Anja Giantbone steps forth

In the main hall, two of the older teens struggle to move a heavy load of planks. The hall bustles with frantic action, adults making final preparations and children swarming filled with anxious energy.

The two teens looked up as a set of heavy footsteps approached. "We've got it Anja" the older of the two whined.

Anja stepped up beside the two boys, towering head and shoulders above them. She crouched and wrapped a single huge arm around the entire load of planks. Straightening up she gave the boy an affectionate head ruffle.

"Where to?" The words were a quiet rolling rumble, like the roll of thunder far away.

"Um," a small girl popped her head up over Anja's shoulder"Over there I think" she pointed to over by the main door.

Anja turned and carefully walked towards the door, revealing three other children climbing her back and clinging to her braids. her huge form cutting effortlessly through the chaos she dropped off the wood and stood gazing out the door.

"What next?" the girl chirped

"Off." Anja sank down to one knee and plucked each child off her with patient careful motions. Retrieving her bone necklace from the smallest one before softly placing her out of the way. "Stay"

She straightened and strode out the doors, as always seeking to help.

Dyri is ready to do his duty.

For the record, in case anyone has forgotten, the Norse often have low level shapeshifting...most PCs can be assumed to have this. For a fight like this, focusing it at least partially on durability (ie: making yourself tougher) should be very helpful against all the little attacks from the normal skeletons. So...everyone should maybe consider doing that.
I'll be doing exactly that then.

Necromancer POV: On the Stream

"What's up, boys and girls? Alright, so last year, we scouted the new human village, well, village was pretty generous, more a makeshift village, really. Then one of the villagers decided that dead things are supposed to be buried, but some sweet micro saved the ass of skelebro. Too bad for them, it's time we added them to our skeleton army."

".. and now we get on the task of queue command, queue command, hang on, what's that-"

"NO, NO, NO! Shit, they all executed their contingent orders, NO!"

AN: This is my interpretation of the Necromancer. I choose for this to be canon. I reject all evidence otherwise!
I can already hear the screaming about "hacks" and "Cheating AI" when his basic skeleton infantry fail to do any form of damage to the Norsefolk he's sent them against.

I highly doubt that will be the case. His army has already killed one of us and injured some of the scouts/skirmishers. They have already demonstrated the ability to hurt and IF has stated that he considers it a failure on his part if the skeleton army doesn't pose enough threat to kill at least some of us.

In case things pop off without me I just wanna say I auto do this.

I meant those of us who shapeshifted damage resistance. The regular infantry are about on par with it slightly stronger than regular humans, they really shouldn't be a challenge for a prepared Norse warrior. It's the special units we have to worry about.

Who's willing to bet that there will be a second wave of more elite warriors? I'm pretty sure they'll come in after we've expended Ordstirr on exploding this army.

If there is one, I don't think the necromancer behind this has sent it already and it won't be any time soon. Given how he reacted to Bjorn Bjarnesson's one-man rampage, he is unprepared for fighting Norse and certainly isn't expecting us to be able to handle this army. While I have no doubt he will send a more elite army in the future if given time, we won't have to worry about it immediately.

Are we still sending a kill team to kill the Necromancer or did we scrap that. If we did I think we should at least follow the connections between the skeletons and the Necromancer so we know where the Necromancer base is so we plan a future raid there.

We aren't sending one in the middle of the battle as everyone is needed in the defence and the necromancer doesn't seem to be here in person. However, there are some plans to send an expedition after the necromancer next turn.

No clue-- but I know we have a group for specifically going after the Relay Skeletons-- maybe once those are cleared out, we start hunting the Necromancer? Not sure though-- because if I remember correctly, I think when that was being planned, the team that would be going after the Necromancer would mostly have flight-- and well, I don't and I'm in the Ranged Specialists/Relay Skeleton-killing group so.... not sure.

If we destroy the army first, won't that get rid of all the connections between the skeletons and the Necromancer. We need at least one of the relay-skeletons connected with him to find him, or send at least 1-2 people with seeing eyes at the start of the fight.

This is the sort of thing that should have been asked and discussed in the prep phase because it isn't in the battle-plan and it isn't really a good idea to change it on the fly or have people just going off on their own. I'm also not sure that IF wants us to just go and off the necromancer as part of this. I would be surprised if he wants to keep this event limited to the skeleton army and have the hunt for the necromancy as its own expedition.

A Fool's bet. The necromancer already showed they have some strategic acumen. He is at least attempting a simple flanking maneuver. The idea that he will be throwing a single wave at us is laughable.

@DeadmanwalkingXI Gefjosa would like to be with her kinfolk. She ran while her family died in Gotland and wants tovstand next to them this time.

Gefjosa is welcome to stand with them is that is her desire. Added.

This is correct. Ragnarr's suggestion is to try and keep at least one ordinary Relay Skeleton intact. That's pretty doable given what we've seen of them.

The plans are more immediate than that. Honestly, at one point I was thinking during the battle itself, but IF said some stuff that seemed to veto that, so we have to settle for 'immediately after'.

I think the "surprise" may come as a result of the skeleton's known ability to shapeshift and recombine in different forms, as shown by the Goliaths and the knight-horses become sea-horses. That opens up a ton of nasty possibilities for a mid-fight shift. Just make sure you guys are pulverizing or turning skeletons to ash when possible.
