What would be scary would be finding out that Dinah new species is a potentially viable one provided a Compatible male could be found.
She ends up getting put on the Protected Species List with a Grant given to her "keeper" for proper upkeep.

*looks up drider* So… no requirement of blood-drinking, or heightened sense of shame, fear, and hatred? I'm also assuming that Dinah still possesses her (currently still immature and dormant) reproductive system, instead of being made sexless.

That is correct, and this should be as far as the discussion goes on that subject. :)
(Tempteth not the Mods, for they shall smite thee, and thee, and thee, and maybe thou, and that guy over there...)

Dinah is closer to a younger Rachnera from Every Day Life With Monster Girls than she is with a drider, but what's a Drow goddess and Demon Queen of Spiders to do...?

She's 10, right? Let's wait until she's California legal to wonder.

Besides, it sounds like Llolth can make more Arachne should she wish to, so the fate of a species doesn't rest on one prepubescent girl's well-into-the-future love life.

Hell, if Llolth would swear to ensure that their human bits as Arachne count as among the 'pretty people' in human reckoning, she could probably recruit a viable breeding population within a year of posting the offer.

Dinah is 12 in this story ATM, about 5 months behind Missy.
It's why Missy can bring Dinah her homework, because she's in the same grade as Dinah, and shares a number of classes with her.

(I forget which it is but I think one of the moons in our solar system has H2O Ice as 'ground' and liquid nitrogen weather patterns)

Pluto is a dwarf planet that exists in a stable orbit around a shared barycenter with Charon. That's probably what you're thinking of. Titan is a moon of Saturn with a hydrocarbon atmosphere that rains methane. It's also going to have a quadcopter sent to it sometime in the 2030's.

I was probably thinking of Titan, but I got my "The Planets Are Weird" mixed up.

True, on this planet the projectiles are typically liquid or solid H2O, but on other planets it rains Liquid Nitrogen, Molten Lead, or weirder. (I forget which it is but I think one of the moons in our solar system has H2O Ice as 'ground' and liquid nitrogen weather patterns)

On Neptune and Uranus themselves, it might actually rain -diamonds-, as the methane in their atmospheres is compressed so hard by gravity that the hydrogen is driven out of the molecules, and solid carbon precipitates out of the clouds, to rain into a liquid-carbon sea.

Excuse me gentle beings, I have been asked to relay a demand from a certain group of knights.

They demand, a shrubbery!

- we have already talked about the names of spells from Slayers. I thought I'd mention the titles of spells from another anime franchise that uses heavy metal bands as overkill spell effects. the anime was
Bastard!
most anime follow the DBZ route and just shout the spell name.

Bastard!....

So in the early 90's I attended Gen Con - this was when it was still in the Mecca Center and the Anime showings were on a big screen TV set up in a hallway - and watched a fan-sub of Bastard!. It was hilarious. Watching Dark Schneider killing the evil wizard Ozzy, showing up the incompetent knight Sir Bon Jovina while protecting the city of Metallica from the forces of the evil god Anthrax - just about everything was named after a Heavy Metal band, band member, album, or song. Great stuff!

So when the series got an DVD release I was right in the store buying a copy - only to be grievously disappointed by Pioneer's dub. Bon Jovina had become Von Jobina, Metallica had become Meta-Ricanna, Anthrax - Anthra-sax, etc....

I suppose Pioneer was worried about lawsuits, but it sucked a lot of the humor out of the OVA. :(

:p

@ToothMaker : I shall now make you feel old and grey...

I attended Gencon at Mecca in Milwaukee from '86 on to when they moved out. I remember watching Bastard! there. :)

That's fine.

Putting the question out there like that, was specifically done so that we could get it over with, rather the waste time and pages dancing around the subject.

(Or worse, revisit it at a later date, when someone inevitably decides to be an obtuse dumbass and act like there's room to selectively misinterpret the details. Better to kill that stupidity now, before it can grow up to become a nuisance.)

The manga is equally hilarious and full of wonderful references.

A drider is part drow, part spider. I don't think Dinah is part drow.
I've seen a Drider template for 3.5 that can be applied to 'any humanoid' I'm not sure where Realmshelp got it from, but that site has a good list of templates for use in 3.5. Plus, you can't expect Lolth to only be able to make drow based driders. At most, you can assume that she rarely has opportunity or inclination to make driders from an other than drow base.

That hardly makes me feel old. You're not saying something like, "Gen Con has been in Indianapolis since I've been alive" after all. :p
Gen Con was bought by bitches of the Coast before I saw my tenth birthday. :)

My brother has been to every Gen Con since 1978, and to at least ten cons every year since 1985.

Except during Desert Storm and Enduring Freedom.

Uhm, I have a deck of Playboy club playing cards, bought at the last Lake Geneva GenCon. Couldn't go into the club proper, but we were allowed in the public gift shop...?

Ok, a question to the insane asylum... If there were to be a FAQ for this story, what questions need to be answered?
