Stories conflict about how active the Nine-Fold Dragon is, or can be. Even so, I can imagine a nine-headed hydra of a dragon, who is the size of an entire universe, clutching Earth Bet in one forepaw, and Aleph in the other. One head leans down so that he can speak to Scion. "Mine. You are not welcome here, I think it would be best if you were to leave now," the cosmic wyrm says in the voice of a kindly old man.

While well-done for what it is, I don't really care about most of this, nor about Dinah, etc. Yeah, the information on Ziz is interesting, and it's probably related to the plot later down the line, but most of these characters I don't really care about, nor the bulk of the past several chapters.

I read this mainly because I'm interested in the adventures of Taylor the Dragon and her Dragon-Friend Amy, and it seems like they've been left by the wayside.

And it seems like there are mythological creatures around that can still use magic, despite magic being magus non grata for the past while. I wonder how many others there are that were there all along but were Harry Potter Wizard World'd out of both sight and mind.

Unfortunately, section 5 is my getting the various side stories out of the way. This will be going on until each section has a VI, and Purgatorio and Inferno have posted. I'll make no apologies, but I will mention this one simple item : I already have a list of roughly 90 plot bunnies from various sections of this story, and more gets added with every posting I make. I could probably spend the next 2-3 years covering the tangents, and not get back to the main story. The focus goes back on Taylor & co. after Intermezzo in three movements.

Might I suggest that you add parts with Taylor and Amy and their doings along with the rest of it? Going for a couple of months and barely having anything happening with the reasons most people are reading the story is a bit...irksome.

I'm enjoying the arc as well. Yeah, it isn't 100% about Taylor, but it's covering events which are also important. Why is that a problem?

Wow I actually feel really sorry for Ziz and the other Endbringers, cause who is to say the original twenty weren't in the same position, strong opposition taken as prisoners and forced to act as genocidal death machines

do any of the dragon gods know the Familicide Epic Spell? are any of them capable of casting it? for reference Familicide (3.5e Spell) - Dungeons and Dragons Wiki

the only defense against Familicide is to be on another plane of existence so if the dragon gods can get all of the endbringers and their controllers on the same plane of existence repeated castings of familicide may be enough

Yeah, the trouble with that spell is that the universe demands retribution and will retroactively make someone close to or otherwise valued by the caster related to the target somehow, assuming it wasn't already true. Seriously, every time it's been cast that I'm aware of, that has happened, despite it not technically being part of the spell effect. Even bringing it up has weird effects on probability so I expect Eidolon is suddenly Marquis' brother now, or something.

The Shards are scattered across thousands of planes of existence, and it is now clear that the Endbringers are unwilling pawns with no living relatives. Plus, as D&D Powers, gods can will any mortal being to die at any time, provided they are not protected by a patron Power of their own. This means, if the Entities do not count as Powers, then the Gods need no spell to kill them, and if they do, then no mere spell, not even an Epic one, can simply end their lives.

The Gods are only limited by treaty with each other in their interactions with Mortals. They have no need for mortal magics to smite mortals, nor are they affected by mortal magic. To them, this spell is of no use or concern.

Look at the right-hand side of the screen there, where it says "Homebrew".

Granted, a lot of what's going into this is made up by the author, but I can accept that far easier than I can some random-ass guy-on-the-internet's untested, unproven, and overpowered spell.

Note that the dragon gods are quite literally GODS. They have access to every spell in D&D, though gods some more than others. If it's related at all in any way to their primary portfolio, it's likely that the god has access to something akin to that monstrousity, if only due to their Salient Divine Abilities. A god of magic would probably have some way of linking together a bloodline that causes an arcane spell to cause death to arc from descendant to descendant.

Final note: that spell would literally kill everyone and everything on whatever planet it's used on, unless it's bounded by species or certain number of layers. Otherwise, it would simply keep going backwards in generations until it hit the Last Universal Common Ancestor (LUCA, which is a real thing in biological science), and wipe every living thing off the face of the planet.

That's not an actual D&D spell, it was something made up for a Wham moment in the webcomic Order of the Stick.

MP3.1415Player uses New Story!
It's super effective!

Kryslin is confused...
Kryslin, in its confusion, writes a whole chapter for Scaling Up, before reading more new story...
(Seriously, I just churned out 4K words for 5.20. Now, I get to work on Purgatorio and 5.21...)

So... do you mean testing to see if you have a master or stranger power, testing to determine the limits of your master or stranger power, or testing to see if you've been affected by a master or stranger power?
All girls have master powers upon us mere males. It has been proven in multiple studies that a smiling girl reduces the attention span and decision making skills of guys nearby. Basically girls have the power to make males dumber just by smiling at them.

Guys have a similar power though, but it is slightly more subtle. If a guy has social status (looks, wealth, political power, acclaimed skill) girls are more likely to ignore stuff that they wouldn't for someone else. Some of this is true for males as well but it isn't as pronounced.

Now for girls this tendency reduces with experience, for most. For guys though it is a life long condition, we are just as susceptible at 65 as we are at 18.

The theory goes that this is part of our evolution. Guys were supposed to protect women and children and are thus less likely and able to consider long term solutions (such as their own survival) and are more focused upon saving that pretty smile whilst girls are less likely to dismiss the successful hunter's attempts at wooing them even if he is dumb as a box of rocks and smells to high heaven.

@LordViridian : Actually, that has been referenced before; I think it's hidden behind a spoiler tag. Doesn't matter, it's still an awesome video.

Though it does make me wonder... What tropes am I using straight up, which ones am I avoiding, and which ones am I subverting/lampshading...
