Become The Fluff
One good thing with apparent avatars of nature was that food and water wasn't exactly an issue, so being a hobo avoiding civilization worked a lot smoother than Lea expected. Well, she wasn't sure if they were actual avatars or guardians or whatever or actually some escaped experiment of the madman Sheol or his hippie twin brother, but it was the best theory she had at hand. No way something artificial could be so in touch with their surroundings. Heck, Gaius was basically a disney princess with how birds landed on him and chilled.
Still, infinite food or not, even she was starting to get a bit sick of fruit. Munching on an apple they made she frowned deeply. She loved the two. Really, she did. But damn it, she needed some human interaction too. Not to mention she felt horribly out of touch with current events since they were hiding out in the wild. The rare newspaper thrown out by insensitive campers wasn't exactly helpful. Sure, what she held in her hands was actually from today, if she didn't lose her sense of time entirely. And yet... it told her nothing.
"Mercury V, blabla, Valiant, yadda, new development thing, attacks... "
Nothing about her or the fluffy guys. She scoffed. She probably would have better information from the net, but for the newspaper? A relatively local thing. Probably big news at the time but it has been too long since then. With a sigh, she shook her head as she threw the newspaper at Trillo who promptly ate it. She stared at the paper disappearing into the fur. Seriously, where was the mouth. Or did it not matter where the food and water entered them? Did they even need to eat? compared to her she only saw them eat occasionally. Not to mention since they could grow their own food almost Ex Nihlio, it seemed like eating was a hobby, not an essential to them. She sighed. She really needed to get some Kaiju expert. Or study Kaijuism or whatever it was called. Unfortunately, she was still on the run. Call her paranoid but she didn't think that people stopped searching for her and the Kaiju with her. With that in mind she brushed her hands off.
"Guess we're moving o-"
THe explosions made Trillo jump into Gaius while Lea almost fell down. Her head snapped towards the distance, seeing smoke rise up. She bit her lip at the sight.
She really should just move on with the boys. Just ignore that explosion. None of her business. The military could handle itself. And even if not, she was a civilian. Not her area of expertise.
…
…
"Damn it!"
Minutes later, she still hated herself for not being a bigger asshole.
She never expected to cross off 'spy on a government encampment' on her bucket list but here she was. The other thing she never hoped to cross off her list is 'see a Kausen in the metal'. Because that was exactly what she was seeing. Burning vehicles, smashed soldiers, all as a group of four aliens seemed to raid the base for anything that seemed valuable, nailed down or not. With her lying on Trillo and Gaisu lying down on her she felt relatively safe. all things considered, even as that stuff was going on. Contrary to belief they were quite stealthy like that because Gaius could change color like a chameleon.
They really had to sit down and try to narrow down what he could and couldn't do instead of goofing around and running away. Trillo and Gaius let out their respective chirp and grumble. Lea nodded. Okay, memo noted, good. Now for the current situation... She hissed. Seriously, what were the odds that not even two days later, she'd meet number two of humanity's enemies?! She grit her teeth. Now that she saw what was happening, there was no way she could sit back and do nothing. Even if there weren't any survivors, letting one of humanity's enemies get any sort of advantage didn't sit right with her. Walking back a bit to hide from their gazes, she hid into a nearby cave. Then she put her palm on Gaius' head, giving him a conflicted look.
"Gaius, I know it's a lot to ask for, but can you help those guys out?"
Gaius grumbled in response, causing her to smile wryly.

The scouting squad was not in the best of moods. Sure, they found some decent loot given they were out in the boonies, but that didn't mean much. Nothing of importance was here. At best this was an outpost. At worst, some government leftover. At least they had some target practice with the meatbags on the ground but other than that, it was not exactly the best loadout.
It was then, as one of them yawned and rolled his shoulders, that a shadow loomed over them. The yawning Gausen blinked and looked up with a frown.
"Why is it getting da-"
That were his last words before his head and body got smashed in by a massive black furball doing a superhero landing on him. To the Gausens' credit they immediately opened fire on the beast. If it was bothered by their attacks however, it only showed a grumble as it rushed towards them, with its arms wide. Easy to avoid as two of them leapt out of the way, but then the beast suddenly rolled over the ground, increasing speed and landing on top of the third. Immediately it smashed down its face with wide, furious swings. Standing up, it then rushed towards them again like a savage beast. The last two of them kept their fire up as they kept their distance, but only grew more and more frustrated. What was its fur made off?! There was no way this backwater planet had creatures that could tank so many rounds!
And yet it stood tall. Angered by its continuing survival one of them didn't notice the earth giving in, with roots grabbing his leg. His eyes only widened before a wide sideways swing took his head off. The last remaining Gausen grit his teeth and pulled out a blade. Savage or not, the raw power that thing possessed was too dangerous. With that in mind he closed the distance. No way he was going to keep running away from a simple monster!
Ducking underneath its swing, he cut at it. And the Gausen grinned at the pained whine it let out.
"Hahaha, I see!" He swung his blade again and cut through the fur once more, causing green fluids to drip out of it."You don't like sharp things, hmmmm?!"
///
It was going so well at the start. Surprise attack after surprise attack, Gaius whittled down the numbers of the aliens to nothing. But the last one standing was made of different stuff, as he skillfully danced around Gaius while cutting him up like a turkey on Thanksgiving.
