ANd then there is Brockton Bay's canonical "aquifer" which would be better described as a giant underground lake. And which, geologically speaking, should not exist.
To be honest, we're talking about the same guy who had Leviathan sink Kyushu which... uh... is another level of bullshit considering said island is both heavily volcanic and the like. Even ignoring everything else... pretty much everything around the Pacific rim would be gone due to tsunamis roughly one to two hundred feet tall smashing into places like the West Coast.

The resulting Tsubani might well be higher than that given while its only the third largest of the Four main islands Kyushu is slightly larger than the entire country of Taiwan and is beyond its volcanos is generally heavily mountainous not surprising given that Japan is 73 percent covered in mountains.

I'd imagine something that could put actually the entire island under the water including its highest point which is 5876 feet would displace a massive amount of water.

Don't forget Newfoundland also being sank, somehow, without absolutely wrecking the entire east coast. As well as Greenland, the UK, and so on. And it was done gently enough that buildings weren't destroyed by turbulence in the water.

Dude wanted to have a water themed disaster causing monster in his story, and had him sink landmasses as his calling card. He didn't think about the consequences of Leviathan in depth, and its fine since that doesn't matter to the overall story of Worm, other than Kaijus are steadly killing humanity. Its like any other comic or fantasy thing where an event or foe should have a larger effect than it does, but since the author didn't think of that or want to include it in his story, it doesn't.
