Like I said, going full ham here, but it gets us a single, highly flexible Super Robot given the technology we currently have. Considerations that I'm keeping in mind for alterations are getting the Charge Cannon in somewhere (It's not listed for whatever reason), and taking into account whatever we learn from the Mysterious Device in the incoming interlude.
I envision the Timberwolf Formation as being the front line fighter--the slugger, the heavyweight boxer who walks in and beats the shit out of you, not giving a damn about how you retaliate. The Foxhound Formation meanwhile is all about pursuit, harrying, and keeping up with a jerk who wants to play keep away, all while plinking away at them systematically.
This is supported by the Core Unit receiving the maximum K-Circuitry investment possible, which carries over to the Combination Forms--the Timberwolf hits like a train, and the Foxhound's harrying attacks are something you don't dare ignore.
With the technology base that we have now, this is the best Super Robot candidate we can make. It's flexible, it can handle all manner of threats--and it should hold the line at least until we can get more technology and greater insights to fuel further development. Seriously, it's something like two or three times stronger than the mech we fielded against Bandit at the Grand Coulee.
The remaining RP can be spent either getting another Core Unit online, or tweaking the Foxhound's upgrade slots--which I'm not completely happy with, but are serving as placeholders at least.