"Oh son of a banana."
The realization hit her hard as she saw the massive fluff ball get attacked by a much smaller opponent. She reviewed her memories, double checked it with what she saw and came to one simple conclusion she should've realized way earlier.
Gaius had no damn idea how to fight, did he? Flailing his arms around with as much force as he could, blindly running after an opponent. Heck, didn't he just stumble too?! And there was literally nothing she could do about it. A newbie couldn't suddenly learn how to fight midbattle. It took experience, experience they didn't have time for. She bit her thumb. She could feel his pain. His panic at getting hurt. But what could she do now?! It was then she felt a light tackle to her back. She turned around, seeing Trillo jump up and down.
Family. Together.
Her eyes widened. Wait, they could do that? Since when?! She grinned. Well then, if that was how it was going to work-
Uncertain.
Her smirk immediately vanished. Okay, she could have done without the 'maybe' added to the plan. With a sigh, she cracked her neck.
"...Alright, why the heck not?" Punching her palm she barred her teeth with wild energy."Let's do this, Trillo, Gaius!"
She paused as she heard Gaius grumble in the distance, being cut once more.
"...How do we do-"
Before she could finish her words, Trillo smashed against her head and buried it inside him. Then things got... trippy.
///
Despite being a warrior of the Free Brothers, he had to admit, in terms of toughness, this thing was ranking really high in his eyes. Not to mention the raw destructive force. He felt a shiver down his core when he ducked underneath another sloppy haymaker only for it to punch out a piece of the mountain behind him. Still, all that power was meaningless if it couldn't hit. Sure, those roots would be an issue if he got caught, but they moved predictable. He laughed a bit as he saw it being exhausted, if the way its fur body moved was anything like heaving for air. His victory was imminent, he could feel it! With that in mind he rushed forward once morem, intent on impaling the beast.
But then things suddenly changed.
Instead of clumsily trying to avoid his attack or bring up its arms, it just took the attack. A low grumble escaped it and the Kausen realized his mistake.
He couldn't get his blade out.
"What the-"
"My turn, xenos scum!"
Sadly nobody heard her cool one liner, but whatever, it was time to beat some metal alien butt! Within the body of Gaius, three minds were one as they raised their arms, hands intertwined before rammed down as a hammer. Unfortunately the alien was smart enough to let go of his blade, leaving it stuck inside Gaius. Mentally, Lea clicked her tongue. Damn it, she winded up too much. More efficient movenets, get all the speed out she could get. With that in mind, she raised Gaius' arms in a boxing stance and started to bounce off the ground. The earth vibrated with each jump but she didn't care as she kept her eyes on it. The alien stared at her warily, trying to circle around her. With a grin, she threw out a jab. It was still slow, but way faster than before. she felt some of its metal face crack as it brushed it. He snarled and began to shoot at what he assumed was a face, but it was meaningless. United like this, Lea realized that Gaius and Trillo didn't need to see with a face. Every hair on their body served as a sense to see in that sense, as some weird energy suffused them. Maybe her avatar of nature theory was true? Either way, she threw out her jabs, trying to keep hitting the alien. But nothing really stuck, making her grow more frustrated.
Dang it, she underestimated how damn sluggish Gaius moved! Despite being united like this, she felt the disconnect. It was like a lag when one tried to play a video game with someone across the world in a cave! She wished she could throw kicks or the like, but that was impossible for now. Memo for later, make Gaius stretch more and work on this mind melding thing! At least now they were at a stalemate but it wouldn't last. Then an idea struck Lea. She conveyed it to her friends and they agreed, trusting her combat senses.
In the real world, the alien saw an opening. Most likely aggravated at not landing a proper hit, it reatred back its right arm for a straight. It would surely be its most powerful attack. Thus, it would leave it the most open. Jumping into the jaw of the beast, he let the attack break his shoulder. Letting out a warrior's roar, he sacrificed his arm to get his weapon back and finish the job. Ripping his weapon out, he relished its pain as it bled, but that joy was short lived as something slammed from behind, almost breaking his internals. With wide eyes, he realized he got baited.
Trapped with the right arm, Lea let out a laugh despite the pain.
"Gotcha~!"
She and Gaius threw the alien up and wrapped Gaius' arms around the alien's hips. He frantically began to ram down his blade agan and again, drawing more and more blood. But it didn't matter. The trees formed and twisted underneath him, glowing with energy and sparkling as if they were made out of crystal. Gaius body leaned back, far back. Lea couldn't help herself. She laughed like a maniac before screaming the name of their Finishing Move.
"BEECH BOMB!!!"
Lea, with Gaius' body, slammed the alien's body down the trees. He couldn't even scream as he got impaled and promptly shattered by the raw force behind that wrestling move.
Minutes later, after running away as far as possible, Lea tried to patch up Gaius, back in his blob form. Trillo wiggled, chirping lower than usual. Lea crossed her arms with a pout.
"What, you got a better name idea?"
In response to that, the little fluff ball promptly turned around. The girl smirked. Haha, point to humanity! With that in mind, she rolled her shoulders, still working off that high.
"We gotta work on that link up!" She raised her thumb at them. "Though good work team! Honestly I expected worse side ef-"
That's when she promptly puked all over the poor fluffballs.
