or a 50-round drum with a 20-inch barrel and a 28-inch overall length. The MF is designed to be as simple as possible while still safely chambering its cartridge, and it's supposed to be so simple that anyone who can rifle the barrel should be able to make the rest of the "submachine" gun; using hand tools.)
--[] The Soldiers Friend (Mainstay Select-Fire Rifle)
(The SF is a relatively simple select-fire rifle taking inspiration from the AVS-36, the Fedorov Avtomat, the BAR, and the FG 42. It is meant to be used by professional forces, not police or militia. The BAR provided the SF with its general shape and appearance, the FG 42, the operational and gas system, the Fedorov Avtomat, the magazine, the dust cover, the AVS-36, and the muzzle brake and sling mounts. The SF has a fire rate of 406 to 610 rounds per minute, chambering the 6.5x57mmSR cartridge fed from a 20 or 25-round detachable box magazine while possessing a 28-inch barrel and a 40-inch overall length. The SF is designed to be a reasonably uncomplicated weapon yet modern and meant to be the main arm of the military while still being cheap to produce.)
--[] The Guard's Arm (Costly High-Magazine SMG)
(The GA is a costly high-quality submachine gun taking inspiration from the Browning Hi-Power, the MP 40, MP 5, and the Conscripts Friend and is meant to be used by the secret service and the guards of various military-industrial and laboratory installations. The conscript's friend gave the GA its general shape and appearance, the MP 5 its action, the MP 40 gave the detachable muzzle ring, and the Browning Hi-Power gave it the detachable double-stack magazine alongside modern safety features. The weapon has a fire rate of 457 to 800 rounds per minute, chambered in a 6.5x30mmSR cartridge from a 10 to 30-round detachable double-stack magazine or 48-round detachable double-stack drum. The GA is 457mm in length, not counting the detachable shoulder stock, and has a detachable muzzle ring that can be unscrewed to attach a suppressor.)
--[] The Workers Might (Crewed Anti-Tank System)
The WM is a recoilless rifle design inspired by the Carl Gustaf 8.4 cm recoilless rifle and the german 10.5 cm Leichtgeschütz 40. It is an anti-tank weapon meant for service with professional forces. (Right now, there's a wide variance in the effectiveness of your foreign intelligence agents, which suggests a lack of effective mentorship and information transfer from the more successful ones to the less successful ones. Formalizing a training program means institutionalizing the knowledge of your best agents (with a focus on industrial espionage in Japan) should go a long way toward delivering more reliable results. Of course, industrial espionage may not be as glamorous as the political and military games the CIA and KGB played. Still, it's easier and has a better long-term payoff for the nation. Furthermore, narrowing the focus to Japan due to proximity, an abundance of high-tech industry, and ease of letting your agents blend into the population allows us to get the most optimal results for the effort invested.)

(Gunagchow is an unholy combination of Chinese and Japanese, with enough loan words from Korean and Malay to make up a non-trivial portion of the overall syntax and more exceptions than English. And it's written with Hanzi characters that often don't match their Mandarin counterparts, and never mind that the grammar and word construction don't always line up. Even before the systematic destruction of the island's infrastructure by the IJN air raids, literacy in Guangchou was among the lowest in the Asia-Pacific - mainly because the language was simply a massive headache to learn. Before establishing a robust schooling system, we have a golden opportunity to correct this and grant the nation a competitive advantage in international relations in the future. Guangchou will be rationalized and streamlined to make it easy to understand, pronounce, write, and read.)
