You haven't looked at the Pathfinder Kitsune with it's Magical Tail racial feat?

Pathfinder RPG Kitsune

Magical Tail Feat
Those feats do kitsune a real disservice. Feats are incredibly valuable (except for most martial feats), and wasting them on a 2/day ability each is kinda...meh. I mean, they're decent spells overall, but they don't really sync with other abilities you might have.

Not to mention that, as I said above, a ninetails is a literal walking god. A few spells per day does not a ninetails kitsune make.

It's all fun and games until the Wizard breaks the level cap and starts taking Fighter levels.
one of my favorite bits (out of many in an excellent series) is when Dresden's response to a warlock-wannabe challenging him to a duel is to pull a .44 magnum revolver.
a rune-inscribed quarterstaff can help sling spells, but it's still a solid chunk of wood perfect for hitting things with.
and of course, always know the value of running away.

i'm rather excited for the next book coming out July 14!

Also reminds me of my idea for a Dragon with levels in Rogue. Full BAB, good Dex save to shore up their main weakness, stealth boosts, and sneak attack damage.

Just imagine a full-grown dragon adding sneak damage to claw/claw/wing/wing/bite/tail sweep/tail slap/crush.

8 attacks per round. EIGHT.

Beware the dragon with Monk levels. I had to figure out how to extend the weapon damage chart to accomodate a Colossal-sized monk with effective size category boosts.

And Greater Flurry gives 10 attacks.

Legends about kitsune make their tails far more magical than PF gives them credit for, to the point where nine tails = bona fide god. And not just a minor kami, either, but a seriously big deal. Like, city-leveling big deal. Maybe give her two levels' worth of sorcerer per tail? So one tail is the equivalent of a 2nd level sorcerer, two tails is for 4th, three tails is for 6th, etc. I'd say an 18th level sorcerer when a kitsune reaches nine tails is pretty godlike, all things considered.

Pathfinder also had to try keeping a player race balanced.

Honestly, from the lore, a Kyuubi should be equivalent to a Great Wyrm level dragon, with access to the Fire, Charm, and Illusion domains, and an innate shapeshifting racial spell-like ability. Maybe a racial bonus to Illusion and Enchantment spells.

By lore, an Elder Kyuubi should be all that.

Younger kitsune were far more vulnerable, especially if they had less than five tails worth of power.

九 (kyū) being nine, 尾 bi being a counting word meaning tails (of fish or shrimp, apparently).
Not exactly. Chinese (and thus, Sino-influenced languages like Japanese) uses various characters as counters for different types of objects – in addition to meaning "(the) tail (of any animal)", 尾 is also used as a counter for shrimp and small fish. (e.g. エビ十八尾 (ebi juuhachi-bi), literally "eighteen (units of) shrimp")

(Similar example: Jimmy Doolittle's line in Pearl Harbor: "Boys, there's a phrase I want you to memorize, 'Wo shi yi ge mei guo ren.' It means 'I am an American.' In Chinese." Written in Chinese, that becomes "我是一个美国人", 个 being the classifier used for people.)

And no, unlike Taylor in Grounders10's The Taste of Peaches, Lisa's fluffiness is not contagious. :)
(BTW, I recommend that fic, the latest installment is hilarious!)
Awwwww… :(

And... I find myself getting lost in another fic. Thanks! It's a great way to cool down after working up a major sweat.

In all seriousness, I'm still thinking about it. I'm thinking that a number of minor abilities that can be creatively leveraged would be something right up Lisa's alley. Minor Illusion, Audible Glamour, Invisibility, Silence, Spider Climb... Stuff like that. Along with a few other things that may (or may not) be obvious.
Oh, Jesus.... a Trolling Lisa with STRANGER abilities. Nowhere is safe.... *shudders*

She's a 5 tail D&D 3.5 style kitsune. And that makes all the difference. To keep the game balanced, D&D and Pathfinder drastically reduced the power of kitsune.
More importantly, she may have the Power of a kitsune in her fifth century of life, but not the Knowledge or Experience. In that sense, she's actually farther behind then Taylor is in terms of being able to properly use all of her abilities. After all, Taylor is getting by on granted spells and expert training. Lisa had a quick lesson on the basics from a singular entity that's not well known for being helpful, and that's it.

Dammit, now I'm going to have to write a Tattletale interlude. Argh.

The idea I'm working with for Lisa/Tattletail/Tattletale/Whatever is along the following lines:
Each tail gives her a certain number of points : Tail 1 = 1, Tail 2 =2, Tail n = n. The amount adds. So 5 Tails = 15 points.
Each point represents 1 spell level. Cantrips = Level 0. 1st Level =1, 2nd = 2, 3rd = 3, etc.

Right now, Lisa is playing with cantrips, and a handful of 1st and 2nd level spells as spell like abilities. There aren't that many kitsune in North America, most are on the west coast. Now if Coyote had taken an interest in Lisa, it'd be somewhat different. However, Coyote does hold something of a grudge, considering all the damage the English and French did to the native peoples of the Americas... Shard derived powers nonwithstanding, Lisa should be able to leverage what she knows

She can, pretty much at will, go from Lisa <-> Lisa with fox tails and ears <-> Blonde anthro fox with 5 tails <-> fox with five tails <-> normal looking fox (albeit more smug than normal).

One thing she can do is 'Step Sideways'; Yes, it's from WoD. D&D-wise, that means she can step into the border ethereal. Her first experience will give her some idea of what's watching around Brockton Bay, and it will be ChAoTiC (Good or Bad, depends on who she runs into first - Hlal or Dierdre).
