It's not? Like, I don't mean one of those 'Hey, Blackhand, have you heard of X'. Unless it's really not an action to ask Blackhand stuff.

It has never been an action to ask Blackhand stuff, even pretty involved stuff. Asking us to do it in a post is because it's important backstory stuff that should be part of an update, not that having changed.

Yeah, but we're also on a strict timetable.

Silver is for spending, if we're overspending, it's because it's an emergency.

If it was useful for the mission, I'd buy it. I'm pretty sure it isn't at all. Like, we don't actually want ongoing light sources and already have some temporary ones to use as distractions in the form of explosive charms...what would we even do with the bottled sunlight?

For the light, if neither the dwarves nor Hasvir don't pan out, somehow:
"Let the gusher of smoke shine like the flame of the clouds."
Gusher of smoke = Fire.
Flame of the clouds = Sun.
or, we cut out the fire altogether and use something else, blood would use "battle draught" for the rune.

There is also an option to... well, just bottle the shining river water. Not guaranteed to work though, but we can try, in a pinch.

Also, in case we need to go lightless for some part, we might have a shapeshifting that can help, either some sort of cat eyes (heh, owl eyes are more appropriate here), or even echolocation.

IF, is something like that possible given our current shapeshifting abilities?

No, we do want ongoing light sources, we just also want it to be toggalable when it would be a liability, this gives us that--and it also has any metaphysical benefits of basically being a piece of Sunlight in a place without it.

For all that light river seemed like a good idea, it's going to be relatively lousy with strong Abysslings, while a light source that we can carry with us we can conceal when it would be dangerous, while we can have it to repel weaker ones when we need it.

The dwarves reaction to the Lurkalings using sunlight weapons implied they do not have such weapons.
And we have been told next time we talk to them they are going to fight the Lurkalings and we can come along. I want more preparation before that.
i will be honest, i totally forgot about the lurkaling fight offer being right away the next time we speak with the dwarves, but makes sense, they probably welcome every hand that can fight without danger of dying from the sun weapons.

If we get more light sources, neat, if not... well, we have something. But that merchant better tell us EVERYTHING we need to know about its use!

...i think we can just have our fyjgla on our shoulder for that?

...Steinarr just told us that the Elivagar are the only way to move across Ginnungagap, though?

There's more than one of them, the one we were suggested was one that was basically made of light. Sure, that's a great idea if you're an unstoppable beast with 1000+ Orthstirr and can throw down with the big boys, but not for us, who's just a plucky relative youth who should be avoiding combat at all costs.

I mean, true, but I'm willing to trust Torsten when he says the safest would be the light-emitting one.

Well, for now, at least. We still don't actually know what the other Elivagar do, and researching them wouldn't hurt.

Torsten is also an overpowered meathead, let's see what the other options are and see about charting a course.

It feels like the one suggested to us is the one people of our level can actually handle too. When both high level npcs gave the same suggestion I don't think going for the other rivers would be better.

Man, we really need to take some time and just... spread out, after all the fighting... nearest point is probably after the trollman... with the Lurkalings before that....
Hopefully, there will be lives that aren't as battle focused as Halla's.

...True, depend if it is merely dark or total darkness, which Echolocation might be needed, but it will also allow us the flexibility of sending the owl as a decoy light, thought considering the mess Aki got himself into we might need to revaluate how much risk we can play with our Fyjgla.

...What the heck happen if our Fyjgla die while we are in Ginnungagap?, what happen if Halla died?

Only Torsten mentioned the Leiptr. But yeah, I don't see why he'd tell us about something we couldn't handle. He's the guy with experience after all.

Agreed. Although the orthstirr is nice.

One of the prices of Charred soul is that there is no body death for us.
Death is automatically true.
Well, if you die as Halla it doesn't matter anyways.

We can actually take a breather after we deal with those two things (well, and maybe the bandits). Like, after that we can seriously just not fight at all until our trading trip, probably (spars aside).

I'm pretty sure that IF mean true death in this quote, I recall a discussion about it earlier, but I don't know what IF said if every death of Halla is automatically true death.

Edit: speaking of, what was Blackhand's Fyjgla? and does it still semi exist is some form or not?

Too late to vote, but did we seriously consider voting no on an item that could have been the difference between life and death, success and failure? We can just get more damn money if we actually need to.
